Chapter 1280: Go to the Room with Its Own Pool!

Chapter 1280: Go to the Room with Its Own Pool!

On the surface, it was merely a luxurious manor—but in reality, it was the gathering place of Foggy City’s Knights of the Round Table organization.

The manor belonged to the Perkins family. After more than half a century of continuous expansion and modification, it had effectively become a large-scale base.

Inside the interrogation room.

Red slowly regained consciousness from a state that felt like a tour through hell. Along with clarity came pain that seemed to scorch his very soul.

He couldn’t help letting out a few painful groans… and the first thing he saw was his own hands.

They were a bloody mess, as if pulled straight from a fire. At the same time, they were shackled—his entire body locked into a metal chair.

“Such tenacious vitality. You woke up surprisingly fast.”

Standing before Red was a pale face painted like a weeping clown—Dagonet, Joker, one of the Twelve Knights of the Round Table.

Not only Dagonet was present. Gareth was there as well, along with the silent Mr. Perkins, seated to one side with both hands resting on his cane.

This high-ranking member of Doomsday Myth had suffered terrifying injuries. The Foggy City Knight Bureau had spent a considerable amount of precious medicine to pull him back from the brink of death—something that hadn’t really been necessary. But they had no choice.

If they couldn’t extract information from Red about the other members of Doomsday Myth—their locations, contacts, and future plans—then in three days, this country would likely face a catastrophic disaster.

Under Red’s dazed gaze, Mr. Joker suddenly produced a remote control from his palm as if performing a magic trick.

As Red seemed to realize what it was, Mr. Joker smiled, extended a finger, and slowly pressed the button right in front of his eyes.

Instantly, a massive electric current surged into the metal chair.

A piercing scream rang out. Red’s already badly burned body convulsed violently. Gareth frowned and said impatiently, “Dagonet, we’re running out of time. If you shock him unconscious, how much more time will we waste?”

“Relax, I’ve got it measured out,” Mr. Joker said, releasing the button and shrugging. “This is just a demonstration—a demonstration that’ll save us time. Smart people know when to answer honestly. Right, Mr. Red?”

As Mr. Joker had said, the shock didn’t knock Red unconscious—it merely subjected him to inhuman torment.

Red weakly raised his head and sneered. “If I don’t talk… none of you will sleep tonight, will you?”

Joker’s lips curled slightly. “Of course. I’d love for you to keep silent.”

He pressed the button again. Sparks visibly danced across the metal chair. Red’s body spasmed even more violently, his eyes rolling back.

“Red! How many people does Doomsday Myth have? Where are they hiding? What’s the next target?” Gareth demanded urgently. “I hope you’ll end your suffering and cooperate with us.”

As he spoke, Gareth snatched the remote from Joker’s hand. Mr. Joker pouted exaggeratedly, squatting on the floor and looking up at him.

Ignoring him, Gareth grabbed Red by the hair and lifted his head. “If you’re willing to cooperate, we can give you an extradition permit and grant you legal non-human status in this country. We’ll also negotiate with the Magicians’ Association to lift the bounty on you. Sunlight—that’s what you want too, isn’t it?”

Red continued to sneer, his voice broken. “You… agreed to the demands… sunlight… belongs to us too…”

Gareth frowned. “Do you even realize what you’re doing? Ceding all of Northern Ireland and declaring independence—are you announcing your existence to the world? Are you trying to start a war?”

“The serpent in the shadows will return… and this is… the beginning… starting… from death… ah—!!!”

“Dagonet! That’s enough!”

Seeing Red fall unconscious after the third shock, Gareth’s gentle expression instantly turned severe.

Mr. Joker was crouched at Gareth’s feet, secretly pressing the shock button again, wearing an infuriatingly mischievous grin.

Gareth shook his head. After this third shock, Red wouldn’t be waking up anytime soon. He sighed and walked over to Mr. Perkins. “Sir, Red has undergone extensive resistance training. Truth serums won’t work on him. If he refuses to talk…”

Mr. Perkins rubbed the carving on his cane, remaining silent. At that moment, the interrogation room door was suddenly flung open.

A woman in a purple gown, with dark eye shadow and a striking figure, walked in slowly. Mr. Joker whistled, stood up, and with a flick of his fingers produced three throwing knives.

Gareth frowned deeply. “A mind witch… Gillian Anderson? Why are you here?”

“I invited her,” Mr. Perkins said quietly. “Gareth, I believe we need her abilities to extract Doomsday Myth’s intelligence from Red in the shortest possible time.”

As he spoke, the woman in purple approached gracefully, stopped beside Perkins, sat on the armrest of his chair, and lifted his chin with her fingers. “My dear Perkins, I hope you’ll keep your promise.”

“Don’t try to control my mind, Gillian,” Perkins replied calmly, his gaze as clear as a lake. “I’ll keep my promise—but in return, you’ll help me. This is a transaction born of necessity.”

“Of course. You are the great King Arthur’s descendant,” Gillian smiled faintly, then glanced at Gareth and Joker before walking over to Red.

Gareth still frowned, looking toward Mr. Perkins for confirmation.

“I promised her a chance to visit that person,” Perkins said, shaking his head.

“That person…” Gareth’s expression changed. “Sir!”

Perkins waved his hand. “Factoring in the time we’ll need to deploy after obtaining Doomsday Myth’s intelligence, if you’re confident you can get what we need from Red within half an hour, I’ll terminate this deal immediately.”

Gareth fell silent. Half an hour? With someone as stubborn as Red, even half a month might not pry out a useful word.

