Chapter 541 - 540 Cooperation and Win-Win (Part 1)
Le Tong looked at Old Master’s face full of wrinkles but with a lively expression, and couldn’t help but find it amusing. The aversion she felt towards the old man gradually diminished unknowingly because of his childlike mischievousness.
She found it funny in her heart, but didn’t show it on her face. After all, with Old Master’s status, identity, and age, he definitely couldn’t tolerate a junior laughing at his awkward pride right in front of him.
Even though this awkward pride made him appear more adorable and interesting, and also increased his affability a lot, Le Tong understood that she couldn’t act recklessly in front of him.
"Yes, yes, everything I mentioned was about others, not Chairman Yang’s family."
Having learned quite a bit from Ji Rui on how to handle such a personality in elders, Le Tong naturally went along with Old Master.
As expected, Old Master’s big round eyes, which had been glaring, squinted happily because of Le Tong’s obedience, "So, are you staying tomorrow to see the results?"
The previously grumpy tone was now back to coaxing a little girl.
Le Tong thought for a moment. She had originally planned to return to R City with Luo Yifan tomorrow, but it wasn’t something very important. Compared to the old man’s urgent desire to get clarity on this matter, Luo Yifan’s matter could indeed be put aside.
Moreover, she believed that this Old Master definitely had a tenacious nature of not giving up until his goal was achieved.
Just like before, in order to convince her to take a DNA test and stay overnight, he had tried both gentle and forceful methods.
Of course, she had seen through his very straightforward intentions, and could harden her heart to refuse his various requests.
But asking her to refuse a request from an elder who perhaps didn’t have many days left, her conscience would feel a little uneasy.
So, to prevent her conscience from feeling uneasy, Le Tong silently raised a white flag in her heart: whatever, whatever, since there’s no way to avoid it, might as well straightforwardly agree to him, saving both herself and him a lot of unnecessary stress.
"Alright, we’ll look at the results tomorrow before going back."
At that moment, Le Tong had no idea that when the results were out, it wouldn’t be like she could leave whenever she wanted.
"Then it’s settled, I’ll have Ah Jing help you change the flight."
And as for Old Master, after Le Tong agreed, he showed no expression on his face, but was already joyfully planning in his heart how to warmly and grandly welcome his little granddaughter officially returning to the family tomorrow.
"Then I’ll leave first, you stay with the kids for a while."
Having obtained the answer he wanted, Old Master happily strolled away with Uncle Jing.
As he walked, he softly instructed Uncle Jing to arrange a whole bunch of affairs for tomorrow.
"Kid, the girl agreed to my request, if you want to go back, you have to do it yourself!"
Old Master couldn’t hide his triumphant expression, slightly lifting his chin with the stance of a victor when he appeared in front of Ji Rui.
Ji Rui was actually mentally prepared. After hearing Old Master’s boastful words, he said nothing and instead lowered his head to his laptop, opening a few important emails to read.
Upstairs, after checking on the two children, Le Tong also came downstairs.
"Ji Rui, you don’t have anything important tomorrow afternoon, do you?"
After agreeing to Old Master’s request, Le Tong remembered that she hadn’t discussed this matter with Ji Rui yet.
"What’s up?" Ji Rui pretended to know nothing, leaned over, and pulled Le Tong to sit beside him.
"Chairman Yang said the test results will be out at noon tomorrow, I want to look at the results before going back. If you have something important, you can go back first."
Le Tong’s thought was that she’s not a three-year-old; she can handle this kind of situation by herself. If Ji Rui has something to do, he could go back first.
Little did she know, Ji Rui had already planned that if she stayed, he would never leave her to face it alone.
"There’s nothing important, just the board’s regular meeting. I’ll notify them to postpone it by a day."
Ji Rui said, typing out a brief notice to delay the meeting and sending it to all the board members’ emails.
"Actually..." Le Tong wanted to say, "It’s not a big deal, you go back first, I can manage," but before she could finish, Ji Rui interrupted her.
"Alright, I’ve already informed the members, this is settled. Baobao and Nuonuo are still young, how can you handle it by yourself?"
Ji Rui patted Le Tong’s hand, indicating that this was decided and there was no need for further objection.
After this period of adaptation, Le Tong had slowly gotten used to Ji Rui’s care. As his secretary and assistant, she couldn’t think of any important schedule for him the next afternoon. Seeing him insist on staying with her, she didn’t persist and just nodded to acknowledge his arrangement.
Yang Sheng, who had been observing Ji Rui’s actions, mentally gave this potential brother-in-law a high score!
However, Old Master didn’t care much about whether Ji Rui stayed or not, as for Ji Rui and Le Tong’s non-marital relationship, he planned to settle accounts with Ji Rui after the results came out.
Having calculated secretly about a bunch of affairs, Old Master left the three young people, who moved from the living room to the bar. Le Tong personally brewed coffee, and the three of them talked about the future plans for joint development between Ji Family and Yang Family after Yang Sheng took office while sipping their fragrant coffee.
Of course, these development plans couldn’t be immediately implemented. For now, the focus was on Ji Family’s thorny matter in Y Country and how Yang Sheng could secure a foothold in Yang Family.
Although Yang Family’s Old Master had always supported Yang Sheng, his support was more spiritual, as he wouldn’t step in to solve the actual conflicts and difficulties Yang Sheng faced.
Because, in Old Master’s view, if Yang Sheng couldn’t handle the people in Yang Family and the board, he wasn’t fit to sit in the CEO’s position at Yang Group.
In other words, Old Master was just responsible for putting Yang Sheng on the CEO’s throne, whether he could hold onto it or not depended on Yang Sheng’s genuine abilities.
Yang Sheng clearly realized this early on, never mentioning anything about Yang Group to Old Master since returning from the party.
And Old Master, evidently retired and relaxed, had all his attention focused on Le Tong. Matters concerning Yang Sheng and Yang Group seemed no longer related to him, as he hadn’t mentioned anything when he saw Yang Sheng.
Yang Sheng and Ji Rui were discussing the possibilities and prospects for cooperation, while Le Tong mostly listened silently.
The conversations between these two men always made her feel that just listening to them talk was more insightful than reading ten years’ worth of books.
Looking at the two equally outstanding men in front of her, Le Tong briefly imagined that if these two men became enemies, it would definitely be a fierce and disastrous battle with both sides suffering significant losses!
Thinking thus, Le Tong couldn’t help but be thankful that neither now nor in the future was there a possibility of these two men becoming enemies, only a chance of a long-term alliance.
Because both men were exceedingly intelligent, they both understood the wise choice that was advantageous for them, which was cooperation and a win-win situation.
