Chapter 444 - 231: The Dream of an Outsider_2
"By the way, Alka, some outsiders came to the island today on a very large merchant ship," Lucilia suddenly said, as if she remembered something.
"Outsiders?" Alka became interested.
"Are they the group of people mentioned in the previous information, who regularly come to trade on this island?"
Lucilia nodded.
"So tell me, what did you see today?"
Following Alka’s question, Lucilia began to recount to him what they had seen at the port.
After listening, Alka rubbed his chin and pondered for a moment.
At this moment, Jason staggered back, reeking of alcohol.
"How did it go? Did you gather any information?" Alka looked at him and asked suddenly.
Clear water welled from Jason’s hand; he washed his face, then shook his head.
"Many of the old Hunters aren’t very familiar with these ruins, even though they frequently deal with problems caused by them. However, there are some clues. I’ll delve deeper tomorrow, but don’t get your hopes up. They rarely study these ruins. Even if some information is known, ordinary Hunters like them wouldn’t be privy to it."
Upon hearing this, Alka nodded, neither pressing the issue nor questioning further.
Anyway, when it came to information gathering, there was surely no one on the ship more professional than Jason.
If Jason couldn’t gather anything, then they would have to spend more time in the Dream Realm asking questions.
"But I am curious about those outsiders. I’m very curious about the overall situation in the Endless Sea. We need to find a chance to talk to them," Jason said, leaning against the fire and watching the sparks dance in the flames.
Since most of the island’s inhabitants had never left, they knew surprisingly little about the specifics of the Endless Sea.
Hearing this, Alka nodded as well.
Then he said, "I plan to spend the entire night in the Dream Realm, hoping to encounter the Dream Bubbles of those outsiders."
Clearly, this was the best method for collecting information from strangers.
Upon hearing this, Jason nodded as well.
"If you gather any information, remember to tell me tomorrow morning so I can jot it down and see if there’s a chance to get more."
Alka nodded in agreement.
After enjoying the barbecue feast made from the day’s hunt, Alka eagerly returned to his room and submerged himself into the Dream Realm.
He woke up inside his own Dream Bubble.
Within the giant, floating Crystal Stone at the center of his Dream Bubble, Alka could see numerous golden Energy spheres darting about. A considerable amount of silver Energy could also be seen, definitely more than before.
Alka had long known how this silver Energy was acquired. Roughly once every twenty-four hours, the first time Alka entered his Dream Bubble during that cycle, some silver Energy would materialize. Alka had tested the refresh time; it seemed to refresh every night. Apart from that, he had found no other ways to acquire it. Moreover, the amount acquired each time wasn’t always the same—sometimes more, sometimes less—and he didn’t know what factors determined this. But in any case, having a stable method of acquisition was surely a good thing.
Additionally, surrounding the floating Crystal Stone were various dream materials. Alka considered them useful and hadn’t converted them into Energy of the Dream Realm, instead piling them up nearby. They might be of use someday, he thought. Especially after arriving in the Endless Sea, although he had obtained many materials on the island, he currently didn’t have much free time to attend to them.
After flying out of his own Dream Bubble, his first task, naturally, was to clear the dream creatures from around his teammates’ Dream Bubbles.
In the town’s gathering area, the surrounding dream creatures were appallingly numerous. It seemed impossible to clear them all. Alka typically cleared them once when he entered the Dream Realm each night, and again before leaving. Sometimes, he would even clear them an additional time in between. However, it was fundamentally useless. No sooner would he clear them than he’d return to find another large horde of various dream creatures attempting to breach the Dream Bubbles to extract the Energy within. The more concentrated the gathering area, the more creatures it attracted.
Alka had no better solution for this; he could only clear them repeatedly. Eventually, he resorted to only clearing those that looked strong enough to potentially pierce the bubbles and invade the dream. As for the weaker ones... forget it. Let them scratch. They probably couldn’t even break the surface before the dreamer wakes up, Alka thought.
Watching the Dream Bubbles around him gradually multiply as night deepened, Alka irritably scratched his hair. To Alka, one stranger’s Dream Bubble was much like another, differing basically only in size and luster.
Fortunately, however, he wouldn’t need to search them one by one today. When Jason had returned earlier, he had told Alka where in the physical town the personnel from the visiting merchant ship were quartered. Although the distance between the Dream Realm and reality fluctuated, making it impossible to pinpoint their exact location, just knowing the general direction would significantly reduce Alka’s repetitive searching.
With this in mind, Alka set off, searching in the opposite direction to the one Jason had indicated.
