Chapter 957 - 955: Did I Raise a Pig?
Not long after New Year’s Day, Nuonuo faced her final exam week of university life. After finishing her exams, Nuonuo surprisingly told Tian Fang that she wanted to take a week’s holiday.
With a little over a month until Tian Fang was due to give birth, she had mostly stopped running around everywhere. However, she still returned to Xinying every day to handle affairs, managing a group of agents and artists. Nuonuo’s work always had to go through her hands.
When Tian Fang heard Nuonuo’s request, she couldn’t help but feel puzzled.
Over the years, it was common for Nuonuo to proactively request work arrangements, but asking for a week’s holiday was unusual.
"What? Is Young Master Yu taking you on a trip?"
Tian Fang asked this, but she felt that the possibility was very low. After all, the end of the year is the busiest time for major companies. Not to mention Ji Yu, the general manager of the Ji Family, even Zhao Hao, the branch manager, was working overtime every day, often going on business trips for a week without being seen.
"No, I just want to take a break..."
Tian Fang was momentarily at a loss; the voice coming through the phone indeed carried a hint of fatigue. Perhaps, she was tired from preparing for exams.
"Alright, I’ll arrange a week off for you for now. Just make sure to attend the various award ceremonies next month."
"Okay, thanks, Sister Fang!"
Just after Nuonuo hung up the phone, Aunt Guan’s voice came from outside the door, reminding her that it was time for lunch, but she lay in bed not wanting to move.
That morning, after finishing her last exam, a few good friends planned to go out for lunch together. However, for some reason, after finishing the exam, she felt very sleepy and tired, wanting to go home to sleep. In the end, she had to cancel the outing and let the driver take her home to nap.
"Aunt Guan, I’m really tired. I’ll sleep a bit and then get up to eat."
Si Han didn’t force herself, directly pulling the blanket over and closing her eyes to sleep for a while.
Aunt Guan assumed she was too exhausted and didn’t say much, just reminded her to reheat the meal before eating after waking up, then went out shopping.
Nuonuo slept until after three, yet despite sleeping for several hours, she still felt weak and sore all over.
Nuonuo thought to herself, it seems I made the right decision taking this week’s holiday. I’ve really been pushing too hard lately; my body’s limits are seemingly overwhelmed!
Nuonuo got out of bed and reheated the meal. Perhaps because she slept too long, she had no appetite at all when looking at the feast, and in the end, she had to force herself to eat half a bowl of rice.
In the evening, the whole family gathered for dinner, but she still had no appetite. Da Bao reached out to touch her head and looked at her worriedly, "What’s wrong? Are you tired from the recent exam preparations?"
Nuonuo wanted to shake her head but ended up nodding and then began to make fun of herself.
"If my brain worked like Brother’s and Little Treasure’s, I wouldn’t worry about such trivial matters as exams."
"Sister, wasn’t today your last exam? You won’t have to worry about exams anymore," Little Treasure rarely comforted Nuonuo.
"Do you have any schedules later?" Le Tong, as a mother, wanted to tell her daughter to take a break, but couldn’t say it directly, so she had to ask indirectly.
"I asked Sister Fang to arrange a week off for me. For this coming week, I plan to eat until full, sleep, and then eat again until full..."
Da Bao pinched her somewhat pale face with a smile, "Am I raising a pig?"
For the following week, Nuonuo proved Ji Dabao’s words with her actions; she indeed was like a small lazy pig he kept at home.
The entire week was mostly spent eating and sleeping. Apart from that, she went online and read books, rarely stepping out of the courtyard.
On Sunday, Da Bao finally worried she would be too bored at home and struggled to reschedule some of his work to spend time with her going out.
But who knew she wouldn’t be interested at all.
On that Sunday, she slept until eleven before getting out of bed, ate lunch at home, and when Da Bao suggested taking her out to walk around, she nestled into her strawberry sofa, unwilling to move.
"Brother, I don’t want to go..." Nuonuo lazily lifted her eyelids, looking at Da Bao with eyes that resembled someone who hadn’t fully awoken, with a hint of dreamy sleepiness.
Da Bao crouched down halfway in front of her, holding her head with one hand, kissing her, and holding her hands with the other, "Really don’t want to move?"
Nuonuo rested her face in his neck, lazily humming, "Hmm..."
"Alright, then we won’t go anywhere; I’ll stay at home with you today, okay?"
"Hmm..."
Nuonuo lazily hummed, then wrapped her arms around his back, burrowing her head into his embrace.
Da Bao helplessly caressed her back, kneeling half-way to hug her.
After a while, Da Bao started to feel numb in his legs, so he simply carried her, bringing her back to bed, letting her snuggle on top of him, offering a pampering look as if he indulged her to sleep if she desired or play if she wanted.
As for himself, he picked up a book and began to read slowly.
Nuonuo lay on top of him, motionless like a dead dog. Da Bao read a few Chapters, eventually feeling unaccustomed to her quietness. Although she wasn’t overly lively, there were rarely cold moments, and she seldom appeared this lethargic in front of him.
Slightly frowning, he brushed aside the hair on her forehead and kissed her smooth forehead gently.
"Nuonuo, are you feeling unwell anywhere? Let me take you to the hospital for a check-up."
Nuonuo didn’t even open her eyes, just shook her head vigorously, "I’m fine, just over-exhausted myself previously, now I just want to rest well."
Her words left Da Bao without a rebuttal.
Although she didn’t take any movie roles this semester, she had to juggle her studies while cooperating with a series of promotions and signings after her album release. Up to the day she finished her exams, she indeed hadn’t enjoyed a full day of proper rest.
"Since you have nothing coming up, take a long break, rest until after the New Year before arranging any schedule."
Nuonuo squinted her eyes, lying on his chest, for quite some time before finally saying, "We’ll see..."
When Nuonuo said "we’ll see," Da Bao assumed she had many work arrangements coming up, so he called Tian Fang.
Tian Fang seemed very surprised, "No, from now until the Spring Festival, I haven’t dared to arrange anything for her, but a few major award ceremonies have already sent invitations. She just needs to attend those."
Da Bao asked Tian Fang to send over the schedule of the major award ceremonies, and promptly, he set up the itinerary on Nuonuo’s phone memo, telling her to rest assured on her holiday.
Nuonuo thus blissfully lazed around for over half a month until the end of the month’s certain music award ceremony, only then did she reluctantly step out of the Ji Family’s door.
By that time, Tian Fang had already started her maternity leave, so Si Jun, the boss’s assistant, came to pick up Si Han for the award ceremony.
