Chapter 391: Mr. Ji’s Little Tricks (Second Update)

Chapter 391: Mr. Ji’s Little Tricks (Second Update)

After Baobao woke up, the adults took turns accompanying him to collect a pile of shells and build a long row of castles, until the crimson sun sank into the sea. Only then did Le Tong coax Baobao into the car, which slowly drove away from the seaside. The car traveled along the coastal highway for about ten minutes before Ji Rui instructed Xiao Li to turn onto a small road at a junction. Not long after, they saw a restaurant built along the mountainside.

The restaurant had a peaceful and expansive environment. Although the outdoor dining area was not crowded with guests, the tables were spaced widely apart, with flowers and plants in between them. Occasional insect sounds could be heard, making the surrounding voices seem quieter.

What surprised Le Tong even more was that the food served at this rarely heard restaurant was light yet retained the original flavor of the ingredients, tasting delicious and flavorful. Not only did Baobao eat joyfully, but the adults also enjoyed their meal thoroughly.

Baobao particularly ate a lot of a few dishes, so Le Tong carefully studied the ingredients and cooking methods. Ji Rui knew she intended to learn how to make them at home for Baobao, so he called over the manager to have the chef explain the ingredients and method to Le Tong in detail.

Le Tong listened attentively and even recorded the chef’s explanation on her phone. Listening on the side, Ji Rui couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous of his dear son and pointed to the Longjing shrimp dish.

"This shrimp dish tastes really good."

However, Le Tong completely ignored his hint. After understanding the cooking methods of Baobao’s favorite dishes, she led Baobao to an open fruit orchard beside the restaurant to pick fruits.

Ji Rui felt quite defeated internally, but outwardly, he paid the bill nonchalantly and left the restaurant with Yang Sheng, leisurely heading to the orchard to find the mother and son.

The orchard was illuminated with spotlights, making the fruit tree clusters bright as day. Le Tong and Baobao each carried a basket. Le Tong’s basket was half-filled with oranges; Baobao’s was slightly filled with starfruit. Seeing Ji Rui come in, Baobao unceremoniously pushed the basket onto Ji Rui and Yang Sheng, while he held Le Tong’s hand, saying he wanted to go to the vegetable garden nearby to pick fresh vegetables.

The little guy had been playing all day but seemed quite energetic. Initially worried he might get tired, Le Tong and Ji Rui thought he hadn’t had such a fun time in a long while, plus the air here was good. So they let him wander from the orchard to the vegetable garden until he picked several big baskets full of fresh fruits and vegetables to load into the car. Only then did Baobao agree to stop.

The little darling, who had been playing all day, finally got into the car. The exhausted little fellow climbed onto Le Tong’s lap without saying a word, arms around her back, nestling in her embrace and acting coy.

"Baobao, did you have fun today?" Le Tong pointed to Baobao’s slightly cool nose.

"Fun..." answered Baobao lazily, finding a comfortable position in Le Tong’s embrace and gradually closing his eyes.

Ji Rui seemed to have anticipated that the little guy would fall asleep as soon as he got in the car. He spread out a blanket and covered Le Tong and Baobao together.

"You should sleep for a while too."

At this time, Le Tong didn’t feel tired but helped Baobao take off his shoes and wrapped his body, hands, and legs in the blanket before raising her head to ask Ji Rui.

"Did you plan today’s itinerary last night?"

Le Tong thought that after finishing the Tai Cheng proposal last night, Ji Rui would go straight to bed like her.

"Yes."

Even though he could boast about it, Ji Rui just responded indifferently.

Le Tong worried about disturbing Baobao, so she remained silent afterward. As the car drove onto the highway, she kept her eyes open, staying awake until she gradually felt sleepy and eventually closed her eyes and fell asleep.

When Le Tong woke up, she found the car had already stopped at her home’s stairway.

"Mr. Ji, why didn’t you wake me when we arrived?" Le Tong asked softly while looking at the man beside her, who was looking at documents on a computer.

The man closed his computer, turned to look at her, "Awake? We’ve just been back for a few minutes."

"Hmm, where is Senior Brother?" Le Tong glanced at the empty front passenger seat and checked the time, realizing it was almost eleven o’clock. Calculating the time, they must have been back for at least half an hour.

"Just left." said Ji Rui as he got out of the car, walked to Le Tong’s side, opened the door, and picked up Baobao.

Le Tong didn’t say anything and followed Ji Rui back home.

"I’ll go give Baobao a bath." Once inside, Ji Rui headed straight for the bathroom with Baobao in his arms.

When Le Tong brought in Baobao’s change of clothes, he was sleeping soundly at the bathtub’s edge. Meanwhile, his dad was earnestly washing the little one.

"Do you need help?" Normally, Baobao was quite independent, unless occasionally playful and letting parents bathe him, he usually cleans himself.

"Hmm, almost done, please bring the towel over."

The two worked together to dry Baobao, dressed him in a robe, and tucked him into bed—this little one really didn’t open his eyes even once.

Le Tong was drenched, and looking at Ji Rui, she noticed he was even worse, his clothes dripping water. She frowned slightly, looked at the wall clock, then before Ji Rui could speak, she proactively said, "Mr. Ji, it’s late. Please stay here tonight."

Ji Rui was originally going to speak, but hearing her take the initiative, he was overjoyed, though he kept a calm face, showing no signs of excitement.

"Alright, I’ll go take a shower first."

After Ji Rui finished showering, the phone in the guest room rang—it was Xiao Li calling.

"President, Mr. Yuan just called and said the apartment was ready to your specifications. You can move in tomorrow. Should I arrange for someone to move your things there immediately?"

Ji Rui sat on the edge of the bed, patting the bed, which wasn’t as comfortable as his own big bed at home, "No hurry, let’s put this aside for now."

Xiao Li seemed surprised by his words, "No rush?"

"Right, let’s not let Le Tong and Baobao know about it for now."

After instructing, Ji Rui directly hung up the phone.

If Le Tong knew he had an apartment in the building down the street that he could move into at any time, he definitely wouldn’t receive such hospitality tonight, right?

...

The next day, back at Ji Family, aside from dealing with his routine work, Yang Sheng started handing over some tasks to Le Tong.

Though Le Tong was always worried about whether she was capable enough for this important role, when the time actually came, she didn’t say a word. She quietly kept track of her tasks and took note of the various precautions one by one.

At the end of the day, Ji Rui carried a pile of tutorial and study materials back home with Le Tong.

Le Tong was in the kitchen cooking while Ji Rui busily prepared the content for the lesson he would give to Le Tong later.

When the dishes were served, Ji Rui saw the beautifully presented Longjing shrimp on the table, froze for a moment, and then looked at Le Tong in surprise.

"Did you later go back to ask the chef?"

Le Tong smiled and shook her head, "I already knew how to make this dish."
