Chapter 965 - 963: A Private Betrothal

Chapter 965 - 963: A Private Betrothal

The rings on their fingers, both in terms of size and style, seemed perfectly fitting. After putting them on, they appeared delighted, smiling as they extended their ring fingers to compare, before silently clasping their hands together.

The payment for the rings was made by Da Bao.

Of course, Nuonuo initially intended to pay, but before she could take out her card, Da Bao had already handed his card to the store clerk.

In matters like these, Nuonuo felt no need to argue with Da Bao, and when it came to money, neither she nor Da Bao differentiated between what’s hers and his. Moreover, all the money she earned from acting or endorsements now went directly to Da Bao, leaving her with only a card he gave her for pocket money.

As for the limit on the pocket money card, she had no idea. Regardless, she had never maxed out the card.

Their hearts overflowing with joy, they walked out of the jewelry store, hand in hand, with smiles on their faces. Da Bao had realized that Nuonuo’s trip today wasn’t truly for buying gifts for Tian Fang’s little baby but rather had another purpose.

Today’s trip was definitely premeditated by Nuonuo, including the ring’s design and size; she had probably communicated with the store beforehand.

Of course, Da Bao had no intention of exposing Nuonuo’s plan. Being a perceptive person, he would never waste her efforts and intentions.

But the world is unpredictable, and no matter how intelligent a person is, sometimes they can guess the beginning but often guess the wrong ending.

And Da Bao was the same!

There was over an hour until Nuonuo’s makeup appointment, so Da Bao drove the car slowly. During the drive, neither Da Bao nor Nuonuo talked much.

The car was filled with subtle, sweet ambiguity.

Da Bao’s lips curled into a smile, his face constantly showing an intriguing smile. Occasionally, he would turn his head to glance at Nuonuo, then slowly move his gaze back to the front.

After repeating this several times, Nuonuo couldn’t help herself anymore, "Ji Yu, can you stop smiling like that? It’s creepy!"

Da Bao good-naturedly reached over and took her left hand, giving her a doting smile as he gently rubbed the ring on her ring finger.

"So, Ji Sihan, we’ve practically sealed the deal today!"

Nuonuo rolled her eyes at him, "Idiot!"

Da Bao smiled and said nothing. Being called an idiot was hardly bothersome for someone who’s been praised as a genius since childhood.

When Da Bao drove near the styling room, it was just after 2:30. Seeing there were still over 20 minutes left, he parked the car in a nearby parking spot on the main road.

Nuonuo thought he parked because finding a spot ahead might be difficult, so she was about to unbuckle her seatbelt and get out, but Da Bao held her hand to stop her, "What’s the rush? We still have over twenty minutes."

Nuonuo looked at him in confusion, not understanding his intention.

"Let’s sit here and wait; we can head over at three."

After giving instructions, Da Bao got out of the car to swipe the parking card.

Nuonuo felt her brother was incredibly silly today. It seems the saying that love makes people blind and foolish isn’t entirely unfounded.

The ever-loving Young Master Ji, and Nuonuo, waited in the car until 2:55 before he started the car. Along the way, they bought several boxes of pastries and promptly delivered Nuonuo to the styling studio at three.

Si Jun had already arrived at the studio ahead of time and took the pastries Da Bao brought, distributing them among the staff.

Nuonuo followed the stylist and makeup artist inside, while Da Bao and Si Jun sat in the adjacent lounge, engaging in a conversation. Their expressions were stern, seemingly discussing business rather than personal matters.

At five o’clock, Si Han, dressed elegantly, accompanied by Si Jun and Da Bao to either side, walked the red carpet.

Today, she chose a peacock-themed evening dress. The upper part was a light green sleeveless sheer top with a shawl, and the bottom a deep green, wide hem skirting, which fluttered like a peacock displaying its feathers as she gracefully strolled down the forest avenue, splendid yet never tacky.

Beside her, one of the men wore a formal white shirt with a black suit that didn’t seem dull, while the other sported a casual dark grey shirt with two buttons undone at the collar, paired with a same-color casual suit, stunningly handsome and tall.

As soon as the trio hit the red carpet, the media went into a frenzy.

Everyone recognized Si Jun, the assistant, but the other was identified by some as Young Master Ji, though they could only gape as he gracefully escorted Si Han onto the stage. Those unfamiliar began whispering, speculating whether he was Xinying’s newly signed artist or the male lead in Si Han’s new film, yet no one dared guess beyond that given Young Master Ji’s looks, easily outshining numerous popular stars.

Who would’ve thought this person, who could easily rely on his looks alone for fame, would indeed be the competent general manager of the Ji Empire, second only to the president?

Ji Yu and Si Jun escorted Si Han to the ceremony hostess and then returned to the seats in the audience.

During the media interviews, inquiries about the strikingly handsome man were common. Si Han continued her usual evasive skill, smiling while glancing far off at the refined figure comfortably seated.

"Who is he? Why don’t you ask him yourself, I’m not quite sure either!"

The reporters, knowing the significance of the man, certainly wouldn’t dare to approach him casually.

As guests gradually entered the venue, Si Han casually dealt with the reporters and successfully redirected the topic to the arriving guests, gracefully extracting herself.

Si Han’s seat was centrally located in the front row of the audience, with Da Bao and Si Jun on either side of her.

"Are you cold?"

Though the venue had heating, Nuonuo’s attire was still thin.

Nuonuo shook her head, but Da Bao was already removing his coat and considerately draping it over her.

"Wear it for now; take it off when it’s your turn to go up." To Da Bao, Nuonuo’s health was always a priority over her looks.

"I might not even have a chance to go up..." Nuonuo responded calmly with a smile.

"Hmm, whether or not, it’s amazing to have been nominated!" Da Bao replied with equal tranquility.

Si Jun, seated beside them, couldn’t decide whether to laugh or cry at their conversation.

After a long prelude and a hefty amount of banter from the host, the award ceremony finally got underway, smoothly revealing each award.

For the earlier awards, Si Han wasn’t nominated, and she watched relaxedly.

It wasn’t until the presenter announced the nominees for Best Actress, mentioning Si Han’s name, that she felt a hint of nervousness.

Ji Yu seemed to sense her unease, silently extending his hand and tightly gripping hers beneath the curtain of her gown.
