Chapter 1295: Citywide Riot (3)
Chapter 1295: Citywide Riot (3)
Clearly, if even the Queen and Lancelot inside the stone chamber could hear it, there was no way the members of Doomsday Myth would not be alarmed.
“What’s going on?”
Catherine and Judas were the last to come out—by the time they arrived, Caesar and Tipu were already outside.
A massive black shadow appeared in the sky… the scattered lights flickering across it finally allowing its shape to be vaguely discerned.
“This is…” Judas immediately frowned.
At that moment, urgent beast-like cries rang out—it was the Queen’s pet, shrieking in terror at the gigantic object in the sky.
“Looks like they’re not incompetent after all… they still found us,” Judas said with concern.
By all logic, this place should have blocked all means of sensing magical power—they had even been confident they could wait safely here until sunrise.
But now, not only had the sun not risen, there was still more than an hour before midnight… still technically the same day.
“Leader?” Tipu hurriedly looked toward Caesar.Caesar said calmly, “Take the Queen and leave. I’ll handle this here… we’ll regroup at the agreed location.”
“But—” Catherine grabbed Caesar’s arm.
He simply smiled faintly at her, took the harmonica from his chest, placed it in her hand, and said softly, “Keep it for me. As long as it’s still there, I’ll definitely come back.”
Catherine fell silent for a moment, then nodded. She knew what the harmonica meant to Caesar—it was a keepsake left by his late wife, something he always carried and cherished deeply.
“If I don’t see you before dawn, I’ll smash it,” Catherine said fiercely, standing on tiptoe and biting hard into Caesar’s shoulder before turning and rushing back inside without looking back.
“Be careful,” Judas said quickly.
“Leader, we’ll be waiting for you!” Tipu hugged Caesar as well.
They all left.
Caesar took a deep breath, glanced at the faintly visible holy mark on the back of his hand, then looked thoughtfully at the enormous shadow in the sky. “The holy mark isn’t reacting… so it’s not the Knight Bureau.”
……
Inside the massive warplane in the night sky, more than twenty young men and women in blue-black tight combat suits sat in four rows.
On the screen before them appeared the Prime Minister.
In an impassioned tone, he rallied them: “Before you are extremely dangerous non-humans threatening our nation’s security. But I believe that years of effort and sacrifice have made you the most elite warriors! Each of you embodies the countless hopes of our country… Today, you shall become the sword that saves the world! 【The-Fianna】—warriors of the Fianna—step onto your stage!”
They straightened their backs and shouted in unison, “We are the sword of salvation! We are the Fianna!”
As they spoke, their seats began to shift. Suddenly, strange metal components unfolded from behind the chairs and assembled themselves onto their bodies.
Like powered exoskeleton armor, the components locked onto their legs, arms, waists—and finally, lightweight helmets enclosed their heads.
All of this was completed in under ten seconds.
Then, the armored floor panels beneath their seats opened—beyond them was the night sky outside the warplane. From here, they dropped!
One after another, the Fianna warriors plunged into the air. The armor on their backs burst open, transforming into shell-shaped thrusters on both sides… granting them individual freedom of movement in the sky!
At the same time, inside 【The-Fianna】 headquarters, in the enormous control room, the screens displayed the faces and personal data of each warrior.
Power levels. Vital signs.
“It’s finally beginning…” the Prime Minister murmured, now strangely calm as he watched the screens.
……
In the distance, on a small hill, two men wearing jackets, grass rings on their heads, and covered with large patches of turf were observing the night sky through night-vision goggles.
One even had a cigarette in his mouth.
“They’ve finally shown themselves… the British government’s secret weapon,” the smoking man said with excitement—in fluent Chinese.
“Team leader, we’ve been undercover for years, and finally we have results,” his companion said, unable to hide his excitement. “I haven’t been back in years—I wonder what the bureau looks like now…”
“Enough talk. Record everything and transmit it back immediately,” the leader said. “This looks like some kind of advanced tech. I bet Dr. Zhao at the First Research Institute won’t be able to sleep tonight!”
“Roger!”
……
……
In the courtyard before the old monastery, Caesar stood alone with his hands behind his back, calmly watching the figures descend from the night sky.
There was only one priest in the monastery—a retired one, now confined to a room inside. No one would ever imagine that the Queen of Britain was being held in this inconspicuous, dilapidated monastery on the outskirts of Foggy City.
The number was… twenty-three.
Caesar silently counted the figures in their strange armor—each holding a massive gun-like weapon, all of them very young.
Two of them slowly landed on the ground. The shell-shaped armor wings on their backs folded away as they raised their weapons at Caesar and said sternly, “Don’t move!”
Caesar glanced at them calmly, moving one hand from behind his back—just then, one of the two young men suddenly pulled the trigger.
A beam of light shot past Caesar’s cheek at extreme speed, and a thunderous boom sounded behind him.
Caesar looked back. The monastery wall now had a nearly one-meter-wide hole melted through it.
…The edges of the damaged wall glowed with molten heat, so hot that even the air seemed to warp.
“I told you not to move!” the shooter shouted angrily. “Drop your weapon and surrender! You’re surrounded… I told you not to move!”
Caesar merely pulled a pack of cigarettes from his coat, lit one under everyone’s gaze, and took a drag as if no one else were there.
Exhaling the smoke, he finally spoke slowly: “I don’t know exactly who you are… but judging by this, it’s probably your first mission, isn’t it?”
His voice rang not only in the ears of all twenty-three 【The-Fianna】 members, but also echoed inside 【The-Fianna】 headquarters’ control room.
The Prime Minister, watching, frowned.
