Chapter 821: CEO Kingston, Something’s Happened
Zachary Merce listened to these words and felt a deep ache in his heart. He always wanted to give his daughter the best, but when it came to matters of the heart, he was powerless. What good was having great power? You can’t buy love with money.
The banquet hadn’t completely ended yet when Justin Kingston, along with his wife and children, bid farewell to the Morgan family.
Because there was still important business tomorrow, they had to head back to Riventhal tonight to review some documents.
"CEO Kingston, Mrs. Kingston, take care!"
The Morgan family felt deeply honored by their visit, making the occasion even more splendid, and they dared not show even a hint of negligence.
As the helicopter just took off, Gigi and Dolly squinted, their voices soft—
"Mommy, I’m a bit sleepy."
"Mommy, I’m sleepy too."
"Alright, go take a nap." Mia Lane got up and settled them on the small bed, taking off their shoes and tucking them in.
Very soon, the children closed their eyes, and Mia emerged.
"Were they tired out from running around the lawn?" Justin Kingston noticed Mia sitting across from him and asked, "Are they asleep?"
"They’ve closed their eyes. I think they’re really tired. Kids have a lot of energy, but they do tire easily. Grandma said they didn’t nap today and were playing chase all morning at the amusement park."
"No wonder." A gentle warmth appeared in Justin Kingston’s deep gaze, "Tonight they can have a good sleep."
Just then, Justin Kingston’s phone rang. He took a look at the caller ID, and his expression subtly changed.
Mia noticed the change in his expression and became inexplicably tense, "Who is it?"
The launch of the True Love series was tomorrow, and the company had been preparing for this for so long. Lydia Ingram and Monica Usher had been overseeing things for a while now; could something unexpected be happening at this critical moment?
Justin raised his eyes to give his wife a glance, slid his long finger over the answer button, gently placed the phone to his ear, and the other side urgently reported, "CEO Kingston, something’s happened!"
"Go on," Justin’s voice was deep and steady.
"Grace White is dead."
"..." Justin’s handsome face tightened, a cold glint flashed in his deep eyes.
Although Mia didn’t hear what was said on the other end, seeing Justin’s expression, she knew something must have gone wrong.
In the large courtyard of the Morgan family’s villa, most of the guests had not yet left, many were listening to Grandpa Morgan and Grandpa Bai narrating stories from the past...
They all sighed about how today’s steady and happy life had not come easily.
Dennis Hale stood by the pool taking a call, one hand in his pocket, giving instructions to the other person, his expression slightly grave.
"Dad!"
Upon hearing the voice, he turned to see his daughter running towards him. Dennis Hale spoke a few more words to the other end softly before hanging up.
His slightly wrinkled face immediately turned to a smile, "Hailey."
"Dad, I’ve been looking for you for so long!" Hailey Hale said happily as she stopped beside him, "Finn Morgan and I are planning to head back to Riventhal. There’s an important launch event at the company tomorrow, and he must attend!"
"Now?"
"Yes!" The girl nodded.
"Are you driving there?"
"Yes, Justin has already left, and Finn’s car is still here, so it’s not convenient to take the helicopter," the girl said. "I’ll keep him company, talking on the highway isn’t too slow either."
"Make sure you both stay safe on the road," Dennis Hale advised, "Remember to stay home tonight, otherwise your mom will fuss."
Hailey Hale let out a laugh, "You think too much, huh?"
"Your mom does worry a lot," the middle-aged man explained.
"Alright, alright!" She promised her dad, "Bye-bye!" Hailey Hale turned to leave.
Then Finn Morgan and Hailey bade farewell to the family elders and went to the courtyard. He opened the car door for her like a gentleman, protecting her as she got in.
As the car drove away, this scene fell into Melissa Merce’s view. Sitting in the front passenger seat of her father’s car, her eyes finally welled up.
"They’ve all left. Shouldn’t you be heading home too?" Zachary Merce asked softly.
