Chapter 560 - 559: You Have Such a Great Relationship! (Second Update)
"Hmm, it’s not just from childhood, right? The demeanor and temperament now also resemble about five or six parts."Le Tong was momentarily stunned but quickly smiled at the two elderly people, "I am my father’s daughter, so naturally, I resemble him."
A glint flashed in the Old Master’s eyes, "It’s a pity I was in such a hurry today that I forgot to bring a photo of Weikang for the girl to see."
Actually, it wasn’t forgotten; the Old Master feared Le Tong still couldn’t accept this fact, so he didn’t want to bring it to upset her.
"Next time then." Le Tong wasn’t in a hurry at all.
The more she interacted with the Old Master, the stronger Le Tong’s innate sense of closeness to him became.
"I suppose Father looks quite like you, right?"
Le Tong spoke as if it was unintentional, but it made the Old Master’s hand tremble as he flipped through the photo album.
"How do you know? Have you remembered?" the Old Master asked somewhat eagerly.
Le Tong first shook her head, then nodded, "Hmm, vaguely some memory; I think it should be quite similar."
The Old Master looked at Le Tong in silence for a while, then sighed deeply, "Yes, among your father’s brothers, he looked the most like me, even his temperament was the same, which is why it reached the point of being irreconcilable..."
When he mentioned his youngest son, the Old Master looked somber.
"Sir..." Uncle Jing seemed to want to console him.
The Old Master, reminded, glanced at Le Tong, afraid she would be upset, quickly concealing the gloom in his eyes. "Forget it, let’s not talk about this."
Le Tong, unwilling to repeatedly touch on the old man’s painful spot, pointed at the photos and spoke of some childhood anecdotes, of course, those anecdotes were what Mrs. Le later told her.
The Old Master listened intently; as he listened, he seemed as if he was watching Le Tong grow from a little baby in her arms to the beautiful young lady before him.
After looking through the photo album, Le Tong, thinking the old man had rested enough, helped him up and led him around the small room.
The old man looked attentively even though the place wasn’t big, spending another half hour this way, and there was a hint of fatigue in the elderly Old Master’s eyes.
"Uncle Jing, where did you book your hotel?"
Uncle Jing was momentarily stunned, "We came in a hurry, didn’t have time to book a hotel."
The Old Master’s trip to R City was impromptu. As soon as he got off the plane, he hastily followed Yang Sheng’s given address to find Ji Rui’s apartment, not having had the mind to worry about accommodations.
"Then let’s find a hotel nearby; I see you’re both tired, take a rest first."
Le Tong led the two out the door, intending to instruct the bodyguard outside to call and book a room; after hesitating for a while, the Old Master finally couldn’t help but speak.
"Girl, your house is quite big too. How about staying at your place directly? I’m not used to hotels..."
This excuse would sound unconvincing to anyone.
Le Tong was no exception; however, before she could say anything, the Old Master added, "I rarely come here, and I’d like more time to see Baobao and Nuonuo. It’s always inconvenient staying at a hotel."
With the Old Master putting it this way, what more could Le Tong say?
"Okay, then let’s go back."
After all this hustle, when they returned to Ji Rui’s apartment, the Old Master’s energy was noticeably diminished.
Le Tong had already called home to have Aunt Guan prepare the guest room. After returning to the apartment, settling Uncle Jing and the Old Master, and watching the Old Master fall asleep, Le Tong remembered to call Ji Rui.
Ji Rui didn’t seem surprised at all by the Old Master’s arrival, and Le Tong immediately understood, "Did our senior brother tell you?"
"Yeah." Ji Rui admitted straightforwardly.
"He didn’t make things difficult for you, did he? Do you want me to rush back now?" Ji Rui was worried that this grandparent and grandchild might push each other too hard, leading to mutual harm in the end.
"No need, he’s already asleep, you do your work." Le Tong sat down on the sofa, "By the way, we have a guest room at home anyway, so I let him stay at our place directly. You don’t mind, do you?"
This situation was clearly insisted upon by the Old Master, but Le Tong took the initiative.
She knew Ji Rui didn’t much like the Old Master. In the past, she naturally didn’t care about the relationship between these two people. But now, she somewhat realized that this person was ultimately her grandfather, and in the long run, she couldn’t let Ji Rui always be at odds with him.
"Silly, you’re the hostess; you can have anyone you like stay at our home. Why would I object?"
Obviously, Le Tong wasn’t the only one who had come around.
Le Tong wasn’t surprised by his response, "Okay, let’s have dinner at home tonight then. What do you want to eat? I’ll have Aunt Guan start preparing the ingredients."
"Anything! You and Baobao have both been coughing a few times, so let’s make some lung-soothing soup tonight. In that big pile of soup material packs Doctor Fu gave last time, there seems to be something for this."
A year ago, Ji Rui wouldn’t have cared about what to eat at night or known what ingredients and materials were stored in the refrigerator at home. But now, even if he was still not the best at cooking, he was keenly aware of the health and related matters of the people around him.
Le Tong responded and they chatted about some work matters before ending the call.
Ji Rui came back earlier than usual; when he arrived, the Old Master was chatting on the terrace rocking chair, holding Nuonuo and Baobao in his arms.
Meanwhile, Le Tong was busy in the kitchen with Aunt Guan.
Hearing the sound, Le Tong peeked out, saw it was Ji Rui, and brought out a cup of ginseng tea and a small dish of snacks.
"Have some snacks to fill up first; we’ll eat in half an hour."
Ji Rui greeted the Old Master, turned to wash his face, came back out quickly, finished the snacks, drank the ginseng tea, and carried the empty cup and dish into the kitchen.
Aunt Guan, who was helping out, quickly took the cup and dish over, turning on the tap.
Ji Rui didn’t mind the others being there, "Need any help?" he said, leaning in to peck Le Tong’s lips lightly twice.
"No need, just help eat!"
Le Tong knew better than anyone that the person before her, capable and skillful in everything else, became a fool once inside the kitchen; his ability was even lower than that of the six-year-old Baobao.
The greatest skill was washing dishes. Other than that, all skills were negative.
"Shall I keep you company then?"
Ji Rui effectively ignored Aunt Guan as a backdrop, wrapping an arm around Le Tong’s waist, resting his chin on her shoulder. Accompaniment or supervision, it was more supervision-like.
"You are heavy, is this really called keeping company? Aunt Guan helps me out; you hurry and go."
Le Tong nudged the man who had almost half his weight pressed on her, reminding him unhappily that there was a third person here.
"Alright then, I’ll wait outside to eat?"
Knowing Le Tong was shy, Ji Rui didn’t make it difficult for her, kissed her cheek, and let go before turning to leave.
"Tongtong, you and Mr. Ji have such a nice relationship!"
Aunt Guan, who hadn’t dared to say a word, finally spoke after Ji Rui left, watching the tall figure as he went.