“If I were you, I wouldn’t have made such a grand entrance,” Caesar said lightly. “Not if your mission was to rescue someone. So… what are you trying to show off? And why the urgency to show it?”
“Take him down! Don’t waste time talking! Storm the monastery! Eliminate the enemy!” a leading young man in the sky barked out the order.
“Sure enough, the objective isn’t to rescue the hostage.” Caesar shook his head, then stamped his foot.
In the next instant, he flashed in front of one of the two soldiers on the ground and casually threw a punch. The soldier reacted quickly, raising one arm.
Caesar’s fist slammed into the armor on the soldier’s arm, and a small light shield spread out from it, actually blocking the blow.
Even so, the soldier didn’t have it easy—he staggered back several steps before stabilizing himself with the extended supports of his leg armor.
“Not a bad reaction,” Caesar said, glancing at him with mild surprise, then seriously examining the armor worn by these soldiers.
Inside 【The-Fianna】 base control room, the Prime Minister sneered as he watched this non-human criminal. He rather enjoyed seeing such arrogant non-humans look shocked.
To counter the inhuman speed of these beings, each unit of the special armor known as the “Dragoon” was equipped with more than five micro high-speed cameras, ensuring full 360-degree motion capture without blind spots.
At the same time, to allow the user’s brain to process such terrifying amounts of dynamic data, every operator had undergone extensive drug treatments and technological enhancements. Not only that, the “Dragoon” armor was also fitted with an auxiliary intelligent system, fully capable of handling emergencies on multiple fronts at once.
And this was only the tip of the iceberg of Dragoon armor technology.
“Tremble before the crystallization of humanity… non-humans!”
……
“Fire!!”
With the shout of the young man who seemed to be the squad leader of 【The-Fianna】, more than a dozen red targeting points instantly appeared on Caesar’s body.
He seemed a step too slow to react. All the 【The-Fianna】 warriors activated their weapons at once, beams of light pouring down in rapid succession, mercilessly bombarding Caesar.
Boom boom boom boom—!!!!
The courtyard in front of the monastery was instantly filled with rolling smoke. The destructive power was like a barrage of RPG shells, and the extreme heat even melted the soil itself.
After a twenty-second sustained volley, the 【The-Fianna】 leader finally signaled a ceasefire.
Within the thick smoke, they activated imaging scans. On the crystal displays before their eyes, Caesar’s figure could be seen motionless amid the haze.
“He didn’t even blow his body apart?!” In the control room, the same scan appeared simultaneously. The Prime Minister stared in shock as the figure in the smoke seemed to begin moving.
The ground had turned into scorched earth, pitted and cratered, as Caesar slowly walked out of the smoke—like a traveler striding across the land of purgatory.
His Baroque-style coat was already in tatters. Caesar casually tore it off, and it completely fell apart.
Seeing him emerge, the 【The-Fianna】 members raised their weapons again. Twenty crimson targeting points converged on Caesar once more.
This had to be a joke… after taking twenty seconds of concentrated fire, they’d only managed to destroy his coat?
“So that’s how it is.”
Caesar brushed the ash from his body. “At this level, most non-humans really wouldn’t be able to withstand it. What would follow would probably be a miserable death… Even for me, fighting you like this would be somewhat disadvantageous.”
He shook his head and slowly began unbuttoning his shirt. The 【The-Fianna】 members clearly had no intention of waiting and started firing again.
Caesar waved his hand to block—no, to swat the shots aside.
His arm blurred into an afterimage, seemingly faster than the light-speed shots themselves, casually batting away beam after beam, all while his left hand continued unbuttoning his shirt.
Finally, under the terrified gazes of the 【The-Fianna】 members, Caesar endured the entire volley. Their weapons were forced into a brief cooldown.
Caesar finished removing his shirt, revealing a body of perfectly proportioned muscles—near the golden ratio, yet not overly bulky.
The shirt hung loosely from his hand. He released it.
Boom—!!
The instant the shirt hit the ground, the earth trembled violently. The scorched ground was smashed into a massive crater by the seemingly lightweight shirt. Cracks spread across the entire courtyard of the monastery, and even the surrounding walls collapsed.
At the moment the shirt landed, Caesar lightly pushed off with his legs. The ground split again—and he reappeared in front of the 【The-Fianna】 member who had taken his first punch, throwing another punch without hesitation.
With high-speed cameras and AI assistance, this 【The-Fianna】 member managed only to raise a single finger.
Bang!
This punch landed—and the 【The-Fianna】 member did not go flying as expected.
The chest armor of his Dragoon shattered instantly… and then his entire body exploded.
A mist of blood scattered.
On the ground, only tiny fragments and clumps of flesh remained. In 【The-Fianna】 headquarters’ control room, the Prime Minister sprang to his feet, mouth agape, eyes bulging as if his jaw were about to drop.
The control room fell into deathly silence.
……
……
“Moon Beast King?”
Inside a hotel, Mind Witch was chatting idly with Farrell. After leaving the prison, she had found the Sir Knight’s body unbearably smelly, so she forcefully made him take a proper shower and temporarily found a hotel.
After washing up, Farrell looked much better.
Perhaps it was just an illusion, but Mind Witch felt that his flesh seemed fuller, no longer as gaunt as when he was in the castle prison.
Miss Gillian was currently trimming the Sir Knight’s unruly long hair, chatting about old stories from the past.
“It’s said that only one Moon Beast King is born among ten million beastmen, and that such a being possesses supreme power.”
Farrell looked at his increasingly refreshed face in the mirror, seemingly enjoying the attention as Mind Witch cut his hair.
He continued, “Of course, that’s just a legend. I’ve never seen one myself.”
