Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 416 - 222 Day and Night

Chapter 416 - 222 Day and Night

Staring at the black dot in the distance, the Sound of Dawn began to steer in that direction. This would be their first Island encounter in the Endless Sea.

As they drew closer, it became clear that the Island was enormous. What they had initially perceived as a black dot was merely a tiny, protruding corner of it. As they sailed on, an expansive coastline stretched out, completely filling their entire field of view.

Could it be a continent? This thought first occurred to Alka. It wasn’t odd for him to think this way. He had been in this world for a long time and had never encountered an Island in the distant Ocean with a coastline that stretched beyond his entire field of vision.

For the others on the ship, however, the concept of a continent was entirely foreign to them. They naturally assumed that what lay ahead was just a very large Island. Only Lucilia had ever heard the word "continent," and that was in ancient myths and epics.

Seeing this, Alka immediately waved at Chadite. "Chadite, can you use your Ring of Light to control the surrounding light and make the ship achieve Invisibility?"

Whether it was a continent or an Island ahead, there could be intelligent life. Given they were new arrivals, caution was paramount.

"Control the light to make the ship achieve Invisibility?" Chadite asked, puzzled. How could that be done? Is there any connection between controlling light and Invisibility?

Upon hearing this, Alka couldn’t help but scratch his head. How am I supposed to explain this? After a moment’s thought, he created a Mirror that enveloped the ship’s surroundings. Then he explained, "It’s about refracting light. You transmit the scene from one side to the other, making the entire ship appear transparent."

He then instructed the Sound of Dawn to slow down, eventually bringing it to a complete stop on the Ocean surface. Alka began to explain the basic principle of using light refraction to achieve Invisibility. He didn’t know the specific details himself, but he could outline the general concept.

That he remembered even these general principles was likely a testament to some past effort, though in truth, they mostly came from videos he’d idly browsed.

For Chadite, who could control light, success seemed achievable if she could experiment and master the precise manipulation required for this Invisibility. The others, however, looked utterly bewildered, understanding nothing. Simon was an exception; he seemed to grasp some of it and was deep in thought.

However, Chadite’s innate ability to control light meant her understanding of it surpassed everyone else present, including Alka. After all, Alka’s knowledge was limited to simple theories from his past, and this world was vastly different.

With Alka’s explanation, Chadite seemed to understand the concept. But when she began to experiment, it proved far from easy. Several tens of minutes passed with no discernible effect.

The primary challenge was Chadite’s lack of fine control over light. Her previous practice had focused entirely on gathering and projecting it. She had hardly any practice in this particular aspect. Clearly, they couldn’t wait indefinitely.

After almost an hour, Chadite had only managed to make the surrounding area distorted and blurry, which ironically made them even more conspicuous. It looked like progress, however. But true success remained a distant prospect.

Chadite shook her head. "No, although I think it’s feasible, I can’t do it right now."

"Alright," Alka said after a moment’s thought, "I’ll use the Mirror to help you." His Mirror’s effect might be cruder, but its crudeness allowed it to directly achieve certain desired outcomes.

With that said, Alka made a Mirror Surface materialize on his face, though it reflected no image. He raised his hands. A liquid-like Mirror flowed out, forming a hemispherical dome that encased the entire ship. Alka then controlled the Mirror, making it project the scenery from one side of the dome to the other.

This method wasn’t flawless. Close observation would reveal noticeable shimmering or misalignments in the projected scenery as the ship moved, especially if viewed from different angles. However, the vastness of the Ocean and the bright sunlight would help mask these imperfections. The natural surroundings would aid the ship’s concealment, unless someone was already convinced something was amiss in this specific spot.

To further enhance the Invisibility, Alka asked Chadite to use her light control for an additional layer of concealment. With their combined efforts, the ship’s Invisibility became perfect. Of course, this was merely a temporary measure until Chadite could master achieving Invisibility through light refraction alone.

Once everything was ready, Alka said to the Sound of Dawn, "Alright, proceed. Remember, slowest possible speed. Go slowly." Going too fast would make it difficult to hide their passage, and any visual distortion would become far too obvious.

The Sound of Dawn began to move slowly across the sea’s surface. Everyone eagerly anticipated what new sights awaited them on the Island.

As they progressed, they soon reached the coastline that filled their view to the horizon. It was clear the Island’s size would surpass their wildest imaginations. It might even be a continent, for they could see no end to the coastline in any direction.
