Chapter 1008 - 1006: The Mischievous Young Master Is Still Here!

Chapter 1008 - 1006: The Mischievous Young Master Is Still Here!

The cheer squad girls all turned their eyes to Zhu Qianyu in unison.Of course, Zhu Qianyu herself had zero desire to join in this kind of excitement—especially since the host was Ji Huan. But as the cheer squad captain, if she didn’t go, it’d be a little hard to justify.

With no other choice, Zhu Qianyu nodded.

Ji Huan quietly let out a breath of relief and turned his gaze to the captain. "I’m not very familiar with this area. You guys just pick anywhere you like. As long as it tastes good, I don’t care what kind of food it is."

Everyone packed up while discussing, and in the end, they unanimously decided on a Sichuan restaurant on the food street just outside the school.

They checked with Ji Huan, and he said he had no objections. He could handle spicy food, but the meals at home were mostly light. Whenever he went out to eat with people his own age, he ended up eating spicy more often than not.

His car was still parked in the lot by the teaching building, while the food street was just outside the west gate, not far from the court.

"You guys walk over. I’ll drive there."

And while he was at it, he’d call his mom for "permission."

"Oh? Making progress at last?" Le Tong’s amused voice came through. You could hear that beyond the teasing, she was genuinely happy for her son.

"It’s not like that, it’s just a big group of students having a meal together." The young master was frank enough. After being honest, he couldn’t help slipping into a whine. "Mooom... don’t be like this, I’m only twenty-one, what’s the rush..."

Le Tong hadn’t heard her son act spoiled in a while. She’d thought that ever since the day he’d "grown up," the willful young master who loved to act cute had vanished.

Thankfully, he was still there!

"Alright, alright. Young master, eat well and have fun. Your royal mother grants you a curfew extension till midnight tonight!"

The Ji Family didn’t actually have a curfew rule, but the three siblings were usually quite disciplined when they went out. The latest they’d get back was around eleven-something.

"Thank you, Your Majesty!"

Ji Xiaobao happily hung up and drove off.

When he arrived at the restaurant, the server didn’t even ask and directly led him to the last private room in the hallway. The door opened, and sure enough, it was his little group of kids.

Seeing his confusion, the server who pulled out his chair and poured tea for him explained, "They said if we saw a very, very handsome guy, just bring him straight in."

The young master graciously grinned at the large table of kids, then plunked the big bag of snacks and drinks he’d just bought at the nearby supermarket onto the lazy Susan in the middle.

They’d been exercising all afternoon and were naturally starving. No one stood on ceremony with him; laughing and joking, they each grabbed chips and beef jerky and started chewing.

The young master then handed another bag of food to Zhu Qianyu. "You girls love ice cream. These are for you."

A few stinky boys had their mouths stuffed with snacks, but still howled loudly, "Mr. Huan, foul, foul!"

Ji Huan shot them a look. "Foul? Then swap it back. Give them the beef jerky and chips, and you guys take the ice cream!"

The boys hurriedly dragged the bag of their beloved stuff back toward them. "Mr. Huan, that’s not the foul we meant. We mean you shouldn’t be here stealing our resources!"

The young master’s smiling eyes swept over the few girls as he pretended not to understand. "Stealing resources? What resources am I stealing from you?"

The boys howled even louder. "Mr. Huan, a guy like you who’s got money, got brains, and looks good on top of that—you could just walk outside and easily reel in beauties. Why come here and compete with us?"

The young master put on a serious face and tapped his bent knuckles on the table. "Hey, hey, show some respect to our female compatriots, yeah? ’Reel in’—what kind of wording is that? Looks like it’s not just your foreign languages that are failing you; even your mother tongue must’ve been taught by your PE teacher."

That line had everyone cracking up.

"Mr. Huan, I heard you were B University’s once-in-a-decade genius. You’ve been graduated two or three years now—where are you working?"

After a match where they’d fought side by side, everyone had grown a lot more familiar, and one of the guys couldn’t help gossiping about Ji Huan’s private life.

"Me? Well, since my mother tongue is passable and my foreign language is also up to standard, I’m working at a pretty large-scale company."

Strictly speaking, what the young master said wasn’t a lie.

As for not revealing his real identity, it was simply because he didn’t think it was necessary.

In fact, even among his classmates at B University at the time, not many people initially knew he was the little prince of the Ji Family. And he’d never liked using that identity to talk big.

In his view, if a man is always going on about "who my dad is" and "who my mom is," it only proves one thing: that man’s got no skills.

If you’ve got nothing of your own worth showing off, all you can do is drag out your parents to bask in borrowed glory.

He himself was indeed a textbook rich second or third generation, but he firmly believed that even without that background, with his own ability he could still live brilliantly and shine.

The students’ eyes on him held an extra layer of admiration.

Zhu Qianyu kept quietly eating her ice cream. All around her, all she could hear was Ji Huan’s pleasant baritone voice, sometimes teasing, sometimes joking.

"You guys are starting finals next week, right?"

In the midst of the baritone’s idle chatter, he suddenly pulled the subject back to serious academics.

"Tsk, Mr. Huan, can’t you not be such a buzzkill? We should drink while we can and enjoy today. Let us mess around a few more days, okay?" One of the boys immediately protested.

"Look at how nervous you all are. I’m not here to lecture you. Your Teacher Xian will be back next week; I’m only subbing for you until this weekend. I just wanted to ask—do you want me to mark out the key points and the syllabus for this course?"

"Yes, yes!" This time, even the girls joined the chorus.

Even Zhu Qianyu, who’d barely spoken to him, really wanted to get those key points and the syllabus. Because even with just two short days of class, she had clearly recognized the gap between Teacher Xian and this Ji Huan.

Not that Teacher Xian was bad—just that there are always people in this world who are outstanding no matter what they do, and Ji Huan was probably one of those people.

On the podium, he’d needed only one or two class periods to make a whole group of rebellious students fall in line. On the basketball court, a single elegant three-pointer was enough to draw every gaze, on and off the court, straight to him...

"Alright, since you all want it, I’ll organize it over the next two days and try to have it ready before Friday. When it’s done, I’ll send it to Zhu Qianyu. I’ll have to trouble you to forward it to the rest of the class, okay?"

Could Zhu Qianyu say no?

Of course not!

"Okay. Thank you, Mr. Ji!" Zhu Qianyu said sincerely.

Judging from how meticulous he was when grading assignments, this set of key points and syllabus would definitely cost him quite a bit of time and energy.

So even though she suspected his motives might not be quite that pure, in the end, she deliberately ignored that tiny voice in her heart.

She even forgot what her sister often told her: in this world, no one owes anyone anything. If you accept someone’s favor out of the blue, you’d better be prepared to pay it back.
