Chapter 1271: The Airport
Chapter 1271: The Airport
Xuanyuan Secret Realm, Royal Palace… inside the princess’s bedchamber.
On a soft couch, Su Zijun wore only a cool, black slip‑dress that looked like sleepwear. Her long legs were crossed, and she held a luminous crystal glass filled with spirit‑beast blood while resting her cheek on her hand.
In front of her, Jessica—dressed in a purple‑and‑gold phoenix gown—was sitting upright in a perfectly proper posture. She had been maintaining this posture for a full hour.
Suddenly, Jessica’s shoulders dipped slightly, and in the next instant a cane lashed across her waist. With Jessica’s current body, this kind of strike shouldn’t have caused pain.
But in reality—
It hurt. A lot. Burning hot.
The one holding the cane was none other than Lord Kui Qianyi of the Xuanyuan Palace. His voice was stern:
“Listen. A debate in court lasts at least several hours! As Her Highness the Princess, your bearing must never lose its dignity!”
Jessica wanted to cry but had no tears. She couldn’t disobey Su Zijun’s orders, but these days of learning endless ancient etiquette were driving her insane… she even had to learn oracle bone script.
Su Zijun’s bite had given her immortality—and the ability to go without rest. That ability was now being used to the fullest. Out of her 24 hours a day, she had about thirty minutes of free time, at most.Ye Yan had once said that his homeland was a nation obsessed with studying and examinations, with thousands of years of tradition.
This was exactly the kind of terrible “tradition” he meant!
“Enough.”
Su Zijun suddenly sat up straight. “How much longer are you going to drag this out? Am I not leaving the palace today?”
Kui Qianyi replied calmly, “Your Highness, Jessica’s sitting‑posture lesson still has another hour. Then she has walking‑posture training. And tonight she must study—”
Before he finished speaking, Su Zijun flung her crystal cup directly toward his face.
The old turtle calmly raised a hand and caught it.
“Your Highness, this old servant believes it is better to be cautious. If outsiders discover that Jessica is impersonating you, the Xuanyuan Palace will fall into chaos.”
“How long is this supposed to take?” Su Zijun frowned.
“Ten to eight years should be enough… given Miss Jessica’s intelligence,” Kui Qianyi said seriously.
Jessica rolled her eyes.
Su Zijun rolled her eyes.
Kui Qianyi remained deadly serious. “Let us continue the lesson.”
Su Zijun suddenly beckoned. “Kui Qianyi, come here. I have something to tell you… and remember, it must remain secret.”
Seeing Su Zijun solemnly form a barrier of demonic energy around herself, Kui Qianyi looked puzzled, took small steps forward, and asked, “Your Highness, what is it?”
“Turn around first.” Su Zijun gestured.
Bewildered, Kui Qianyi turned—
And immediately sensed danger.
Something slammed hard against his head… then nothing.
Jessica stared wide‑eyed at Su Zijun, who was standing on the couch holding the Xuanyuan Godslayer Sword. She was so stunned she couldn’t speak.
Su Zijun held the sword upright with absolute seriousness.
“This Godslayer Sword can behead tyrants above and traitors below! Knocking him out is already showing mercy!”
The one that beheads tyrants and traitors is the Emperor’s Sword…
I didn’t study much, but I literally took the exam last night—don’t fool me.
Jessica rolled her eyes again.
Su Zijun dragged a suitcase out from under the couch. “You stay here. I’m leaving. The Mirage Dragon Pearl is with Kui Qianyi—he’ll know what to do.”
“Master, take me with you,” Jessica said, gathering her courage.
But Su Zijun answered calmly, “You will stay and take my place for a while. Remember—drink at least five cups of spirit‑beast blood every day. And don’t use your lightning ability while your body still can’t handle it. If you value your life, remember this.”
“Master, I want revenge.”
Su Zijun said, “Your enemy is mine. As for your husband… pfft! I’m going. Behave yourself. If you want to leave, wait until you pass the Golden Sword General Trial. Then I’ll consider picking you up.”
