Chapter 912: I Have a Special Way of Interrogation
In a vertical spiral staircase, an intense chase was unfolding.
A shadow moved stealthily in the darkness, while Mr. Blind's ancient bronze sword continually hovered in front of it. Although called blind, Mr. Blind did not lack methods to "observe."
Amid the chaotic pursuit, a loud noise suddenly echoed from below the spiral staircase, seemingly from the treasure vault. Mr. Blind frowned.
He had considered that the strange shadow might be a mere distraction. However, he trusted that Song Haoran and Song San, even if they encountered danger, could hold out for some time.
There was a power within Song Haoran that even made Mr. Blind wary. It was the very reason he had told Grandpa Song that he wouldn’t take Song Haoran as a disciple. Despite his talent for cultivating Mr. Blind's technique, this power in Song Haoran made him hesitant.
Yet the noise suggested the situation was more dire than he had anticipated. Mr. Blind decided to strike and, if the shadow escaped again, he would return immediately.
He split his bronze sword into seven beams of light. With a flick of his finger, the beams darted toward the wall. The first missed the shadow, but the remaining six hit different spots. The beams connected, forming a pattern reminiscent of the Big Dipper constellation.
The area illuminated by the seven beams became a cage, instantly trapping the shadow. Despite its struggles, it couldn’t break free. Mr. Blind snorted, formed a sword gesture with his fingers, and pointed forward again.
A muffled groan came from the darkness. Bloodstains appeared on the wall, and a figure dropped onto the stairs.
The seven beams encircled the fallen figure, crackling with lightning. The figure tried to rise but was hit by the electric light, letting out another pained cry.Mr. Blind approached swiftly and asked, "Why did you deliberately lure me out? What’s your goal?"
With the sword light flashing, the figure became clearer. It was a woman, clutching her shoulder where blood seeped between her fingers from where she had been stabbed.
Her hair obscured half of her face, and blood trickled from the corner of her mouth. She turned away, refusing to speak, only letting out a cold snort.
"A woman?" Mr. Blind frowned. "You're not human."
The woman remained silent. Mr. Blind pondered for a moment, then retrieved a small wooden sword from his sleeve and flicked it toward her.
The sword entered her body, but she felt no pain, only a sensation of something foreign entering her.
Glancing down, she suddenly looked up in terror.
"I can hear the source of your power," Mr. Blind said coolly. "It seems to come from your heart… You must be of the vampire kind. The heart is your greatest weakness. The sword I’ve implanted hovers over your heart, and with a single thought, it will pierce through it."
The woman gritted her teeth but still turned away defiantly.
The sword not only controlled her life but severed her power source, making her feel weak. Even her natural ability to heal had been blocked, and her injuries throbbed with intense pain.
"Follow me," Mr. Blind commanded as he turned.
The seven beams merged back into the bronze sword, which spun in the air before returning to Mr. Blind’s side.
The woman reluctantly stood, struggling to follow the powerful man. Since there were extraordinary beings like the thirteen clans and the Magician's Association, it meant that the world was home to many supernatural entities.
...
Examining his arm, Song Haoran watched as his golden limb slowly returned to its normal state. He breathed a sigh of relief as the mysterious power within him finally subsided.
This power, beyond his control, only appeared in moments of great danger to protect him.
Song Haoran glanced at the "Sun God Emblem" he wore and whispered, "Inti..."
There was no response to his call. Shaking his head, he quickly gathered his equipment. As he shone his flashlight ahead, he noticed the small spiders were retreating, signaling the crisis was over.
He retrieved his handgun and used the flashlight to shoot at the strands of web suspending people, aiming not to sever the webs, but to break them where they attached to the rocks.
It took considerable effort, but he managed to lower each person safely to the ground. However, he couldn’t figure out how to cut the webs binding them.
As Song Haoran pondered, he heard faint footsteps. Turning around, he saw Mr. Blind emerging from the vault.
"Thank goodness!" Song Haoran exclaimed with a bright smile.
...
Mr. Blind had already severed the webs binding Lluvia and the others with his bronze sword. After hearing Song Haoran's account of the giant spider, Mr. Blind listened quietly.
Song Haoran explained that he had forced a bomb into the spider’s mouth, making it swallow it before blowing the creature to pieces. It seemed like a straightforward, if crude, method for an ordinary person to deal with a monster.
However, after hearing this explanation, Mr. Blind "looked" at Song Haoran, despite his eyes being closed. Song Haoran couldn’t help but feel as if he were being watched, making him uncomfortable.
"Young Master is truly fortunate," Mr. Blind said calmly. "As the saying goes, 'surviving great peril brings great fortune.'"
"Haha... That's good to hear." Song Haoran forced a laugh, then asked with concern, "How are they? Are they in any danger?"
"From their pulse, there’s no threat to their lives," Mr. Blind replied. "It seems the spiders injected them with a neurotoxin that caused paralysis and unconsciousness. Feed them this and see if it helps."
Mr. Blind retrieved a small porcelain bottle from his pocket.
There was a saying that had been passed down in the village: anything produced by Mr. Blind was guaranteed to be of the highest quality. Overjoyed, Song Haoran received the item and immediately began feeding it to everyone.
"By the way, sir, who is this woman?" Song Haoran asked, eyeing the woman who had arrived with Mr. Blind.
