Chapter 842 362: Walking the Life and Death Boundary (Part 3)

At the limits of their vision.

About three or four kilometers from their position, they could see a large gathering of undead forming a long line, moving forward into the distance.

That large group of undead, of all varieties, like a continuous stream, connected to the Life and Death Boundary like a pipeline.

"It's really... a massive army," Chadite murmured.

Alka looked at the size of this army.

Suddenly, he frowned, turned his head to Jilenna, and asked, "How many of these transport routes are there in total?"

"Four."

"Is each one as large as this?"

Jilenna shook her head, her expression also somewhat serious.

"The latest intelligence from not long ago didn't report such exaggerated numbers; it was much less then."

"So it means now the Life and Death Boundary has amassed a large force at the border? Damn, could it be..."

Several people had troubling thoughts.

They turned to look at the Silent Saintess just behind them.

The Silent Saintess looked at the three of them, shook her head slightly, and gave them a reassuring look. Then she gently waved her hand and walked toward the area of the Life and Death Boundary.

Seeing this, although the three were slightly worried.

But apparently, the fortress might have already discovered and prepared for it without needing much of their concern.

Following the Silent Saintess, they moved forward.

Soon they passed through the island's forest, and ahead was a desolate area. It was a complete contrast to the lush greenery on this side.

That side was filled with gray-black plants, each appearing somewhat withered, as if they were about to wilt.

Even the ground was gray-black and cracked.

On such land, there were still some plants struggling to survive.

It made the environment feel exceedingly strange.

Even the sky was enveloped in a dull hue.

As if a wall of Isolation separated the inside from the outside.

They silently watched.

Then, following the Saintess, they walked into the area of the Life and Death Boundary.

Once they passed through the membrane, a sweet scent filled the air, seemingly mingled with a peculiar odor.

The environment, the smell, including what their skin felt, made them extremely uncomfortable here.

"Do you guys feel anything weird, like something is watching us?"

Sensitive Chadite seemed to notice something amiss and asked.

Alka nodded, but this feeling wasn't very distinct to him; only by focusing intently could he sense it more clearly.

As for Jilenna, she barely had that sensation.

The Silent Saintess ahead turned back to look at Chadite, slightly surprised.

Surprised that someone at Third Stage could have such keen senses.

Then she gave everyone a reassuring look.

Holy Light energy appeared in her palm, gently sprinkling over them.

That strange feeling dissipated, and even the discomfort from the surrounding environment disappeared.

Though still uneasy, it was much better than before.

The island was sloped.

Passing through the gray-white cracked area, they entered the swampy region.

And this area truly revealed the nature of a swamp.

Though called the Sea of Moisture, it only resembled a swamp slightly.

There was merely a layer of vines beneath the water's surface.

It was quite different from a swamp.

But the area before them was entirely different, with green grass floating on the vines.

They could even see the roots of some short branches exposed.

Under the green plants, however, were exposed gray-white roots and a strange smell.

The floating plants made it hard to see below.

This was a real swamp, exactly like one.

The Saintess walked in front.

Alka and the others followed closely, while Chadite spread a faint silver ripple, constantly probing the surroundings.

The swamp area was indeed difficult to traverse.

Some exposed plant roots were like real land, albeit soft but walkable.

But a careless step could easily result in a misstep, suddenly tipping someone over.

The water below was extraordinarily murky, making it hard to see beneath.

While walking, they easily got entangled in the roots of the plants below.

After a few steps, Alka saw various plant roots and vines wrapped around his legs, frowning in irritation.

Walking here really tested one's patience.

And they were already on the well-distinguished path identified by the Saintess and Chadite.

Just taking another step.

Bubbles emerged from the water's surface with a gurgling sound.

Then a shattered skull floated up, bobbing on the muddy water.

Seeing the skull, Alka simply pushed it aside impatiently.

Light suddenly gathered at Chadite's fingertips, flung outward with a flick.

The underbrush emitted a dreadful hissing sound.

A roughly arm-length green slender snake writhed.

A small hole was punched through it, oozing dark blood.

The oozing blood exuded a nauseating stench of decay.

Upon closer inspection, it was an undead creature intermingled with rotting flesh and green plants.

The Saintess merely waved her hand gently, and pale Holy Fire ignited on the corpse. The soft sound reduced it to ashes.

The small episode didn't hinder their progress.

Still silent, they remained vigilant, continuing their cautious journey forward.

The entire swamp was silent.

Except for the splashes they made walking through the water.

And the ripples their movements spread through the water.

In the silence, countless undead seemed to have set their sights on him.
