Chapter 386 Very Warm and Loving (One More Update)
When Le Tong woke up, she was greeted by an expanse of endless blue.Le Tong blinked, her mind gradually clearing, only then realizing her neck was a bit sore. Then she found herself with a blanket over her, resting her head on a man’s shoulder, and most of her body weight leaning against him.
"Um, Mr. Ji, I’m sorry..." Le Tong murmured apologetically, quickly propping herself up and sitting straight.
Le Tong assumed that she had unconsciously leaned on the man while asleep, not knowing that the man was actually a complicit partner in this.
Ji Rui glanced at her oddly but said nothing, only adjusted the blanket, covering the still sound asleep Baobao.
When Le Tong finally fully awoke and wanted to look at her son, she turned her head and met the deep, enigmatic gaze of the man. "Le Tong, can we not be so polite to each other?"
If Le Tong didn’t hear wrongly, the man’s tone carried a hint of irritation.
Le Tong raised her eyelids, looking at him with confusion on her face, "I didn’t..."
When had she ever been so polite with him?
"You did!" Ji Rui stared at her, stating with certainty.
Le Tong briefly recollected after being awake, vaguely understanding that he referred to her saying "I’m sorry" as politeness.
But her unconscious posture of using the man as a pillow did indeed cause him inconvenience, saying sorry shouldn’t be considered too polite, right?
Ji Rui watched as the confusion in her eyes gradually faded away, and in an instant, the somewhat dazed Le Tong disappeared.
"Mr. Ji, between us, even if we are polite, it’s normal."
Le Tong spoke with a mix of humility and composure, leaving Ji Rui unable to refute, yet secretly grinding his teeth.
Indeed, once this woman became smart, that protective wall naturally rose.
Ji Rui pinched his brow, deeply missing the quiet Le Tong who had just been sleeping peacefully on his shoulder.
Earlier, when he expressed himself at Mrs. Le’s grave, she had hardly reacted. At the time, he thought she agreed or was at least somewhat moved.
But now it seems that wasn’t the case at all.
She had remained silent just now, probably out of consideration for Yang Sheng who was present?
Clearly, getting her to accept him still has a long road ahead!
The car fell silent until Le Tong was captivated by the beautiful scenery outside the window. "How come I didn’t know R City has such a peaceful beach?"
R City is a coastal city with numerous beaches of varying sizes.
But most beaches were developed into tourist areas, and during holidays, those beaches are always crowded. This clean and serene beach in front of her was something Le Tong had never heard of, naturally she had never been here either.
"Hmm, this place hasn’t been developed, so not many people know about it."
Ji Rui lightly patted Baobao’s face, attempting to wake the little guy still sleeping heavily like a log.
Awoken, Baobao was initially a bit dazed. As he wiped his eyes with the back of his hand and gazed out the window, he saw the endless blue sky and ocean that seemed to stretch infinitely, the shimmering fine sand, and the swaying shadows of coconut trees in the breeze. Without a word, the little guy sprang out of the car, directly from Ji Rui’s lap.
Xiao Li didn’t drive the sedan Ji Rui usually sat in today, but switched to a Hummer.
"Baobao, be careful..." Le Tong’s heart skipped, fearing Baobao might hurt himself by jumping out so high.
Hurriedly getting out of the car and rounding the door to go over, Baobao stood steadily beside the car, hands on his hips, closing his eyes and enjoying the sunny breeze.
"Mummy, it feels so nice!" The little guy seemed to recognize people just by their aura, not even opening his eyes before correctly leaning into Le Tong’s embrace.
Le Tong hugged him, lowered her head and kissed his forehead, quickly kicking away any unpleasantness with Ji Rui.
Ji Rui got out from the other side of the car, disregarding the mother and son, along with Yang Sheng and Xiao Li, who had awaken at some unknown time, the three men divided and worked together to lay plastic sheets on the nearby beach, placing a pile of food, drinks, and toys together. Besides setting up parasols on both sides, they also erected a small tent for Baobao to rest in case he gets tired.
The three men, in a blink of an eye, had everything set up, yet the mother and child at the other side of the car remained still.
Ji Rui rounded the car to check, finding the mother and son sitting naturally on the sand, each holding a branch, drawing a heap of things that resembled abstract art in front of them.
"Daddy, daddy, come look..."
Hearing the footsteps, Baobao raised his little face, seeing it was him, he waved frantically for him to come over.
Ji Rui took three strides in two steps, in a blink of an eye arriving before them, and without hesitation, mimicked them and casually sat on the beach.
This spot was quite far from the sea, the sand was fine and dry, sitting down without any discomfort.
"Baobao, what did you draw?"
Ji Rui curiously stared at the drawings on the sand. To be honest, whether it was his poor appreciation level, or Baobao’s drawing skills weren’t great, Ji Rui couldn’t understand the bizarre shapes formed by numerous lines and circles drawn by Baobao.
Baobao threw him a little glare full of "You’re such a fool," and seriously pointed with a twig at the figure composed of five or six lines topped with just a few strands of hair.
"Daddy, this is you!"
Ji Rui’s jaw almost dropped in shock, looking utterly surprised, "Me?", wanting to cry but having no tears, was this ugly figure really him?
"Yes, it’s you!" Baobao affirmed with a nod.
Ji Rui carefully deciphered, gradually matching the sand drawings to identities.
"Baobao, this little figure is you, right? And the one in a dress is mummy?" Ji Rui sneaked a glance at Le Tong, she seemed quite content, probably because this was a joint effort in drawing.
Baobao continued nodding, "Yes, Daddy got them all right!"
Ji Rui seriously looked again, the drawing that seemed bizarre at first glance now revealed a bit of semblance upon closer inspection.
"Are we dancing?"
"Yes, Daddy, mummy and Baobao are dancing around the bonfire doing a hula dance!"
Listening to Baobao’s answer, Ji Rui said nothing, merely shifting his gaze from the sand drawing to Le Tong.
"What do you think of Baobao’s drawing?"
Ji Rui asked quite subtly, he wasn’t inquiring about the drawing’s quality, but rather Le Tong’s opinion on the warm, loving composition of a family of three dancing around the bonfire.
Whether Le Tong truly understood or not, her response was casual, "It’s okay."
"I think Baobao’s drawing is great!" Drawing, like playing an instrument, is considered good as long as it expresses inner ideas or thoughts.
"Such a scene of a family of three is very warm and loving." Ji Rui added.
Le Tong glanced at him, murmured softly, "Who said we’re a family of three with you?"