Jessica tried to chase after her, but a wave of demonic energy slapped her into the cushion and pinned her down. Helpless, she could only watch Su Zijun stride away.
Jessica sighed.
Kui Qianyi rubbed his head and slowly sat up.
“Sigh… this girl really doesn’t know how to show respect to her elders.”
“Lord Turtle, you’re okay?” Jessica blinked.
Kui Qianyi stood, expression blank.
“Continue your lesson. You still have another hour to sit. Also, you must set aside two hours every day for sword training. Try to pass the Iron Sword Warrior exam within two months.”
“I— Where am I supposed to find four hours?!”
“Time is like a chest—squeeze it and space appears. Do you know what the Yin hour of the Xuanyuan Palace is like? Enough nonsense! Sit straight!”
The cane cracked down again—
Pa!
…
…
Capital City, Management Bureau Headquarters, Second Technical Research Institute.
Outside an observation room sealed with reinforced glass, researchers were anxiously watching the interior. A forklift delivered a massive iron cage into the room.
Inside the cage was a strong adult bull.
“Director Pu, everything is ready!”
The director of the Second Research Institute—Pu Jianli, a kind‑faced man around forty—stepped forward with a gentle smile.
“Begin.”
A platform slowly rose from the floor in the center of the room. On it was a sealed metal container.
The container opened, revealing an ugly, living mass of flesh. Though alive, it moved sluggishly, and the liquid nitrogen inside the box evaporated as the temperature rose.
When it warmed enough, the meat lump stirred. It crawled down from the platform like a worm and slowly approached the bull.
Everyone outside watched closely.
Finally, the lump reached the bull.
In an instant, it spread open with terrifying elasticity like a giant net and wrapped the bull completely, ignoring the bull’s panicked struggle—becoming a huge sphere of flesh.
It pulsed like an enormous stomach, shrinking bit by bit…
The strong bull was digested until nothing remained, and the lump shrank back to only slightly larger than before.
Then it seemed unsatisfied.
It suddenly leapt and smashed into the glass wall—
Sticking onto it like glue, right in front of the scientists.
“Quick! Flood the chamber with nitrogen!”
Cold air filled the room. After a long moment, the flesh lump hardened like frozen chewing gum and slid off the glass.
“Incredible… it actually swallowed a full‑grown bull and digested it completely! Its cellular structure is—”
“All previous small‑animal tests confirmed this. It doesn’t just digest living creatures—it absorbs their traits. It’s essentially a universal cell! Director Pu, if we can uncover its core mechanism, we can finally surpass First Research Institute’s Dr. Zhao’s results! Director Pu?”
The kind Director Pu kept staring at the now-rigid flesh mass on the floor, seemingly not hearing his subordinates speak, murmuring to himself: “Truly a beautiful creature… I wonder if it can digest demons? There’s still plenty of demon materials in the lab… should I give it a try? How many more surprises can you give me…”
…
…
9:00 PM.
“Attention passengers bound for London, please make sure you have all your luggage…”
The announcement echoed through the airport hall. At the security checkpoint, Auntie Ren was blowing her nose with a tissue. “Don’t eat random food outside, don’t hang out with shady people! I heard foreign students are all bad! If any Black guys approach you, don’t go out with them at night! Also, if someone offers you a cigarette, refuse—it could be marijuana, and…”
She went on and on.
Seeing Luo Qiu off were only Ren Ziling and Li Zi—Li Zi had been dragged along by Auntie Ren.
Luo Qiu amusedly watched this woman, usually stoic in pain, suddenly getting teary, letting her chatter away.
He said to Li Zi, “Miss Li Zi, you’ll drive later, right?”
“Oh… okay.” Li Zi replied absentmindedly, her gaze on a restaurant sign in the airport hall.
“All right, I’m going through security now.”
Ren Ziling wiped her tears again, then hooked Luo Qiu’s arm and pulled him a few steps away from You Ye. Like an aunt selling pirated DVDs on the street years ago, she opened her coat and pulled out something resembling a protective talisman.
