Chapter 861: The Fool Disappears Where the Sun Rises

Chapter 861: The Fool Disappears Where the Sun Rises

There are a total of seventy-nine demons lurking in this city—of course, these demons are not entirely pure; many of them are offspring born from the union of demons and humans.

Just as heaven accepts devout believers, hell also has demons tempting humans toward their downfall.

Charlotte possesses the command of the Queen of Hell., and sitting upon one of the Thrones of Hell, Lucifer's call to demons is naturally not a hollow one.

After the Magpie occupied the 'White Hell' bar, Charlotte had her demons quickly excavate a considerable space below the bar.

In the dead of night, when the light of the stars and the moon ruled over the dark side of the earth, Charlotte stood at the center of this vast underground space.

She held her crystal ball in both hands, and beneath her feet lay circles formed with strange characters. To outsiders, these patterns appeared as a complex magical array that looked incredibly cool.

At this moment, the demons gathered outside stepped forward to the outermost circle, cutting their wrists or slashing their chests to pour their blood into this circle.

Each demon had to offer at least half of their blood, as commanded by Charlotte—most of a demon's life and power comes from blood. Collectinh half of their blood equals harvesting almost half of their life.

This was an unbearable loss for any demon. They had no idea how long it would take to replenish this consumption, but there was no doubt they could not resist Charlotte's orders.

After all, she had reached the secret treasure of the Hell Queen, accessing the throne power of Pride, one of the Seven Kings of Hell.Despite their reluctance, each demon, or demon offspring, orderly presented their blood—through this blood sacrifice, they could call upon the throne of hell and the power of Pride.

Charlotte intended to use the throne's power to enhance her divination abilities—she truly felt that the two transcenders were utterly unreliable.

In fact, Charlotte knew well that her divinations often yielded contrary results—so she prepared accordingly based on the opposite of her divination results.

At worst, after this matter concluded, she could kill all the informed demons to safeguard her reputation… Self-deceiving? I am a demon after all!

An ever-growing power began to surge into Charlotte's body due to the blood sacrifice, serving as the source of strength for her ultimate divination technique.

“Still not enough… give me some more blood! Whoever is slow will be fed to Cerberus!”

Charlotte did not only have one three-headed dog; in fact, she had another named Qiaoqiao.

It was better to feel a bit weaker than to become food for the three-headed dog Qiaoqiao. Demons are creatures that are very adept at weighing pros and cons; they are powerful yet timid, and their cunning and greedy nature is intertwined with cowardice.

A female demon at this moment appeared pale, enduring the pain as she cut her wrist once more—being a descendant of a succubus, she had half human blood in her veins, and this blood sacrifice was truly draining her life away.

Fortunately, she had always worked as a model, having abundant male resources… half-human and half-demon, she was now considering how many male guests she should find after the ritual to replenish her losses.

The football player she had just met not long ago seemed quite good; not only was he handsome, but he was also very strong and should be able to support her for a while… Perhaps due to her succubus bloodline acting up, she suddenly felt a wave of heat rising in her body.

Strange, it seemed as if what she was seeing had suddenly been cut apart?

This half-human, half-demon succubus did not realize that her vision was splitting merely because her body had suddenly been severed in half, each half collapsing—she did not understand why this happened, as she had completely died in that instant.

The severed body was now emitting thick black smoke as if burned by something, and in the blink of an eye, only a pile of ashes remained on the ground.

This sudden change made the surrounding demons grow ferocious; they dared to tear apart anyone who dared to intrude—however, after a few seconds, the demons' ferocity gave way to fear. They saw their most formidable enemy in fate—the angels from heaven.

Not just any angel, but a high-ranking angel, a seraphim with six wings.

Each feather on the outstretched wings of the seraphim contained a divine power that was exceedingly unbearable for demons—moreover, this was one of the peaks of the angelic hierarchy.

The left hand of God… the angel of death, Gabriel!

“This is… the left hand of God! How could she appear here!”

Quickly, an ancient demon recognized the origin of this impossibly beautiful angel—of course, demons were more aware that angels are inherently genderless. However, having long lived in the human realm, they had become accustomed to classifying such beauty as feminine.

Under normal circumstances, even if a male were this beautiful, some lustful demons would still be interested.

Even without a reproductive system due to lacking gender, or even without an excretory system since they didn’t need to eat, there were still those wonderful lips that could speak divine words!

(Note: Any hole would do, they say)

“I will cleanse all evil here!”

Gabriel simply stated—though the ‘Father’ had directed him to search for the fallen Morning Star in a monastery to the east, she could not ignore the assembly of so many demons first.

In fact, it wouldn’t take him much time to sweep away the demons here.

A vast holy light instantly illuminated the entire underground layer; under the radiance of one of the angels closest to God, some of the weaker demons could not even withstand three seconds before being transformed into thick smoke, purified by the holy light.

The remaining demons were struggling fiercely, and several succubi emitted sharp cries to release their fear.

“God says that the filthy evil will ultimately vanish.” Gabriel waved his hand, and a beam of holy light transformed into a cross sword in his grip, effortlessly slicing through a demon's body as he strolled into the bloodstained circles.

At this moment, Charlotte was inwardly anxious during the crucial moment of the ultimate divination technique; she could only direct the demons that could still resist under the holy light to charge at this left hand of God.

“Ridiculous! Whether it’s the Bible or historical records, there is no such saying!” Charlotte quickly retorted, “Stop saying ‘God says’ every time you attack demons; are you not tired of it!”

“Annoying!” Gabriel coldly huffed and suddenly swung the holy cross sword in his hand.

