Chapter 487 - 486: Grandpa Says You Like to Eat (Second Update)
On the evening of the next day, Le Tong took Xiao Li’s car to pick up Baobao from school. As soon as she stepped down from the car, Baobao ran over from the duty room, clutching a large bag of unknown items.
"Mommy..." Soon the little boy stood panting in front of Le Tong.
"Baobao, why are you running so fast? Mommy won’t leave!" Le Tong squatted down and gently kissed his rosy lips.
"Mommy, Baobao missed you so much..." Baobao had already thrown the big bag of unknown items to the side and opened his arms, trying to hug all of Le Tong with his short arms.
"Mommy missed Baobao too!" Le Tong said as she kissed his rosy cheeks again.
This remark was not perfunctory. Since Baobao got sick and she started accompanying him in the hospital, apart from the few days Baobao was in isolation after surgery, the mother and son had rarely gone more than twenty-four hours without seeing each other.
Baobao hugged Le Tong’s face, kissed and rubbed against her, leaving Le Tong with a face full of saliva.
"Next time Baobao returns to the mansion, will mommy accompany Baobao back, okay?"
For months, Baobao had been sticking to Le Tong like glue and couldn’t bear not seeing his mommy.
This question was really hard to answer.
Le Tong patted Baobao’s head, pretended not to hear his request, and held his hand to open the car door and helped him into the car.
The large bag of items Baobao brought out had been quietly loaded onto the car by Xiao Li and placed on the carpet in the back seat.
"Baobao, what are all these things?"
Le Tong looked at the bulging bag of items and reached out to poke it with her finger.
"Lots of things, mommy, there are things to eat, things to play with, and Baobao’s favorite fairy tale book; do you want to see it?"
Baobao tilted his head playfully and blinked at Le Tong, who hurriedly nodded.
"Of course, mommy is very curious!"
Baobao giggled and put his chubby finger on Le Tong’s face.
"Mommy is a curious baby! Hehe!"
Once done, he slid onto the carpet, struggling to lift the bag and tossed it onto the seat.
Baobao crawled into Le Tong’s arms, bent over, stuck his head into the bag, rummaged around for a while, and then presented a book to Le Tong like a treasure.
"This is Baobao’s favorite book!"
Le Tong took a closer look; it was "Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the Window."
"Does Baobao really like this book?" Le Tong accepted the book and flipped through it casually, noting that it lacked the colorful illustrations of children’s books, containing only monotonous black square characters neatly arranged on white paper.
"Yes, very much!" Baobao nodded vigorously.
"Can you understand all of it?" Le Tong thought Baobao was smart, but this book neither had pinyin nor illustrations. Could a child who just entered the senior class of kindergarten really understand it? Le Tong was skeptical.
"Of course!" Baobao smirked. "Baobao could understand it when I was in the junior class."
"Junior class?" Le Tong calculated; Baobao was in the junior class two years ago—meaning, he was less than four years old when he could understand it?
"Miss Le, Baobao can also read fairy tales in English, French, and Portuguese." Xiao Li in the driver’s seat finally couldn’t resist revealing something that left Le Tong both pleasantly surprised and struck.
The pleasant surprise was because of Baobao’s brilliance.
The shock was realizing that aside from her native language and English, she knew nothing about French, Portuguese, or these languages and characters. And Baobao, merely a six-year-old kid, knew more than she did.
"Was a tutor hired to teach Baobao?" Surely there wouldn’t be such advanced education in kindergarten, Le Tong was certain.
Xiao Li could easily see the confusion and doubt on Le Tong’s face, and continued to reveal more. "Yes, it was the CEO who hired the tutor."
"Mr. Ji hired them?" Le Tong seemed to have heard an unbelievable joke; Ji Rui didn’t seem like someone who would place such importance on early education.
"Yes, one time the little master, over three years old, clung to the CEO and wouldn’t leave. The CEO had no choice but to hold him while discussing work over the phone, during which Baobao heard him conversing in multiple languages. Afterwards, Baobao pestered Ji Rui to teach him those languages. Mr. Ji didn’t have time to teach him, so he hired several tutors to teach Baobao, and now Baobao can chat fluently with the CEO in English, French, and Portuguese."
Le Tong clicked her tongue in amazement, thinking how such an extraordinary little boy turned out to be her son; God had truly blessed her.
"Would Baobao feel bored at school?" Le Tong asked her son with a caring gaze.
The thought of others mastering such knowledge only in college, yet Baobao already learned at three or four, showed that finding peers of similar interests and abilities in kindergarten was challenging.
"Not at all, mommy! Baobao has lots of interesting classmates." Baobao emphasized while tilting his head.
"But the principal suggested Baobao go to elementary school, but Baobao won’t go; there are too many assignments and they’re not fun at all!"
This sounded just like something a six-year-old boy would say.
But the point Le Tong caught was not about the amount of homework, but the fact that the principal suggested Baobao skip a grade?
Why hadn’t she heard Ji Rui mention this? Or perhaps the busy and confused Ji Rui had already forgotten?
"The principal asked Baobao to skip a grade?" Le Tong held Baobao tightly.
"Yes... But Baobao didn’t want to go, so daddy let Baobao be."
Le Tong thought that she ought to discuss this with Ji Rui soon.
"Why don’t you want to go, hmm?"
Le Tong roughly anticipated Baobao’s response, but she wanted to hear it from him directly.
"Baobao’s good friends will stay in the senior class, and Baobao doesn’t want to leave them." Baobao seemed quite attached to his school friends.
Since Le Tong hadn’t discussed it with Ji Rui yet, she didn’t want to overly influence Baobao’s thoughts and actions before they made a decision.
"Ah..." Suddenly Baobao shouted, startling Le Tong.
"What’s wrong, Baobao? Are you feeling ill?" As she spoke, she held Baobao’s small face and examined him carefully.
"No, it’s just that Grandpa had the chef uncle bake a lot fresh, and Baobao brought back several boxes!"
No wonder the bag was bulging; the little foodie had packed several boxes of cookies.
"Baobao’s been a bit heated recently; you can’t eat too much, okay?" Being a big foodie herself, Le Tong couldn’t bear to confiscate Baobao’s goodies.
Baobao turned around and shoved the boxes of cookies he had just taken out into Le Tong’s arms, "Mommy, these cookies were brought back by Baobao because Grandpa said mommy likes them, so he asked the chef uncle to make lots and lots. He also said if mommy finishes them, she can call Grandpa Li to have more sent over."