She was injured but remained cold and silent, never speaking.
"She’s likely a vampire," Mr. Blind said calmly. "I believe her power is the ability to turn herself into a shadow, making her good at hiding."
Song Haoran immediately became alert.
Mr. Blind added, "Her power is sealed, so she poses no threat for now. However, she’s quite stubborn and likely won't speak easily."
Song Haoran suddenly asked, "Sir, are you saying she’s completely powerless to resist right now?"
Mr. Blind nodded.
A wicked smile spread across Song Haoran's face. "Then, may I take her and ask her some questions myself?"
Mr. Blind hesitated but then nodded in agreement. The woman was entirely under his control; her life or death was in his hands, so there was no danger.
Song Haoran whistled as he approached the woman, sizing her up. She stared back without flinching, even when he got close enough to almost touch her.
He lifted her chin like a flirtatious rogue and asked, "What’s your name, miss?"
The woman remained silent. Song Haoran repeated the question in several different languages, finally using Arabic, which caused her to frown slightly.
Song Haoran, observing her closely, realized she understood Arabic. He continued, "You know, there are many ways for a man to make a woman talk..."
She finally spoke, sneering, "Do you dare? I’m a vampire. Aren’t you afraid I’ll bite you and turn you into a monster?"
"You don’t know about something called a gag, do you?" Song Haoran taunted.
His fingers brushed her earlobe as he continued softly, "I know a few sheikhs with some rather strange hobbies... like training beautiful women as pets."
Her expression wavered slightly, betraying a hint of panic.
Not far away, Mr. Blind, though nearly blind, had excellent hearing. He shook his head in disapproval... Song Haoran had many good qualities, but he was undeniably a bit depraved.
Mr. Blind sat down and meditated, pretending not to hear anything. Having entrusted the captive to Song Haoran, he wasn’t going to interfere further. As a powerful figure, he had the pride not to involve himself in such matters.
Seeing the panic in the woman’s eyes, Song Haoran said, "Ah, being powerless is such a wonderful thing. I love it when I can do whatever I want."
He looked her over with a predatory gaze, walking in circles around her, occasionally brushing her body with his fingers.
Unable to bear it any longer, she scoffed, "Is this the only way you can feel superior, by preying on the helpless? How pathetic."
"No, no, it’s not about power," Song Haoran replied.
Suddenly, he grabbed her shoulders from behind, pulling her close with a sinister smile. "It’s about the thrill of being able to do whatever I want to you while you can do nothing to stop me... I think I should get you a special outfit. What do you think? What material should we use to make a tail that feels just like a dog’s?"
Her eyes filled with even more confusion.
Song Haoran’s fingers traced down her spine, his voice laced with malice. "You know, tails can actually be inserted into people. And there’s a perfect place for one... like right here."
His fingers had reached the spot between her lower back and hips, still tracing downward.
"Gloria!" she blurted out a name in desperation, but she couldn’t see the triumphant smile on Song Haoran’s face behind her.
"And your purpose?" he whispered in her ear.
His fingers paused but didn’t withdraw, still resting between her hips.
Gloria clenched her jaw, refusing to speak. But Song Haoran remained patient, suddenly saying, "Oh, by the way, I have a personal preference. I like bald women. Looking at your long hair makes me want to shave it off... What do you think about me posting a picture of your bald head on YouTube? A bald head, huh?"
"I’m an investigator! I came here to investigate the castle! We suspect that some unruly vampires are behind this!" She blurted out everything in one breath.
At this point, Mr. Blind raised his head and asked, "Are you a member of the Thirteen Clans Monitoring Agency?"
Gloria could only nod.
Mr. Blind then said, "Song Haoran, let her go. We’ve learned what we needed."
Although surprised, Song Haoran didn’t argue. He released Gloria and stepped back.
But just before leaving, he lightly slapped her behind and chuckled, "What a pity."
Gloria shuddered, her skin crawling at the thought of bald heads and tails.
Song Haoran was about to ask Mr. Blind more about the Thirteen Clans when suddenly a faint hissing sound interrupted them.
It turned out to be a radio that had fallen to the ground.
Song Haoran picked it up and heard the voice of Song Da, "Third brother, third brother, young master? Young master?"
"Song Da, I hear you," Song Haoran responded.
Song Da said, "Young master, after clearing several waves of zombies, we found what seems to be a laboratory. But it’s been heavily damaged. We only found one intact hard drive; everything else is destroyed... Should we keep exploring?"
Song Haoran thought for a moment and asked, "Did you find any survivors?"
Although it had been days, and they were in a zombie-infested labyrinth, survival seemed unlikely. But he asked anyway.
"No survivors."
Song Haoran nodded and glanced at Gloria, who was listening closely. He suddenly said, "Understood. Return to the original route. The mission is canceled."
Though Lluvia and the others had taken Mr. Blind’s pills, they hadn’t improved. They needed to be moved immediately, and that was how Song Haoran decided.
Mr. Blind had no objections.
Soon after, Song Da and the others returned. After some discussion, they all began to leave. Before departing, Mr. Blind set up a protective barrier around the treasure vault. Song Haoran’s family could return later to retrieve its contents.
Thus, the exploration came to an end, with Song Haoran bringing back a female vampire—Gloria.
