Chapter 1041 - 1039: Ji Huan, I Have a Boyfriend
Zhu Qianyu was initially heading to the back seat, but Ji Huan had already opened the passenger door for her, so she had no choice but to sit in the front seat as he wished."What do you want to eat?"
Ji Huan glanced at Zhu Qianyu, who was lowering her head to fasten her seatbelt. Her outfit today made her look even younger. Someone would absolutely believe she was a middle school student.
Standing next to her, would others suspect him of abducting a minor girl?
Thinking of this, Ji Huan couldn’t help but smile.
After fastening her seatbelt, Zhu Qianyu tossed her head, and the short hair covering half of her face stylishly swung back, revealing her beautiful forehead. "Are we having Sichuan cuisine again?"
Ji Huan’s gaze landed on the two conspicuous pimples on her forehead.
"Forget it, the weather is hot, and I want something lighter. You’re more familiar with the area, so you decide."
Zhu Qianyu had no idea Ji Huan changed his mind due to the pimples on her forehead and simply thought he genuinely wanted something light today.
"Hmm, how about Cantonese cuisine?"
"Alright!"
Ji Huan had no objections and, following her instructions, drove out of the campus, and a few minutes later, the car was parked in front of a Cantonese restaurant near R University.
When ordering, Ji Huan, like last time, entrusted everything to Zhu Qianyu.
Zhu Qianyu ordered dishes of fish, shrimp, and beef, a bowl of old fire soup, and also asked for boiled seasonal vegetables and scallops with melon strips.
Consequently, Zhu Qianyu was unknowingly introduced to some of his preferences.
The restaurant served the dishes quickly. Zhu Qianyu, not wanting to ruin their appetites, planned to speak with Ji Huan after the meal.
Even though Ji Huan was only the referee, following the players running around the court consumed quite a bit of energy, and he was already starving.
Once the food arrived, he began eating without hesitation.
Anyway, he was familiar enough with Zhu Qianyu that there was no need to pretend.
Moreover, although he was eating quickly, he still maintained an elegant posture; it was just like a gentleman eating with a fast-forward button pressed.
Although Zhu Qianyu was also quite hungry, faced with the enticing dishes covering the table, she had little appetite.
The matters at home had been sorted out thanks to Ji Huan’s advice, so her lack of appetite was actually due to the conversation she planned to have with Ji Huan later.
Slowly, she stuffed food into her mouth, but the ordinarily enjoyable food tasted like wax at the moment.
Ji Huan quickly polished off two bowls of rice, only then noticing Zhu Qianyu beside him seemed to have no appetite.
"Xiao Yu, why aren’t you eating? Does the food not appeal to you?"
Ji Huan regretted his decision somewhat; opting for Cantonese cuisine to prevent her from getting a heat rash, yet here she seemed to have lost even the desire to eat?
"Should we go somewhere else!" Ji Huan immediately suggested.
"No, no, I like Cantonese food, but my appetite isn’t great right after exercise."
Ji Huan was somewhat skeptical because it’s true that intense activities can reduce one’s appetite.
"Then I’ll ask the waiter to bring some porridge..."
Not waiting for Zhu Qianyu to refuse, Ji Huan was already on his feet, taking a few steps to the door, and asked the waiter standing in the hallway outside, "Could you bring a pot of seafood porridge for us?"
The seafood porridge was promptly served, and Ji Huan personally filled a bowl for Zhu Qianyu and handed it to her, "Careful, it’s hot."
For some reason, Zhu Qianyu suddenly felt uncomfortable.
Probably because he was being so kind to her, yet she would have to draw a line with him.
Also, because such a good man was someone she couldn’t have, and she would even have to harden her heart to push him away.
...
"Ji Huan, are you this good to everyone?"
Zhu Qianyu remembered she seemed to have asked him this question before.
"How could I be?"
Ji Huan used communal chopsticks to sprinkle some scallions into her bowl of porridge, "Dig in; this porridge looks perfectly cooked, try its taste."
Zhu Qianyu wasn’t sure if he deliberately avoided her question and persistently asked again, "Why do I feel you are good to everyone?"
Ji Huan straightened, put down his chopsticks, and looked at her with bright eyes without blinking.
"Xiao Yu, do you think I’m good to everyone?"
Though it was a rhetorical question, Zhu Qianyu sensed a hint of sadness in it.
She didn’t know how to answer and lowered her head, picking up the bowl and scooping some porridge, blowing on it before slowly putting it into her mouth.
The porridge had a soft and smooth texture, and the seafood tasted fresh and sweet. Honestly, it was close to the standards of six or seven of her mom’s home-cooked meals.
If it were a regular day, Zhu Qianyu could eat half of the pot herself. But now, she just ate one bowl before putting it down.
The reasons were, one, she had matters on her mind, and two, even with her head lowered, she could constantly feel Ji Huan’s piercing gaze that barely left her.
"Full?" Ji Huan asked gently.
Zhu Qianyu nodded, "Hmm, can’t eat anymore..."
Although this was only the third meal Ji Huan shared with her, he clearly knew she wasn’t one to eat little.
"Are you feeling unwell?" Ji Huan leaned in slightly, looking at her with concern.
Zhu Qianyu took a napkin and wiped her mouth, "No, it’s really because my appetite isn’t great after exercising."
Zhu Qianyu kept her eyes down and stuck to the lie she had already spoken.
Ji Huan watched her quietly for a while, trying to discern anything unusual from her behavior.
He was certain her lack of appetite wasn’t due to exercising but because something was on her mind.
Could it be she was still worried about her sister’s issue?
But she seemed to have come to terms with it earlier. She was pretty easy to understand; once she figured something out, she wouldn’t go back and forth, dwelling.
No matter how long Ji Huan watched, he couldn’t find any clue. He didn’t want to force her further and merely said, "Alright, since you don’t have an appetite now, let’s pack up the leftovers, and you can have them as a late-night snack in your dorm later."
Given her condition, Ji Huan also lost his appetite, even though he hadn’t eaten enough yet, and the table still had plenty of food untouched.
"Hmm..." Zhu Qianyu responded softly.
"It’s still early; you don’t have plans tonight, right? A new domestic blockbuster has just been released; I heard it’s tightly paced and has amazing effects. I’ve been wanting to watch it but haven’t had time. I remember you quite enjoy this genre too. How about we go watch it together?"
Ji Huan was quite confident about inviting her to the movie.
After all, they’d known each other for a few months, transitioned from strangers to friends, and then to confidants sharing personal matters. Naturally, it seemed time to take a significant step forward.
But Zhu Qianyu didn’t immediately respond. Instead, she got up, picked up the teapot, and poured tea for both of them.
She sat back down and began sipping her tea, slowly.
Ji Huan knew she was nervous now.
Had she understood his hints? Feeling shy and embarrassed?
Ji Huan was indulging in this thought when she suddenly raised her head, glanced quickly at him, and shifted her gaze away quickly, her lips moved, "Ji Huan, I have a boyfriend."