Charlotte was now sweating profusely, straining her eyes to fixate on her crystal ball; vaguely, she could already sense a slight response from the crystal ball… just a little bit more!

However, at that moment, Gabriel suddenly raised the holy cross sword high, and in an instant, the brilliance of the holy light in the underground layer intensified tenfold.

The demons turned to ashes under the holy light as if the sun had descended, leaving only Charlotte painfully holding on—yet, Charlotte’s pale skin had already developed cracks.

Her body resembled shattered tempered glass, looking exceedingly frightening.

A piercing, miserable scream echoed through the air.

At the same time, Gabriel, who was still releasing his holy light, frowned. With a cold snort, he waved his hand and shot out the Holy Light Cross Sword.

Not long after, when everything calmed down, only the ashes of countless dead demons remained on the ground. Gabriel looked around but couldn't find the female demon standing in the center holding a crystal ball, nor did the Holy Light Cross Sword he had shot remain.

“What a troublesome group, these transcendents,” Gabriel muttered.

He waved his hand, erasing the large circles Charlotte had inscribed on the ground to prevent humans from discovering them one day. Gabriel knew that humans were too adept at learning and creating. Centuries ago, some exceptionally clever humans had mastered powers that weren’t theirs from the remnants of battles between angels and demons, eventually naming it magic.

After erasing all traces, Gabriel quickly left this murky place, heading eastward.

...

Charlotte felt her body rolling, as if tumbling down a hillside.

When she raised her head to look around, she realized that it was dim everywhere, resembling an endless void. She found herself on a small, barren hill floating in this empty world.

She heard faint noises. Turning her head, the first thing she saw was golden curls of hair — she recognized immediately who those golden curls belonged to.

Wolfgang.

Wolfgang, who was also lying on the ground, struggled to stand up. Only then did Charlotte notice a large wound on Wolfgang's shoulder, as if pierced by something, with blood flowing incessantly.

“It’s you!” Charlotte couldn’t help but cry out in surprise.

Wolfgang grimaced in pain, clutching his shoulder. “The Left Hand of God... truly terrifying as one of Heaven's mightiest forces. A single, simple blow... Charlotte, are you okay?”

“I think your condition is worse,” Charlotte frowned as she stood up. “Why did you save me?”

Wolfgang, seemingly in less pain, slowly stood up as well. “Because I still hope Lord Lucifer can become part of our Dimensional Rift. Besides, I’m also very interested in the results of your divination, Charlotte... You must have received some revelation, right?”

“Is this the Dimensional Rift?” Charlotte asked, surveying her surroundings with a frown.

Wolfgang replied, “Not quite the true Rift, only the outer edges, a buffer zone where we travel between the Main Worlds. But as you can see, it’s desolate, with no signs of life, and the concept of time here is extremely blurry.”

Charlotte nodded, opening her palm and looking at her crystal ball. As Wolfgang had said, she had endured to the end, nearly perishing, but her effort had not been in vain—she had indeed obtained the result of her divination.

“The Fool disappears where the sun rises,” Charlotte murmured.

“Where the sun rises?” Wolfgang mused. “So, Lord Lucifer is in the east, the direction we should be heading?”

Unexpectedly, Charlotte shook her head. “No! We search west.”

“Why west? Isn’t that the opposite of the divination?” Wolfgang asked, confused.

“Just trust me,” Charlotte said coldly.

Wolfgang shrugged. He had his own plans. Noah's identity among the transcendents was unique. This time, he had secretly brought Noah out without telling many people, but Noah had been immediately captured by Heaven — a fact Wolfgang hadn’t shared with the other transcendents of the Dimensional Rift's Paradise Lost.

He wasn’t ready to return just yet... at least not until he could try convincing Lucifer.

“Very well, Miss Charlotte,” Wolfgang smiled. “I assume now you won’t refuse to accompany me?”

“I’ll come, but can you take off that wig? And those white stockings?” Charlotte suddenly demanded.

“W-Why?”

“Disgusting!”

In truth, that style was trendy in their era!

...

...

The business car left the city and entered a countryside area.

Once outside the modern city, they could see more of the original landscape. After all, this was a city with hundreds of years of history, where efforts had been made to preserve the old cultural elements.

The harvest season had arrived, and Luo Qiu watched with interest as grape-picking machines worked through the fields. Song Ying, however, kept glancing at him out of the corner of her eye.

“Is there something on my face?” Luo Qiu asked curiously, turning to look at Song Ying.

“I’m looking at the weather, not you. Don’t flatter yourself,” Song Ying snorted and crossed her left leg over her right, staring out the other side of the car window.

The spacious car allowed enough distance between passengers, yet Song Ying still rolled down her window, saying she needed fresh air.

“You seem anxious. Is something bothering you?” Luo Qiu asked casually, rolling down his own window a bit.

Song Ying replied offhandedly, “Nothing, just that an incredibly annoying person is coming. We might see them later... This wine tasting event hosted by gambling god Tu Shenyi might not go so smoothly.”

“A particularly annoying person?” Luo Qiu mused.

Suddenly, Song Ying seemed to remember something, and she glanced at Luo Qiu, looking him up and down. Then, abruptly, she leaned forward, placing her hands on his shoulders. “I don’t need you to carry my bags anymore.”

Luo Qiu blinked.

Song Ying grinned mischievously. “I’ll introduce you to a top-tier beauty!”

Seeing Luo Qiu’s confusion, Song Ying secretly laughed to herself: Zhong Luoyue, Zhong Luoyue... I wonder if you can deal with him?

Let’s see if your pride can hold up!

"Sometimes, the path to truth is found by trusting instincts, even when they defy logic."
