Chapter 411: Admitting Is Not Difficult (Part 2)

"If you’re not an old man, what are you? Some young boy? Look at your face. Although there are no wrinkles, it’s always as stiff as a steel plate. How could you be like ’Baobao’?"Le Tong never intended to take revenge on President Ji for his previous cruelty and harshness. Yet inadvertently, she brought him immense suffering.

Ji Rui vigorously rubbed his steel-plate-like face as Le Tong described, and after wiping it, he tossed the towel into the basin with a bit of a huff.

"Le Tong, has anyone ever told you that you’re quite annoying?"

Le Tong slightly curled her lips, picked up the basin, and shrugged nonchalantly, "Really? I’m not like money that everyone can like. But you definitely don’t find me annoying because you’ve said more than once that you like me!"

Slowly getting used to this new relationship with Ji Rui, Le Tong spoke more freely, her mischievous side uncontrollably swelling when she saw President Ji’s indignant and aggrieved expression.

Le Tong, revealing her true nature, almost made Uncle Ji furious.

"Le Tong!" Ji Rui’s voice suddenly increased by several decibels.

Le Tong still wore a playful smile on her face, "Hmm, you’ve got a good voice! Seems like you’re recovering well!"

With that, she seemed not to notice the few wisps of white smoke coming from President Ji’s head and leisurely turned with the basin toward the bathroom.

Ji Rui was so annoyed his teeth were itching. What demon possessed him to find Le Tong’s little tantrums adorable? She’s nothing but a demon!

Come to think of it, Baobao’s angelic and devilish skills probably were entirely inherited from her mommy!

"Weren’t you hungry? Why haven’t you eaten?"

Le Tong came out of the bathroom and saw Ji Rui leaning against the headboard, focused on something on the laptop on a small table. The food on the tray on the nightstand was untouched.

"Headache!" President Ji didn’t even look up. Of course, he couldn’t just sit back after being bullied by Le Tong like that; he needed a plan to get back at her.

"Uh..."

Le Tong, suspecting nothing, quickly came over, and before Ji Rui could respond, her cold hands were already on his forehead.

"Could it be you’re running a fever?" Le Tong furrowed her brows, carefully using her hand to gauge his forehead’s temperature.

"Who knows!" Ji Rui replied coolly.

Le Tong frowned, her hand still on his forehead, "Besides the headache, is there any other discomfort?"

Though she’s mischievous at times, her concern for him was genuine.

Ji Rui slightly lifted his eyelids to glance at her. Seeing her worried and anxious face, his heart softened a bit, but recalling how frustrated he was earlier, he steeled himself and coldly said, "My stomach hurts too!"

Le Tong’s brows furrowed tighter, withdrawing her hand, she stood up and looked at him with concern.

"Fortunately, there’s no fever, but are you sure it’s a stomachache and not your wound hurting?"

Before Ji Rui could answer, Le Tong had already turned around, "I’ll get the doctor to come over. If things don’t improve, we’ll go back to the hospital!"

Le Tong, greatly regretting yielding to Ji Rui yesterday, knew his wounds hadn’t healed yet and felt she should never have let him mess around.

In her urgency, Le Tong made to call someone, but a hand grabbed hers, "Le Tong, it’s not my wound, really just a stomachache!"

Ji Rui decided he couldn’t keep playing anymore.

Firstly, Le Tong’s worried and anxious look pained his heart.

Secondly, he had worked so hard to convince her to let him leave the hospital, and if he kept pretending, she would surely send him back there.

Le Tong, held by Ji Rui, turned around to examine his face closely.

"Is it really just a stomachache?"

Ji Rui nodded and, with a "click," closed the laptop and pointed to his stomach. "I’ve been hungry for so long, of course it hurts!"

Le Tong’s face twitched slightly as she ground her teeth, glaring at Ji Rui, "Ji Rui, are you saying it’s not any other pain but hunger pain?"

"Yes!" Ji Rui nodded affirmatively.

Le Tong took a deep breath, picked up the tray, and heavily set it on the table beside the bed, then stared into Ji Rui’s eyes and firmly said.

"Ji Rui, this is not funny at all!"

Ji Rui realized he might have gone too far, raising his hand to touch her face gently, "Alright, I didn’t expect you to think that way..."

Le Tong turned her face away to avoid his hand and stepped back to sit heavily on the sofa a few paces from the bed.

"Eat up, or it will be troublesome if you’re hungry!"

Le Tong said sulkily, her gaze never leaving Ji Rui.

It couldn’t be denied that she was somewhat irritated now; what was he thinking joking around with his health?

Ji Rui took a spoonful of porridge and put it into his mouth. The porridge was cooked so soft that the rice grains had basically dissolved, much better than the water-and-rice-separated porridge Aunt Guan had made yesterday.

The meat and mushrooms were chopped very finely, probably to avoid difficulty in digestion.

The time and effort she put into it must have been much more than Aunt Guan’s effort.

The porridge was fragrant and pleasing to his palate. Ji Rui finished more than half a bowl in one go, and the stomach that had been twisted in pain was now completely comfortable. Glancing at Le Tong on the sofa, meeting her complicated gaze, Ji Rui’s heart involuntarily trembled.

Finally, he began to reflect on himself. Had he really gone too far just now?

"Le Tong..." Ji Rui, holding the spoon, looked up at Le Tong.

Le Tong didn’t respond, just raised her eyebrows to indicate she heard, signaling him to continue.

"I’m sorry!" Ji Rui looked at her keenly and straightforwardly apologized for his misbehavior.

Le Tong glanced at him deeply, her expression still calm, without much change.

"Ji Rui, don’t joke about such things with me in the future. I can’t handle these jokes!"

Le Tong’s tone was calm, her face serene, but Ji Rui’s heart tightened.

He’s such an idiot!

Knowing that after what happened to her mother and ’Baobao,’ she’s quite fragile in this area, even if she pretends to be strong, she’s surely afraid that someone important to her would fall ill. So using his health as a joke was indeed a significant blow to her.

"Le Tong, I’m sorry, I won’t do it again. I’m fine, I was just being petulant. Come and give me a good scolding, I won’t retaliate!"

After coming to his senses, Ji Rui wished he could scold himself.

Le Tong looked at him and said sullenly, "I can’t bear to scold you!"

Admitting she was worried about him wasn’t hard at all.

Ji Rui didn’t expect Le Tong to be so honest, causing a gleam of surprise to flicker in his eyes, while waves of emotion rose in his heart.

"Le Tong, come here."

He set down the spoon and beckoned her over.

Le Tong was still a bit grumpy, "What?"

Though she asked this, she got up obediently and walked over.

As soon as she reached the bed, Ji Rui’s large hand pulled her in, and then, without warning, his head was buried in her chest.
