Everyone in the audience looked at the HD screen in shock!It felt like there was a huge scandal to be uncovered!
"Take out your item and show it to Mr. Ashford," the man standing behind her reminded quietly.
The girl snapped out of it, "Yes."
She took a box out of her bag, appearing slightly nervous yet trying to maintain composure.
She opened the box and pushed it toward the man in front of her.
At this point, everyone had realized that the man in the surveillance footage was the one who had seized the box earlier and wanted to tell a story!
Monica Usher closed her eyes speechlessly, trying to calm her breathing!
Damn it!
She was set up by Barbara Sutton!!
That damned woman!
She actually took the bracelet and ring to sell them!!
In the surveillance video, Aaron Abbott picked up the box, closely examining the jewelry inside. The surveillance seemed to reveal a ring and a bracelet.
Monica Usher felt utterly defeated! She struggled, but Justin Kingston’s men held her even tighter!
"How much are you planning to sell it for?" In the footage, the man asked softly.
The girl blurted out, "Six million."
Monica Usher was nearly driven to madness by her stupidity!!
She wished she could slap her! Such a low price! It was obviously stolen! How could that not raise suspicion?
There was a brief silence in the surveillance footage.
Soon, the girl changed her offer, "Five million is fine too." She seemed eager to sell them off.
The surveillance showed the deal was made, and Aaron Abbott instructed his men to keep an eye on the girl, as she seemed suspicious to him too.
The surveillance footage abruptly stopped.
Aaron Abbott spoke into the microphone, "Ms. Usher, she switched out the entire Clover suite. If I’m not mistaken, your box now only contains the earrings and necklace, right?"
Monica Usher, being restrained, couldn’t maintain her composure as all the questioning eyes fell upon her.
Aaron Abbott opened the box he was holding in front of everyone, confirming the earlier suspicions!
The audience expressed shock!
"This girl sold the ring and bracelet to me at a low price and implicated you," Aaron Abbott continued looking at Monica Usher, "Do you have any defense?"
Upstairs, Lydia Ingram slammed her fist on the railing!
Furious, she turned and left, with Joe trailing behind. It was all over, they shot themselves in the foot.
Soon after, the HD screen displayed another scene—
Barbara Sutton being arrested by the police.
"Officer, what’s the maximum sentence for me?"
That was the first thing she asked after opening the door, so calmly, as if she had long expected this day to come.
She was escorted downstairs by the police, encountering Justin Kingston and Mia Lane.
"President Lane, the earrings and necklace are with Monica Usher. She threatened me! Forced me to swap them!! I’ve confessed! Can I get a reduced sentence for that?!" The captured woman seemed somewhat agitated.
"Why did she only want two pieces?" Mia Lane asked softly.
Barbara Sutton, handcuffed, replied, "It’s not that she wanted only two pieces. I lied and gave only two pieces. I didn’t want any more entanglements with her, so I planned to take the money and run!"
Her statement caused a stir in the audience!
Monica Usher finally understood why she had been unable to contact Barbara Sutton for so long; she had been caught.
"How could she be so evil?! So vicious?!" Someone in the audience pointed at Monica Usher and cursed, "To do such despicable things?"
All eyes turned to Monica Usher!
Newsom was very angry, sternly saying, "Ms. Usher, you fooled me? You swapped the genuine items and then had me authenticate them? Causing the Kingston Group to be wronged?"
Monica Usher was left speechless, unable to look anyone in the eye, appearing guilty.
Accusations flooded all at once! Like a tide crashing over her! The hall was in an uproar.
Then, Aaron Abbott spoke again, "The box contains genuine items, but that does not mean what the Kingston Group presented earlier was inferior! We discovered and handled it in time!"
He asserted confidently, "To expose Ms. Usher’s true colors, we did not alert her unduly! Instead, we crafted two additional genuine pieces! Using their wits to resolve a crisis intentionally caused by deceit!"
"Now, Ms. Monica Usher," Aaron Abbott focused his gaze on Monica Usher, "is there a need for a video call with Barbara Sutton? Would you like to defend yourself some more?"
