Chapter 1050 - 1048: The Key Is, He’s Handsome
Ji Huan ran his fingers through his hair and laughed, "I was planning to tidy up at the salon tomorrow before coming to see you!"Zhu Qianyu was momentarily blinded by his smile, turned her face slightly to look away, "It’s fine just like this..."
Ji Huan laughed even more happily, "Really, the important thing is, when you’re handsome, the hairstyle doesn’t matter."
Zhu Qianyu was amused by his narcissism and couldn’t help but laugh, it was one of the few genuine smiles she had in the past month.
Ji Huan didn’t mention the incident at the Cantonese restaurant that day, nor did he ask about her "boyfriend" matters. It was as if his absence for a month wasn’t because of what she said, but simply due to his busy work schedule.
Since Ji Huan didn’t mention that day, Zhu Qianyu was even less inclined to bring it up. The two of them chatted about work and gossip as if they were back in the café in the past.
Until the phone alarm rang, Ji Huan got up to fetch a glass of warm water, took out medicine from the bag, and handed a few capsules to Zhu Qianyu as directed on the instructions.
"Take the medicine, have a good sleep, and you’ll be fine tomorrow."
Zhu Qianyu took the medicine from his hand, popped it in her mouth, and washed it down with a few sips of warm water.
As soon as she finished taking the medicine, Ji Huan urged her back to bed to sleep. Just like before, he stood by the bed watching over her as she got into bed and tucked herself in before giving further instructions.
"Tonight, keep an eye on your temperature. If it doesn’t go down or even gets worse, remember to have your classmate accompany you to the hospital. Even if the fever subsides by tomorrow morning, have your classmate help you take a day off and rest for the day, okay?"
Zhu Qianyu nodded, indicating she understood, "You should go home. You’ve just come back from out of town and came straight to see me without going home, sorry!"
It was only at this point that Zhu Qianyu became polite.
Ji Huan reached out to ruffle her hair, "Sleep, why are you being so polite with me? I’m leaving now!"
"Okay, bye-bye!"
"I’ll call you tomorrow, or you can call me. I’m leaving now!" Ji Huan waved at her, picked up the trash he’d gathered earlier, and walked out.
Just a few minutes after he left, Zhu Qianyu’s roommate came running back.
The roommate pulled open Zhu Qianyu’s curtain, reached over to push her, and when she opened her eyes, the roommate asked with a gossip-filled face, "Little Bamboo, is he your boyfriend?"
Having taken the medicine, Zhu Qianyu was already drowsy. Being woken up by her roommate made her a bit impatient and irritable, "He’s not!"
The roommate, however, was rather slow on the uptake and assumed she was just embarrassed when she heard her denial.
"Little Bamboo, you say you’re going for an internship every weekend, but actually, you’re going on dates with that handsome guy, aren’t you?"
Zhu Qianyu became even more irritable, "I said he’s not, so he’s not!"
The roommate chuckled, "You say he’s not, but I could see that handsome guy really likes you. When he came in just now, he was so nervous he turned pale. Maybe he thought you were seriously ill."
Zhu Qianyu really wanted to tell her fly-like buzzing roommate to shut up, but in the end, she didn’t. She just turned her back and pulled her blanket tightly over herself.
The roommate outside the blanket kept babbling on for a while. Whether from not getting a response or from being tired of talking, a few minutes later, Zhu Qianyu finally had peace and quiet.
Originally, she was lying in bed intending to think carefully about her and Ji Huan’s situation, but after her roommate stopped talking, it wasn’t long before she fell into a muddled sleep.
In the middle of the night, she woke up feeling hot and covered in sweat, sticky and uncomfortable. She touched her forehead and it seemed like the fever had gone down.
She got up to take a shower before climbing back into bed to continue sleeping.
She slept until after nine o’clock the next day.
When she picked up her phone to check the time, she found an unread message from Ji Huan.
"Feeling better? Give me a call when you wake up."
Zhu Qianyu wasn’t in a hurry to respond. After getting up, washing herself, and eating the breakfast her roommate bought for her, she took out her phone and dialed.
"Awake? Are you okay?" Ji Huan’s voice, as always, was full of energy. Zhu Qianyu, who still felt a bit lazy, felt a burst of energy upon hearing his voice.
"I’m fine. The fever went down in the middle of the night. Thank you for last night!" Restored to her usual self, Zhu Qianyu was a bit less dependent and a bit more distant.
She knew very clearly that any concession from her would end up hurting three adults plus two lovely children.
"That’s good. In the future, pay more attention to the weather forecast, and if necessary, carry a folding umbrella in your bag."
Ji Huan, a big man, was extremely attentive to these details of life.
"Mm, I will." Zhu Qianyu deliberately made herself seem aloof.
Because she was afraid she might have been confused by her illness last night and given Ji Huan the wrong impression.
But the other party seemed not to notice her aloofness and coldness, "Alright, I’m hanging up. Let’s catch up when we’re free again."
This retreat from Ji Huan caught Zhu Qianyu off guard.
Clearly, she was the one pretending to be aloof, but after hanging up, Zhu Qianyu felt a bit melancholic.
This time, would he again disappear for a month after saying they’d catch up, just like last time?
But even if that were the case, what would it matter?
He and she were originally just friends. It’s normal for friends not to meet for a month.
Just like her sister and Xing Bailun, their relationship is even deeper, but they often don’t see each other for months.
Sigh, if she didn’t see Ji Huan for a few months, would she forget him, or would she, just like the past period, live like a zombie, with nothing left to live for?
Zhu Qianyu thought about it repeatedly and found her current passive situation too frustrating. In the end, she decided to relax a little this weekend by signing up for a tour group to visit a nearby city for two days.
After all, despite having been in R City for so long, she had only been focused on studying, and hadn’t had time to visit many nearby tourist spots.
Once Zhu Qianyu had the idea, she immediately took action and called Tian Fang to request two days off.
Tian Fang agreed readily, "Sure, even though you’re an intern, you’ve been working for a few months. Taking two days of paid leave isn’t too much. Go ahead, don’t worry about things here. I’ll inform the directors, and you can come back next week."
Zhu Qianyu hadn’t expected Tian Fang to agree so easily and was prepared to have her pay docked. To her surprise, not only was she not docked, but she was also given two days of paid leave.
Xinying really treats its employees very well.
About ten minutes later, Zhu Qianyu received a message from Ji Huan, "I bought some local specialties while on a business trip out of town. I forgot to give them to you yesterday. When are you free, or maybe we can meet this weekend so I can bring them to you."
Zhu Qianyu thought for a moment, then replied to him, "Next week, I have some things to do this weekend."
After sending her reply, Zhu Qianyu suddenly had a ridiculous thought: could it be that Ji Huan found out about her plans to take a leave to travel?
