Chapter 359: A Friend’s Wife is Not to Be Bullied (Part One)

"I want to do it sooner too, after all, I’m not getting any younger. But she’s not in a good mood right now, still needs some coaxing, so maybe later! Anyway, just get your red envelopes ready!"Everyone was collectively stunned; no one expected the usually cold and rigid President Ji to openly acknowledge as much in front of everyone.

He spoke of not being young anymore, and of coaxing her.

Just how much he must dotingly love her, for a man in his prime, with both hardware and software at their peak, to bravely say such words in front of everyone?!

Moreover, his words indirectly confirmed the rumor that spread quickly just now, could it actually be true?

"Mr. Ji really cares for Miss Le..."

These people had all read the report on CoCo, but none of them brought her up this time.

Because, in their eyes, this was a real example of a love triangle.

The childhood betrothal couldn’t compete against the secretary who was his true love, leading to anger and shame; two women battling over a man, resulting in today’s thrilling events, the outcome almost overturned because of it.

"Mr. Ji’s courage to sacrifice for beauty is truly admirable!" Indeed, with CoCo’s background, no one present except Ji Rui dared to provoke her. Moreover, Ji Rui brought Le Tong along, wasn’t this directly embarrassing CoCo?

Ji Rui was in a good mood and didn’t mind the half-probing comments from the crowd, even managing to greet and socialise with a rare smile on his face.

Le Tong quickly returned with a tray that held a glass of wine and a beautifully presented piece of cake.

"Mr. Ji, your stomach isn’t well; have a piece of cake to settle it first."

After the voting results came out, Le Tong carefully pondered briefly, and combined with Ji Rui’s tired demeanor, she could guess that he did a lot of work for this result.

If she guessed correctly, he might not have even eaten lunch, so while grabbing the wine, she also picked up a piece of cake.

Ji Rui didn’t mind her fussiness or meddling, obediently picked up the cake from the tray and took a bite.

Initially, he ate the cake just so as not to let down Le Tong’s kind intention, because he didn’t like sweets.

However, the cake didn’t seem too sweet, and the taste was actually quite nice.

Le Tong watched him very carefully, "Is it okay? I asked the chef, and he said it’s low-sugar, lots of men like this flavor."

Ji Rui smiled at her gratefully, "Yeah, it’s quite nice."

As he spoke, he quickly polished off half the cake; honestly, he was indeed hungry. His last meal was the previous night’s loving wontons.

"Mr. Ji, you two aren’t seriously flaunting your affection like this, are you?"

Several people nearby began teasing the two of them.

Le Tong was unaware of the rumor that had been flying around the venue and didn’t know that, in the three minutes while she’d been away, Ji Rui had thoroughly claimed her as his own in the eyes of others.

So, hearing the crowd’s teasing, she treated it as nothing more than a joke, "President Chen, you’re hilarious. I’m just Mr. Ji’s secretary; these things are just part of my duties."

Fortunately, she knew nothing about it, allowing her to interact with these people without blushing or feeling uneasy.

Ji Rui didn’t explain, just continued eating his cake peacefully, then stood smilingly beside Le Tong, listening to her naturally and gracefully chat and joke with several members.

Previously, Ji Rui hadn’t paid much attention, but now he realized, Le Tong’s memory was quite extraordinary.

There were at least a hundred people here, yet she could accurately name each one, and also seemed to know their job backgrounds and roles like the back of her hand.

Coupled with her excellent speaking skills and quick thinking; even surrounded by a few men like this, she was still able to engage them in lively conversation, her speech and insights reflected her personality and opinions, never simply following the crowd.

When Ji Rui finished the piece of cake, Le Tong, who had been chatting away about something, naturally handed him the drink and took his empty plate, "Mr. Ji, should I get you another piece? Or perhaps something else instead?"

Although Le Tong had been chatting with others, she kept an eye on Ji Rui, and from the speed he ate the cake, she could tell he hadn’t eaten today.

"Anything’s fine!" Ji Rui casually said, not because he didn’t care, but because he knew Le Tong knew his preferences even better than he did.

As Le Tong turned to get him some food, the look in everyone’s eyes held not just envy but more.

With those envious gazes, Ji Rui felt quite pleased.

"Rui, you actually tricked me?!"

A figure abruptly appeared from nowhere and punched Ji Rui’s shoulder.

Hearing the voice, Ji Rui turned his head, "Why are you only just arriving?"

It turned out to be Zhuo Jiarui.

"When I arrive doesn’t matter, anyway, I already had them cast my vote for you, didn’t I?!"

Saying that, he snatched the wine from Ji Rui’s hand and downed it in one go, then pointed accusingly at Ji Rui while licking his lips.

"Why didn’t you tell me earlier that Tongtong is Baobao’s mommy? I was here thinking foolishly about pursuing her... sigh..."

Thinking back, Zhuo Jiarui felt a bit of dread, fortunately, he stopped himself in time, otherwise, the consequences would have been severe!

How dare he covet Ji Rui’s woman!

Ji Rui cast him a dry glance and said coolly, "Didn’t I already tell you not to target her?"

Ji Rui’s stare was icy, sending shivers down Zhuo Jiarui’s spine.

"You should have just told me straight! You know I’m dense!"

Zhuo Jiarui, quick to adapt, had come to admit his mistakes and seek forgiveness.

One should not covet a friend’s wife, especially when they had been childhood buddies growing up together!

"You certainly are dense!" Ji Rui shot him another chilly look.

Zhuo Jiarui grinned sheepishly, then caught sight of Le Tong returning with a tray of food and hurriedly said to her.

"Tongtong, don’t mind the past, just forget about it!"

Le Tong glanced at him, puzzled, and it took a while before she realized he was probably referring to his earlier impulsive remarks about pursuing her.

"President Zhuo, those were just jokes; I never took them seriously."

After saying that, Le Tong ignored him, turning to hand the tray directly to Ji Rui, "Mr. Ji, why don’t you sit over there to eat?"

"Yes, yes, they were just jokes; Rui, don’t take them seriously either!"

Ji Rui glanced at him but didn’t respond, took the tray, and said to everyone, "Sorry, I’ll be leaving you all for a bit."

With that, he carried the food over to a table on the side, pulled up a chair, and sat down.
