Trapped Inside the Beta Test World for 1000 Years

Chapter 31 – I want to hit ten!

Chapter 31 – I want to hit ten!

Soon, Xia Ya arrived.

"Bet on me to win in all matches except the tenth."

Xia Ya handed Yveline a silver coin and then jumped into the arena.

The venue fell silent instantly, with only the noisy host shouting loudly.

"Look, a brand-new character has made a grand entrance!

"Undoubtedly, he's a rookie, with a past record of zero. Tell me loudly, what does this mean?

"That's right, it means unlimited possibilities!

"As long as you bet on him to win, you can earn back all the gold coins you've lost with just one silver coin!

"So what are you waiting for? Place your bets, folks!

"Now, let's see who the young Xia Ya will fight against... Draw lots, begin!"

Around the arena's wooden fence was a circle of crystals flashing red and green lights, each as big as a watermelon, embedded in stone bases.

The lights flowed like neon, and piercing music played as the sound of betting echoed from the stands.

The lights spun around and finally stopped steadily on a crystal in the corner.

Green light, 14.

"Contestant number 14, oh I remember now, it's Gedia's good 'friend,' the handsome Sun Elf mage, Johnny Olsen! Oh ho! Let's welcome Johnny to the stage!"

Cheers mixed with whistles echoed through the venue as Johnny, stepping on a magic bat, basked in the applause and slowly landed in front of Xia Ya.

The rules of the Fight Club were like this: opponents were randomly selected from registered contestants and the club's own trained fighters, distinguished by red and green lights.

Red light meant the club's own fighters, green light meant registered contestants.

Johnny Olsen, a level 22 Elementalist, level 24 Arcanist.

This contestant, personally, had nothing noteworthy except for his intelligence reaching 50 points.

His interesting aspect lay in his family.

As soon as Johnny landed, he made a provocative gesture with his magic wand towards Xia Ya.

"Your insult to Gedia is disgusting, you bastard. I'll make you kneel and beg for mercy!"

"Your mom's dead," Xia Ya said.

"Bastard! How dare you insult me!?"

Johnny's robe fluttered without wind, and a fireball the size of a basin instantly formed at the tip of his wand, trailing a long tail flame as it flew over.

Xia Ya swung the Frost Longsword, slicing the fireball in half with a Dark Moon Slash, the flames brushing past his hair, taking away 20 hp.

"I'm not insulting you, your mom really is dead," Xia Ya repeated. "If you don't believe me, take out your companion crystal and see for yourself. I won't make a move."

Clang

He threw the sword a few meters away.

This distance was absolutely safe.

Johnny frowned, first setting up a barrier and then raising a mage shield before taking out the crystal.

"Ahhhhh!! What's going on!?"

Johnny let out a desperate wail.

In his palm lay a cyan crystal, with blood threads swimming inside.

But it was shattered, broken into three pieces!

When a Sun Elf is born, the holy tree secretes a drop of liquid, which fuses with the infant's blood to form a crystal, indicating the elf's life and death.

Whenever a Sun Elf goes out for training, they exchange crystals with their closest family to know the status of their relatives from afar.

"How, how could this happen?"

Johnny went crazy, his mind blank, incoherent, and he staggered towards Xia Ya, leaving his wand behind.

He grabbed Xia Ya by the collar:

"You know, don't you? You know what's going on?"

"Remember Ipland? The 120-year-old single guy who proposed to your sister and was humiliated."

"I remember, did he do it?" Johnny asked through gritted teeth.

"He didn't do it, remember, he didn't do it. The process, the reason, you go ask him and you'll know. Now go back, find him, and ask him. Don't believe anyone else's words," Xia Ya said.

He couldn't explain it clearly, no matter how much he tried.

Because it was too messy...

Sun Elves have a lifespan of 300-500 years, known for their longevity.

Their charm within the tribe generally ranges from 7-9, quite pleasing to the eye.

Coupled with their long lifespan giving them extraordinary energy, the elves of Elvenheim are almost casually linked in love.

Their private lives are even more chaotic than the most scandalous tales.

For instance, Ipland pursued Johnny's sister back then, and after failing, he had an epiphany—though he couldn't become her mother's son, he could make her his daughter!

So, he pursued Johnny's mom while Johnny was away traveling and succeeded.

Johnny's sister was unhappy! Why did this annoying man suddenly become her stepfather, always in her house?

So she came up with a bad idea, seducing Ipland herself, and having her boyfriend seduce her mom, trying to separate the two.

The plan started smoothly but then went awry.

The problem lay with her boyfriend...

On the path to seducing his girlfriend's mom, he suddenly discovered a truth.

This was his true love!

A gentle, voluptuous older woman was far better than any crafty, tsundere, flat-chested little devil!

So he defected!

Suddenly, Johnny's mom became highly sought after, and Johnny's sister was upset.

Not only did she become single, but also an orphan.

Her former boyfriend and the boyfriend she looked down upon both became her mom's boyfriends, how could this be!?

So she turned dark, attempting to poison and kill all three.

Ipland, with high poison resistance, escaped, and Johnny's sister pinned the blame on him, making Ipland a fugitive, forced to leave Elvenheim and wander nearby.

Johnny would meet him on his way back.

So only he could explain this matter clearly.

If Johnny believed his sister's words first, the truth would never be known.

...

"Alright, I've got it. Xia Ya, right? I'll remember you."

Johnny grabbed his wand, ready to dash out of the arena.

"Wait!"

"What?"

"Teach me an 'Oily Technique.'"

Johnny, anxious, tossed him a rune-engraved stone and then turned to leave.

"Beep beep beep—"

The alarm signaling a contestant's exit sounded, and Xia Ya was declared the winner by default.

The audience was silent, then suddenly erupted in a deafening roar:

"Fixed match! Fixed match! Fixed match!"

"Malicious game manipulation! Refund!"

"Johnny Olsen, you bastard!!"

"Maka! Maka! Come out and handle this!"

"Hurry up, hurry up!"

The wave of protests was unending, almost lifting the roof.

Maka, the Mushroom Person, with a red mushroom cap head, rode a wyvern into the air.

The wyvern's neck retracted, and a dragon's breath as thick as a basin swept across the stands, and the agile audience ran faster than anyone.

As Maka landed, they returned, this time much quieter.

Everyone knew Xia Ya had won, they were just venting their dissatisfaction.

"The match continues, next—"

"Wait."

Xia Ya stood in the arena, raising his hand, then clenched his fist.

"I want to fight ten!"

Stunned silence.

It was as if a steamroller had flattened everything, leaving not a single ripple.
