Chapter 1083: How Could There Be a Path to Immortality in This World? (91): Already a Dead Dog
Chapter 1083: How Could There Be a Path to Immortality in This World? (91): Already a Dead Dog
As Long Xiruo struggled to stand, a metal cross-stake suddenly rose from the bridge surface beneath her.
It had a massive suction force that instantly pulled her against it.
Not just her—Su Zijun and everyone else at the ends of the metal bridge were also trapped by similar cross-stakes, pinned in place like prisoners awaiting execution.
Long Xiruo struggled hard, but it was futile.
Below, the massive sphere slowly rose back into place.
Atop it stood Count Drekeya, silently observing everything.
Finally, the sphere returned to its original position, and the previously displaced metal pillars also returned and reactivated.
Count Drekeya held the glowing Book of Alaya in one hand, a faint smile on his face—on his left hand, the skeletal white bone glowed with eerie intensity.
“It won’t be long now,” Count Drekeya said with a chuckle. “Very soon, everything in this 003 Main World will serve me.”
On the metal bridge, Long Xiruo and the others looked on in growing panic, a deep sense of fear settling in.“You… what are you trying to do?!”
“Dragonkind,” Count Drekeya grinned sinisterly. “No harm in telling you… you’ll be witnesses! Witness my rise to greatness. This object is called the Book of Alaya…”
He held up the glowing orb. “Of course, in this Main World, it might go by many names… in your region, it might be called ‘Heaven’s Will (Tiandao).’ In others, ‘The Dead Sea Scrolls’… But for us, we simply call it the Book of Alaya.”
“Heaven’s Will?” Su Zijun sneered despite her grim situation. “You’re saying you’ve got ‘Heaven’s Will’ in your hands? What are you, Shi Zhile or something?”
Count Drekeya wasn’t fazed. “Naturally, it’s not the real Heaven’s Will… but in your world, it’s no different. In fact, it is your world's Heaven’s Will. What matters is this—now that the Book of Alaya of World 003 is in my hands, I can rewrite this world’s history however I wish.”
Long Xiruo suddenly froze, as if struck by realization. Her face turned pale.
Su Zijun frowned. “Rewrite history? You need this much effort just for that?”
She’d seen history rewritten plenty of times—dynastic changes always rewrote the past. History, after all, is written by the victors.
Count Drekeya smiled pityingly. “What I mean by ‘rewriting history’ is fundamentally different from the manipulations you know—here, fiction and distortion will become reality through the Book of Alaya. In an instant, I can become the sole, unified god of this world’s entire history!”
“Everyone will fanatically believe in me. They’ll willingly give everything to me—because from the moment of their birth, their consciousness will have already been shaped by a worldview that includes me! Their entire lives will be born knowing me, fearing me, and worshipping me!”
“Everyone?” Su Zijun scoffed. “You mean all seven billion people in this world?”
“You’ll understand soon,” Count Drekeya shook his head. “We’re not even on the same level. Even if some of you have higher powers… a civilizational gap is still a gap.”
With that, Count Drekeya stopped paying attention to those on the bridge and slowly sank into the sphere.
“Ugh! Freak!” Su Zijun thrashed violently—still no use.
“He… might not be lying…” Long Xiruo said with a shaky voice. “In my inherited memories… I think I’ve seen mention of something like this…”
Su Zijun turned abruptly, eyes wide in disbelief. “Wait—you… who even are you?”
Long Xiruo: ……
...
...
Inside the massive sphere, Count Drekeya wore a satisfied grin.
And why wouldn’t he be? After years of planning, success was within reach.
He placed the Book of Alaya onto a cylindrical pillar inside the sphere and muttered, “Even though it’s incomplete, it should still be enough to alter modern and contemporary history…”
Then, he pressed his palm to another pillar and spoke lowly:
“Mainframe, re-login. Transfer top-level access to me!”
The two giant metal pillars began to spin rapidly, and dazzling colors flickered throughout the sphere. The smile on Count Drekeya’s face grew wider.
“Soon… once history is rewritten, this world will summon the Root for me. The entire world will become my sacrificial offering!”