“What’s this now?”
“I prayed for it!” Auntie Ren said mysteriously. “It was really hard to get it from the Multi-Child Guanyin! Keep it safe!”
“I probably would’ve left without telling you,” Luo Qiu shook his head.
Ren Ziling glared, then tapped his forehead and scolded, “You take it, that’s final! No more nonsense! Remember, it’s your duty to continue the Luo family line!”
In the whole world, only she could talk to Boss Luo this way.
Miss Maid watched and stifled a small smile.
“I really have to go now,” Luo Qiu avoided answering.
Ren Ziling had no choice; she shoved the talisman into his pocket and zipped it up. “Remember to call home often!”
“I’ll probably be back for summer vacation.”
Finally satisfied, Ren Ziling let go of Luo Qiu and pulled Miss Maid aside to whisper something in her ear.
Suddenly, footsteps approached—a familiar voice could be heard from afar.
That long purple hair.
…
“Just made it in time.”
“How did you know when I’d be here?” Luo Qiu asked Song Ying, curious—he didn’t remember telling her his exact departure time.
Song Ying seemed a bit rushed, and he could see her small chest moving with each breath. Behind her was assistant Ziyun.
“Young Master Qiu, did you forget which airline you’re flying?” Ziyun whispered with amusement. “Young Miss and Miss Zhang just inquired—they’d know when you leave.”
“I just wanted a simple departure,” Luo Qiu replied.
“If they can come, why can’t I?” Song Ying snorted, glancing at the blonde behind Luo Qiu. “Having a girlfriend, big deal! I’m still your older sister!”
“That’s not it,” Luo Qiu shook his head. “I really just didn’t want to trouble you… but thank you for seeing me off. I’ll remember it.”
Who asked you to remember this…
Miss Ying bit her lip, then opened her arms and lightly embraced him, pressing her cheek against the left side of Luo Qiu’s face, her lips brushing lightly.
Luo Qiu was a bit surprised.
Song Ying casually said, “Don’t overthink it, it’s just a simple farewell kiss!”
Auntie Ren and the others had already noticed Miss Ying arriving… especially Auntie Ren, who instinctively covered her mouth, secretly amused.
“I wasn’t overthinking,” Luo Qiu smiled slightly, mimicking Song Ying’s gesture, gently holding her and pressing his cheek to hers. “Take good care of yourself.”
Song Ying froze… unable to react, she instinctively covered her cheek.
Seeing this, Auntie Ren cleverly stepped forward, muttering she wanted one too, grabbed Luo Qiu, and gave a playful quick kiss, then released him satisfied.
Boss Luo’s gaze then casually fell on Li Zi.
Li Zi quickly waved her hand and stepped back. “I’ll skip… just remember to send me some good food back!”
“Such a move?” Ziyun was astonished at Young Master Qiu—how did he do that? Miss Ying was supposed to be the one showing off here!
Under the dumbfounded eyes of Song Ying and the reluctant Auntie Ren, Luo Qiu and You Ye walked into the security checkpoint.
“Now that you’re leaving, stop spacing out. Want to grab a drink?”
Song Ying felt someone tap her shoulder. Turning, she saw Ren Ziling.
Auntie Ren squinted and smiled, “You drink, Ying~~ can’t have mine…”
This woman was so shameless!!!
So annoying!!!
“Drink! Who’s afraid?”
…
…
…
In the night sky, a figure sped through the clouds, carrying a suitcase—this was Miss Su Zijun, leaving the palace smoothly, without encountering any unexpected incidents.
“Strange, almost there, but I don’t feel the old hag’s presence… is she not here?”
Miss Su Zijun murmured, yet didn’t slow her pace.
Suddenly, she blinked and felt herself falling—falling… falling.
Blink.
“???”
Blink.
“???”
Finally—!
Bang—!
Miss Su Zijun kissed the ground intimately.
