Chapter 824: The Woman in the Trap
Chapter 824: The Woman in the Trap
"..." Monica Usher’s heart skipped a beat, naturally understanding his intention.Lydia Ingram stepped forward!
Facing the man’s cold and deep gaze, Monica couldn’t help but tighten her grip on the backpack strap, instinctively taking a step back.
Lydia’s relentless approach forced Monica to retreat step by step.
Ultimately, Monica retreated into the living room, bumping into the sofa. She had nowhere to retreat, and her heart was in her throat.
Lydia stopped right in front of her, his gaze coldly fixated on her, "She posed no threat to you. Why did you have to kill her?"
He knew?
He was well-informed indeed.
With her throat tightening, Monica steadied herself and coldly said, "If someone deserves to die, they should die."
"Tell me, why did you kill your mother?!" Lydia asked with restraint, "Give me a reason! A reason that would make me spare you!"
Monica felt that he was about to go mad but also concluded that he wouldn’t really do anything. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be asking for a reason and would have already acted against her.
"If someone deserves to die, there’s no need for a reason." Monica looked like someone ready to face death.
And Lydia knew the grievances between mother and daughter were definitely more complicated than Grace White had mentioned.
Monica would not bring up those unbearable past events again.
"She was my woman." Lydia reached out and choked her, warning harshly, "Even when you beat a dog, you look at its owner! And you killed her!"
Monica’s throat felt unbearably tight, not expecting him to actually lay a hand on her!
But Lydia wanted to warn her to become aware of her status and not act too recklessly in the future!
She didn’t want to plead for mercy, feeling thoroughly exhausted, resigned to her fate, she closed her eyes, certain that Lydia was merely venting, knowing he wouldn’t go any further with the product launch happening shortly.
The next second, Lydia let go.
Before she could catch her breath, he dragged her into the bedroom!
He pushed her onto the bed, sleeping with her early in the morning.
After a bout of tossing and turning, Monica coughed twice, utterly exhausted.
"Today’s just a lesson for you." Lydia stood before the bed, fastening his shirt buttons, "Don’t think you can do whatever you want because of a special status. With me, there are no exceptions."
He said, "Your mother served me for many years, worked for my benefit, yet I could discard her anytime. I knew she hadn’t died suddenly, but neither did I bother seeking justice for her; cremated, she won’t even have a decent burial, as if she never existed in my life."
Monica thought again about Ariel Chandler’s death. They said Justin Kingston was unfeeling, but Lydia Ingram might just be the master!
"Let me ask you one question," Monica, sitting on the bed, covered her scratched body with the quilt, "Did you find something out and deliberately arrange for her to call me, inciting fear, confidently anticipating that I would turn to you for help, falling right into your trap?"
"The always clever President Usher seemed rather slow to react this time." Lydia, hands in pockets, sneered slightly, glancing at her from the corner of his eye, "Without her divine assist, how could the proud and aloof you have become so quickly at my mercy?"
"..." Watching him turn to leave, Monica’s heart sank heavily.
This was a setup, right from the start.
So ruthless... so ruthless!!
And Lydia knew, even if he left, Monica would obediently show up at the new product launch later.
She was a woman with a strong heart.
She had always wanted to see Justin embarrassed, her constant wish, for which she fought so long, waiting just for today.
Sure enough, Monica collected her emotions, took a shower, used half a bottle of body wash, scrubbing every inch of her skin, the entire bathroom filled with bubbles, feeling utterly filthy!!
She wanted revenge!!
She wanted revenge against Lydia Ingram!!
Someday, she would gather all evidence of his crimes and send him to prison!
Monica changed into clean clothes and went downstairs. As soon as she arrived at the breakfast shop entrance, the smell of pastries inside made her feel nauseous, desperately wanting to vomit!