He closed his eyes, savoring the overwhelming power that felt so close at hand. He couldn’t help but chuckle again.
But then—
The smile froze on Count Drekeya’s face.
Pain twisted his expression.
His body began to mistify, flickering between solid and vapor states. The black mist surged erratically. He let out a sharp scream and collapsed!
“What’s going on…?!”
Count Drekeya stared in terror at his body… and especially at the white bone hand he had merged into himself. He trembled.
“Damn it… it’s the backlash from the Root!! Curse it…! So this body’s Source of Anomaly capacity can only handle one hand? Tai Yinzi, you useless trash!! How can I devour Cicero’s root power with this tiny scrap of Source of Anomaly?!”
Grimacing, Count Drekeya braced himself against the pillar and forced himself upright. “No… I need more Source of Anomaly, or I can’t even activate the Book of Alaya…”
Countless blue screens began rapidly flashing across the sphere’s interior. Finally, a glint of hope flashed in Count Drekeya’s eyes.
“Found it! Source of Anomaly compatibility rate… 79.64%! Excellent!”
He dismissed all other displays, locking onto one screen—the image of a young man with a scarf, wielding a longsword, smashing through metal walls.
“That’s… the true Black Soul Envoy I should’ve made the contract with! Damn it!! What a twist of fate…”
Count Drekeya gritted his teeth. “But no matter!”
He let out a few mad chuckles, enduring the backlash tearing through his body, and slammed his palm against the pillar.
“Override target priorities. New priority target is—!”
...
...
At that moment, elsewhere in the Universal Material Pool…
The printing of a special combat-type Valkyrie-Class Gaia was at 99.9%—and suddenly jumped to 100%!
The pool boiled violently. The material evaporated almost instantly, and the liquid level plunged—soon the bottom of the pool was visible.
At its center, a seven-meter-tall humanoid figure—Valkyrie-Class Gaia—slowly opened its eyes.
【Receiving... command】
It stepped out of the Universal Material Pool in a single stride, bursting directly through the printing platform. Then, with one stomp, it crushed the earlier awakened Combat-Type Gaia beneath its foot—completely obliterating it.
【La——!】
The Special Combat-Type, Valkyrie-Class, opened its lips and released a resonant, penetrating sound like a powerful recitative.
【La——!】
The Valkyrie-Class hovered and launched into the air, breaking through the vast space above the Universal Material Pool.
…
…
Having not only lost his Black Soul body but also reduced to a useless stray mutt, now stuck with two terrifying demons—how was he supposed to survive this? Asking online... of course not, that’s impossible!
Still, the young Daoist named Jiang Zuo was at least holding him in his arms, which gave Tai Yinzi a tiny bit of comfort amid all the misfortune.
Even so, Tai Yinzi remained stiff and uncooperative, playing dumb the whole way in silence, watching the two demons Gong Fanxing and Gongsun Wuwei do their thing.
His master had once entered the Penglai Treasure Vault, left behind the Green Lotus Sword Song, and vanished. Now these two had mysteriously appeared... Just what had happened back then?
Racking his brains, Tai Yinzi couldn’t figure it out. Suddenly, his nose tickled—as if someone somewhere was cursing him as useless trash... Achoo!
“This is the place. One of the blocked zones we couldn’t scan,” Gong Fanxing said, stopping in his tracks.
This metal corridor was unlike the ones they encountered before—and the massive metal door ahead was even more distinct.
Intricate patterns covered the surrounding surface, and at the center of the door was a massive, complex crest—likely some kind of emblem.
Its presence was so majestic and solemn that everyone instinctively fell into a brief trance.
“Out of all these areas, only this door has a crest like this. There’s definitely something major behind it,” said Gongsun Wuwei, first to snap out of it. He clicked his tongue in awe and immediately went to push the door.
“It’s heavy...” he frowned. His push didn’t budge it an inch.
He took a deep breath, his chest swelling, then punched the door hard—only to see a ripple of light flash across it, as if the door had completely absorbed his attack.
Yet, the door didn’t move at all.
