Chapter 402: How Could He Bear to Bully Her? (Part 1)
"Little guy, Daddy warns you, stop introducing all sorts of men to your mommy!"Baobao turned his head to glance at him, pouting as he spoke.
"Hmph, isn’t it just because Daddy is too dumb?"
The implication was that if you weren’t so dumb, would I have to go to such lengths to introduce this one and that one to stimulate you?
Ji Rui’s eyes were bright as he ruffled his son’s hair forcefully, "I was clueless back then, but now I will cherish her." Ji Rui understood the well-intentioned efforts of his beloved son.
However, even though he knew it was all an act, he couldn’t tolerate other men eyeing Le Tong with inappropriate or even greedy looks. In the past, when he wasn’t aware of his own feelings, he couldn’t take it, and now, even more so.
"Alright..." Baobao reluctantly agreed.
After all, in Baobao’s eyes, Daddy and Mommy reconciling as if nothing happened (he always believed his parents had him out of love) was his greatest wish.
But from Baobao’s perspective, Daddy was powerful, while Mommy was always on the weaker side, so if Daddy and Mommy had conflicts, he would mostly side with Mommy.
Seeing his beloved son relent, Ji Rui picked up the cup, wiped the water dry, and embraced Baobao.
"However, if Daddy bullies Mommy, Baobao will organize a matchmaking event for her." Clinging to his neck, Baobao suddenly said solemnly, making Ji Rui feel like their roles had reversed.
It seemed as if this little brat was the real father, and he was the mischievous son who couldn’t be trusted.
"Rest assured, Daddy loves her too much to bully her," Ji Rui firmly assured his beloved son, almost raising his hand to swear.
He had done too many foolish things to Le Tong in the past, and now he was grateful for the chance to make amends, so how could he bear to bully her?
Baobao huffed again, reluctantly believing Ji Rui’s promise.
Not long after Ji Rui entered the room, the takeout arrived, and the father and son came out of the kitchen to find Le Tong had already set the table full with the dishes and snacks sent by Manager Chen.
During the meal, Ji Rui returned to his usual silent demeanor while eating. However, contrary to the past, the usually pampered President Ji would occasionally serve food to Baobao and Le Tong. Baobao enjoyed it without any guilt, and Le Tong, after saying thank you a couple of times, noticed he had no intention of stopping, so she no longer bothered to be polite and let him show goodwill.
After dinner, Baobao clung to Ji Rui, and the father and son raced around the small space of the living room.
Initially, Ji Rui thought he could stay again tonight under the pretext of tutoring as usual. Little did he expect that when the clock struck nine, Le Tong urged him to go home early, citing his need for rest after two days of exertion.
After Le Tong’s repeated insistence, Ji Rui reluctantly left.
Tonight, Baobao was especially clingy. As soon as Ji Rui left, the little guy climbed onto the sofa like a monkey and stuck to Le Tong.
Holding Le Tong’s face with his little hands, he looked left and right but didn’t say anything.
Le Tong found it odd and tapped his nose, "Baobao, what’s wrong with you, don’t recognize Mommy anymore?"
Baobao carefully looked at Le Tong for a while before saying, "Baobao wants to see if Daddy stamped a seal on Mommy’s face!"
Le Tong almost fainted, this little guy’s words were getting more and more cheesy and blunt.
"Ji Yu, you’re your father’s son, so let’s see if your face has been stamped by him." With that, she pulled his face, looking this way and that.
Baobao raised his little face, allowing her to do as she pleased, "Mommy, Baobao’s face is the stamp, isn’t it?"
Baobao’s words weren’t wrong; his face, so similar to Ji Rui’s, could be a business card wherever he went, without the hassle of stamping.
Le Tong just thought that behind her back, Ji Rui must have said something to make the little guy speak such inexplicable words. She expected Baobao to say a bunch of good things about Ji Rui next, but he didn’t say anything and, after playing with her for a while, nestled quietly in her arms to watch TV. When it was time, he asked Le Tong to accompany him to the bedroom and tell him a bedtime story.
A few minutes into the story, Baobao on the bed had already closed his eyes and was sleeping soundly.
Le Tong tucked him in, walked out to the living room, and picked up a book to read for a while.
The book lay open in her hands for several minutes, but not a word registered. Le Tong sighed lightly, closed the book, and pinched the bridge of her nose.
Perhaps she really should think seriously about her relationship with Ji Rui.
What she hadn’t anticipated was that before she could even center herself to analyze her feelings, something happened to Ji Rui.
She closed the book, went to the kitchen to pour a cup of water, and noticed her phone on the sofa flashing incessantly. Picking it up, she saw it wasn’t who she expected—Ji Rui—but rather his driver, Xiao Li.
"Brother Li?"
Le Tong was puzzled. Ji Rui had left nearly an hour ago; why was the driver calling?
"Miss Le, hurry to the hospital; Mr. Ji has been injured."
Xiao Li’s anxious voice came through, and his words made Le Tong’s hand tremble, almost dropping the phone.
"Brother Li, what did you say? Mr. Ji injured? What happened?"
Le Tong thought she must have heard wrong. That man was always careful in his actions, always surrounded by bodyguards for protection. How could he get injured?
"We aren’t sure about the specifics either. Mr. Ji went to buy a book at the bookstore and was stabbed!"
Upon hearing this, Le Tong stood up, "Is Mr. Ji seriously injured? Which hospital are you in? I’m heading there now."
"Miss Le, Mr. Ji is in the emergency room at Central Hospital. We’re not clear about the specifics yet. Arrange for Ah Huang to either stay at home with Baobao or bring you over, and be careful on the way."
Le Tong changed clothes, gave brief instructions to the bodyguard, and hurriedly left the house.
All the way, her palms were sweaty without pause, and after wiping them, they soon became clammy again.
That man, who had been running around for two days, was supposed to go home early and rest. Why would he go to the bookstore to buy books?
Le Tong was incredibly anxious and called Xiao Li twice on the way, but each time came the response that the other party was on another call.
Fortunately, at around 10 p.m., the traffic wasn’t too congested, and half an hour later, Le Tong arrived at Central Hospital.
In the corridor in front of the emergency room, Xiao Li was on the phone with someone. Upon seeing Le Tong, he quickly ended the call and approached her.
"Brother Li, how is Mr. Ji now?"
After asking, Le Tong’s eyes fell on the bloodstains all over Xiao Li, causing her heart to pound wildly.
So much blood, it must be very serious, right?
Xiao Li was equally tense, "Not sure. After examining the president, the doctor immediately took him into the operating room, and he hasn’t come out yet."
Le Tong frowned, "So late, why did he go to a bookstore instead of going home?"