“Hm… I’m curious how you managed to capture Red, a Silver-tier magician,” Gillian said as she circled the metal chair, her fingers brushing Red’s shoulder. “He’s been wanted by the Magicians’ Association for ten years. Was it Mr. Joker’s doing? Your superhuman intuition seems like the perfect counter to Red’s teleportation.”

“It wasn’t me,” Mr. Joker shrugged, offering no further explanation.

“Is that so?” Gillian didn’t seem to care. She completed another circle, stopped in front of Red, and cupped his face with both hands.

Her eyes suddenly turned completely black—entirely black, eerie beyond words.

About ten minutes later, Gillian stretched lazily and smiled. “All done. Red’s will is protected against mind-based magic, but I bypassed it. You have about twenty minutes now—ask whatever you want, quickly.”

As she spoke, Gillian shot Mr. Joker a flirtatious wink and reiterated, “Only twenty minutes. If you waste them on me, that wouldn’t be very wise.”

Mr. Joker could only withdraw the throwing knives from between his fingers.

As she was leaving, Gillian suddenly looked at Mr. Perkins and chuckled softly. “The prison… I’ll let you know when I go.”

……

……

Inside the room, after enduring the pain and finally catching his breath, Will struggled to his feet, staring in terror at the man in the black trench coat blocking his way.

He seemed to hear something else as well—a child’s cries coming from outside.

A gang… a criminal syndicate… or something else?

Using the motion of standing up as cover, Will quietly activated the phone tucked into his waistband. He didn’t know who it would call; he only hoped someone would pick up and hear what was happening.

“You’re here for that child?” Will frowned. “Were his injuries caused by you? You’re abusing a minor?”

“If you don’t want trouble, don’t interfere,” the trench-coat man said, arms crossed as he stood at the doorway. “Relax. We’ll disappear from your sight and won’t bother you again.”

Will snapped angrily, “But you’re taking a wounded child from me! I have serious reason to believe you’re involved in illegal activity—possibly unlawful detention and abuse of a minor!”

The man shook his head, clearly impatient, but replied casually, “You wouldn’t want to know what kind of background that child has anyway… What are you doing with your hand?”

As he spoke, he stepped forward, grabbed Will’s arm, and yanked it out forcefully. “A phone? Trying something funny?”

“Let go of me! You criminals! Let go—”

The man smashed Will’s phone to the ground, then grabbed him and hurled him into the wall. “Looks like it’ll be better if you take a nap.”

He sneered and walked toward Will.

Will stared in terror… but at that moment, a loud commotion erupted outside, like smashing and crashing sounds. The man frowned, struck Will again, and knocked him to the floor—pain so intense he couldn’t even crawl.

“I’ll deal with you later.”

With that, he opened the door and walked out.

……

Outside, another man in a trench coat was already lying on the ground, and the community center’s reception area was in complete disarray.

The two beastkin siblings, however, had been forced back into a corner.

There were simply too many ways to deal with beastkin, especially when the targets were minors. Simpson didn’t even move—he merely watched coldly.

“Sir? What happened?”

The man who had been watching Will hurried over, but Simpson only gave a brief nod. The man frowned. “Sir, since both targets have been located—”

He was met with Simpson’s icy gaze.

The man swallowed the rest of his words and turned to look at the two small beastkin in the corner.

“Sister…” the boy whimpered, hiding behind the girl.

The girl shielded him with one arm, glaring fiercely at the enemies surrounding them, and whispered, “Oga, I’ll hold them off. When you see an opening, run—run nonstop, understand? Once you’re out, head for the tallest building. You must go to the seventeenth floor, to the room with a swimming pool. There might be someone there who can protect you. That person is… hard to deal with, but be careful!”

“Sister, I’m not leaving!”

“Listen to me!” The girl looked him straight in the eyes. “I promise I’ll be fine—and I’ll come find you!”

With that, she grabbed the boy’s arm and flung him away with all her strength, while she kicked off the ground and slammed into one of the approaching men in black trench coats.

Her body hadn’t developed to a proper beastkin level yet—she was agile, but lacked strength. The impact wasn’t enough to knock down a fully trained knight.

What terrified her was that her move failed. When she came back to her senses, she saw that Oga hadn’t escaped.

Instead, Simpson had easily caught him by the leg, hoisted him upside down, and slammed him hard into the ground.

Simpson smiled faintly and pulled open his coat. A narrow sword flashed out, about to pierce straight through Oga’s body.

“No—!!!”

The girl screamed in despair. In that instant, fine white fur sprouted across her body, and her amber eyes turned dark red.

Hiss—!!!

In a split second, a cloud of white gas suddenly burst out, spreading at incredible speed and filling the entire reception area. At the same time, a piercing alarm sounded.

Simpson covered his nose and waved his arm, trying to disperse the gas.

As it thinned, an extinguisher could be seen rolling across the floor—but the two small beastkin were gone.

“Where are they?!”

Outside the community center, Will was already holding the delicate-looking boy as he hurried into a yellow sedan, which then sped away.

A Grand Knight of the Knight Bureau letting two small beastkin escape right under his nose—Simpson’s expression instantly turned dark and ugly. “How exactly were you watching them?”

“I’m sorry, sir. I knocked him down. I didn’t expect—” the man lowered his head and apologized hastily.

“Hmph! Then hurry up and chase them!” Simpson barked.

The man nodded repeatedly. As he watched the yellow car race away, a flicker of relief crossed his face.