Refusing to believe it, Gongsun Wuwei stepped back two paces, closed his eyes—and ten seconds later, struck again.
This punch was terrifying. The air pressure alone caused by the swing sent gusts roaring down the corridor.
Jiang Zuo almost lost his footing and was stunned by the sheer force.
What stunned him even more: that punch had zero effect on the metal door.
Gongsun Wuwei scowled, glanced at Gong Fanxing, and shook his head. “That was 80% of my power.”
“This door is that tough... There must be something incredible behind it.” Gong Fanxing pressed his hand on the door. “This is it... Wuwei, let’s attack it together with full force!”
“Alright!” Gongsun Wuwei agreed without hesitation.
Just then, both their expressions suddenly changed—they leapt away at the exact same moment!
The thick metal floor they had just stood on cracked sharply—straight, clean breaks. In the next instant, the whole panel dropped away!
And from the gap below—a figure burst upward!
Both Gong Fanxing and Gongsun Wuwei reacted instantly: one with a punch, the other with a palm strike—slamming into the person who had just leapt out.
BOOM—!!!
Gongsun Wuwei’s fist hit the figure’s chest, while Gong Fanxing’s palm struck their back—at the exact same moment.
Jiang Zuo stared wide-eyed. The person who emerged was a much younger man than himself, wearing a plain gray scarf. Despite taking a heavy hit from both terrifying powerhouses, his face just flushed slightly.
“Damn!! That hurt like hell!” The young man gasped, then flexed his body with a shake—
And blasted both attackers backward!
Gong Fanxing and Gongsun Wuwei were both shocked—neither strike had been full force, more of a test, but still... This man had tanked both and managed to knock them back?
That level of power...!
Only Taibai back in the day could’ve done that…
“Who are you?” Gongsun Wuwei asked coldly, fully locking his gaze and aura onto the young man—only to feel like he was sinking into a bottomless abyss. Even his brow twitched instinctively.
The young man rubbed his chest, exhaled slowly, then glanced behind and at the youth holding a metal dog. “You’re Jiang Zuo, right?”
“Me… me?” Jiang Zuo froze, swallowed nervously. He had no idea what connection he might have to this powerhouse who just ate a double attack. Instinctively, he blurted, “Senior… you know me?”
In this place, calling everyone “senior” seemed the safest bet.
“I don’t know you. But Old Master Baijie does,” said the young man—Da Zhe. “Look, they’re up.”
As he stepped aside, two more figures leapt up from the gap—it was Daoist Baijie and Huang Baifu!
If Hanyang Zhenren’s team was the “survivor squad,” then Da Zhe’s group was clearly the “rescue squad”!
No doubt—it really was Daoist Baijie!
The moment Jiang Zuo saw the leader of the Divine Land Daoist World, he couldn’t help getting emotional—Baijie was the only reliable senior he’d met throughout this whole nightmare!
“President!! Daoist Baijie! I finally found you!!” Jiang Zuo’s voice trembled with emotion.
Daoist Baijie looked at the unharmed Jiang Zuo and smiled warmly. “You’re a lucky one… It’s alright now. I’ll take you out of here right away.”
“Thank goodness!!” Jiang Zuo was so overjoyed he immediately dropped the metal dog in his arms.
This place was way too dangerous!
Even Jiang Zuo didn’t know how a Daoist rookie like him had survived this long.
As for the dropped metal dog—Tai Yinzi—he just lay there like a corpse, refusing to move. Inside, his soul was collapsing!
From the young man in the scarf, he sensed something very familiar—no doubt, the aura of his organization, his base, the club!
He was so excited he almost wanted to shout out his identity.
He’d heard from the club’s black-hearted maid that a new recruit had joined after him. Judging by appearance, this scarfed guy had to be that newcomer.
Which meant... his boss was here?! Incredible!!
But before he could shout anything, fate played a cruel trick on him—Wang Hu was the next one to climb up behind!!
He’ll kill me!! He’ll really kill me… If I take a punch from Wang Hu now, I won’t just be bruised—I’ll be dead for real!
I can’t reveal my identity! I can’t even make a sound!!!
I’m already a dead dog!
