Chapter 405: Fool Matches Fool, Perfect! (Second Update)

Although the man was in a coma, his dry lips felt an occasional chill, instinctively, he slightly opened his mouth and stuck out his tongue to lick.Le Tong knew he was probably thirsty, but didn’t dare to move him casually, so she patiently used a cotton swab to moisten his lips little by little, repeatedly.

This boring and tedious action was repeated by Le Tong for almost half an hour, then, she noticed that the man’s pale face started to show a peculiar redness.

Looking again at the man’s forehead, she noticed at some point a layer of fine sweat had appeared.

Le Tong felt something was wrong, reaching out to touch the man’s face and forehead, indeed it was burning hot.

She hurriedly pressed the bell, and the doctor and nurse quickly arrived, giving Ji Rui a shot to reduce the fever. The feverish man only frowned, not making a sound the entire time.

Le Tong didn’t dare to be negligent, continuously wiping the man’s sweat with a dry towel, but as for his lower body, she didn’t have the courage to deal with it, so she let the bodyguard come in to help him change his pants.

They toiled back and forth in this manner until midnight when Ji Rui’s fever finally subsided completely. The exhausted Le Tong originally just wanted to rest her head on the bed for a while but fell asleep instead.

When Ji Rui awoke, the sky was just beginning to lighten.

He hadn’t opened his eyes yet, but habitually supported himself on the bed to try and sit up, only to find a slight strain in his waist, causing him to let out a silent cry of pain and fall back onto the bed.

It was then he remembered being stabbed last night at the bookstore when someone had lunged at him from the front.

So, he was in the hospital now?

Ji Rui opened his eyes slightly. Unable to sit up, he could only turn his head slightly to observe the scene above him. From the equipment and IV bags hanging by the bed, he could confirm that he was indeed in a hospital.

That made sense, he was stabbed, how could Xiao Li not send him to the hospital?

But, why was she in the hospital with him?

Ji Rui’s gaze fell on the face of the woman sleeping sweetly with her head resting on her arm, and he couldn’t tear it away.

He remembered very clearly that when he passed out, he had instructed Xiao Li not to tell Le Tong. It seemed that guy didn’t take his words seriously at all.

Looking at her sleeping posture, she seemed to be in a deep sleep, and in her hand, she still tightly held onto a towel.

Ji Rui tried to recall what happened last night, but the memories after he fell unconscious seemed hazy, with something cool and damp crossing his lips over and over, tirelessly. Updates are released by N0veI.Fiɾe.net

After that, he seemed to have a fever, his body felt unbearably hot, but he didn’t have the usual sticky feeling after a fever now. On the contrary, he felt very fresh, could it be that she had been wiping his sweat and body all night?

Thinking of this, Ji Rui’s gaze became even more tender. Uncontrollably, he reached out and gently brushed aside the strands of hair stuck to her face.

"Hmm..." Perhaps his movement was a bit rough, Le Tong let out a muffled hum, buried her face in her arm for a moment, then lifted her head, and opened her eyes in a daze.

Meeting Ji Rui’s deep eyes, Le Tong’s face broke into a gentle smile. "Awake?"

Saying this, she sat up and stretched slightly, her eyes that were a moment ago laden with sleep now instantly cleared.

"Mm..." Ji Rui could only blink and smile in response.

For him now, even the slightest movement might tug at his wound, and the movement just now had almost made him cry out in pain.

"Does it hurt a lot?" The flash of pain in his eyes didn’t escape Le Tong’s sharp gaze.

"It’s nothing..." Ji Rui hadn’t caught his breath yet, but he had to act light-hearted in front of Le Tong.

For one, he didn’t want her to worry, and for another, as a man, he didn’t want to appear weak in front of the woman he loved.

Le Tong looked at him deeply, said nothing, picked up the towel, and walked into the bathroom.

After Le Tong went in, the pain from Ji Rui’s wound finally started to subside, listening to the sound of running water from the bathroom, Ji Rui wondered if she was angry, yet soon saw her come out holding a washbasin. "Wash your face. I’ll ask the doctor if you can eat something in a while."

She placed the basin on the chair, speaking while wringing out the towel.

"You can’t take a shower these couple of days, let Xiao Li help wipe you down later."

Saying this, the warm, damp towel was already placed on Ji Rui’s face.

"You help wipe me down, no need to trouble Xiao Li." Ji Rui looked straight at her, as if having her take care of him wasn’t a bother.

Le Tong thought he didn’t remember last night’s events. Although she felt a bit embarrassed, she remained adamant.

"Men and women shouldn’t touch; let Xiao Li do it for you." She tried hard to maintain a serious face.

Nevertheless, the man on the bed didn’t care about her deliberate façade at all, smiling softly.

"Is that so? Then who was it that wiped me down last night?" His voice, hoarse and deep from having a fever all night, unexpectedly sounded very seductive. His murmured words were like a delicate feather tickling in Le Tong’s heart, making her heart itch terribly.

"Definitely not me!" Le Tong insisted, but the blush on her face blatantly betrayed her.

Ji Rui didn’t expose her lie, instead, feeling pleased, he followed her movements willingly, raising his chin slightly to let her wipe his neck.

Ji Rui tilted his head a bit, his gaze never leaving her face.

Le Tong seemed aware of his intense gaze, yet said nothing, only giving him a slight glare, then gently supporting his head with one hand, while the other guided the towel along his hairline to clean the back of his neck.

Ji Rui acted like an obedient child, allowing her to take care of him as she pleased.

Yet, someone usually slow when it came to emotions, Ji Rui unexpectedly sensed her change. From the way she seemed to scold him with her eyes tinged with annoyance and concern, added to the tenderness of her movements even while reprimanding him, he perceived her transformation keenly.

"Le Tong, have you made up your mind?"

After asking, Ji Rui disregarded the pain from his wound, lifting his hand to cover Le Tong’s hand that was on his neck.

Le Tong didn’t answer him, instead, she lowered her eyes, and Ji Rui noticed her long, lowered eyelashes fluttering gently, causing his heart to tremble along with them.

Just when he thought Le Tong would come up with another excuse to brush him off, her dark and long lashes lifted, her bright and shiny eyes filled with a tenderness that made him wish he could drown in them.

"Mm!" Le Tong nodded decisively, but before Ji Rui could say anything, she mocked herself with a laugh, "Am I really stupid?"

Baobao often called his daddy an idiot, so it turns out, as a mommy, she was just an idiot too!

The man curled his lips, blinked, and lifted himself up abruptly, his slightly dry lips brushing lightly against hers like a dragonfly skimming the water, "Stupid, maybe a bit, but an idiot pairs well with an idiot, just right!"
