Chapter 995 972: Got Into a Fight with the Mafia

The two of them chatted as they walked into the house.

Ren Feng glanced inside and saw Bai Wanqi standing in front of a map, hands clasped behind his back as he studied it, while Bai Baichuan was sitting on the sofa to the side, seemingly reading a newspaper.

From the kitchen, waves of delicious smells drifted out; Bai Xiaoyue's mother, Pei Qiuliu, was busy cooking.

Bai Xiaoyue led Ren Feng over to Bai Wanqi and called out crisply, "Dad."

Bai Wanqi turned around, saw Ren Feng carrying things, and said mildly, "What are you bringing stuff for?"

"It's my first official visit, so I just casually bought some tea and such. I hope Mr. Bai will like it."

"I don't buy into that."

"I know, but Mr. Bai, this isn't a subordinate giving a gift to his superior, it's a son-in-law-to-be giving a gift to his future father-in-law."

"Alright, Dad, just accept it." Bai Xiaoyue hugged his arm and shook it at the side.

"Fine, put it over there, and sit down in a bit." Bai Wanqi said calmly.

Ren Feng sat down on the sofa. Seeing Bai Baichuan looking over, he couldn't help giving a small smile.

Bai Baichuan also came and sat down. "Ren Feng, where are you planning to go after you're done with this matter?"

"I'll go to Tianfu for a bit. It's close by, and I've got some things to handle." Ren Feng said. "Oh right, will Xiaoyue still be staying in the Southwest Military Region?"

"My dad kept me here. He wants me to help handle some military region affairs for a while, to give me some training and room to grow." Bai Xiaoyue pouted, her tone full of resentment. "I might not be able to go to Jiangnan City until next year."

Ren Feng said with a smile, "It's fine. This is a good thing for you. From now on your career in the army will be smooth sailing. When you get transferred to Jiangnan City then, won't everything be set?"

"You're the smart one, Feng." Bai Xiaoyue sat leaning against Ren Feng. Not far away, Bai Wanqi glanced over but didn't say anything.

"Xiaoyue, about the Xiong Family, did they say anything?" Ren Feng asked.

"Mr. Xiong is a reasonable man. Naturally they'll support Xiaoyue in pursuing her happiness. And Xiong Hao has also given up on chasing Xiaoyue; he took the initiative to apply to join Dragon Group and plans to go to the Middle East for training." Bai Baichuan said. "But the relationship between the Bai Family and the Xiong Family is still a bit chilly. It'll take time to mend."

"Alright, lunch is ready."

Pei Qiuliu said with a smile as she carried dishes out from the kitchen and put them on the dining table.

This lunch was just Bai Xiaoyue's family plus Ren Feng. Of course, Ren Feng hardly counted as an outsider anymore.

They all sat around the dining table. Bai Wanqi took the main seat, with Pei Qiuliu sitting beside him.

She looked at Ren Feng and said with a smile, "You're Ren Feng?"

"Yes, Auntie." Ren Feng replied respectfully.

"Relax, no need to be so stiff. We'll all be one family from now on." Pei Qiuliu said with a smile. "Eat more."

"Thank you, Auntie."

Bai Wanqi tapped the table with his chopsticks. "Alright, let's eat."

Everyone picked up their chopsticks and started eating. Bai Xiaoyue picked up a piece of meat and put it into Ren Feng's bowl.

"Feng, eat this, my mom makes it really well."

Ren Feng nodded.

Bai Xiaoyue then picked up another dish. "This one's good too."

Bai Wanqi watched Bai Xiaoyue, his chopsticks frozen in midair. Seeing this, Bai Baichuan immediately picked up a dish and put it into Bai Wanqi's bowl.

"Dad, have some of this."

Bai Xiaoyue realized what she'd done, stuck out her tongue, and quickly picked some food and put it into Bai Wanqi's bowl as well.

"Dad, you eat, too."

Pei Qiuliu said, half laughing, half exasperated, "Alright, you two… Your dad won't hold it against you. Just eat."

They finished lunch in a warm, cheerful atmosphere. Only after this meal did the knot in Ren Feng's heart finally relax—things with Bai Xiaoyue were officially settled.

After eating, Ren Feng and Bai Xiaoyue walked together through the military district.

Along the way, the new recruits were still in training. When the assessments come in the first half of next year, whether they demobilize or stay on as elites will all be decided in these few days.

"One, two, three, four!"

The recruits shouted loudly as they ran past the two, neat and orderly. The weather was very cold, and each of them was breathing out thick white clouds.

Arm in arm, Ren Feng and Bai Xiaoyue walked along the road. Bai Xiaoyue said, "Feng, when are you planning to leave?"

"Probably in the next few days." Ren Feng said with a smile.

Disappointment filled Bai Xiaoyue's little face.

"Relax, I'll stay with you first, then leave when it's time." Ren Feng gently stroked her cheek.

"Then let's go into the city and have some fun?" Bai Xiaoyue's eyes sparkled.

"Sure, whatever you want."

For the next three days, Ren Feng stayed with Bai Xiaoyue, going around to almost all the scenic spots in the city.

After three days, it was time for Ren Feng to leave.

"Feng."

Bai Xiaoyue's eyes were full of reluctance.

"Alright, Xiaoyue, next year when you apply to be transferred to Jiangnan City, I'll keep you company every day, okay?"

"Mm." Bai Xiaoyue looked at Ren Feng. "You have to wait for me."

"Don't worry." Ren Feng gave a small smile.

The car window slowly rolled up and the car headed for the airport. Through the window, Ren Feng could still see Bai Xiaoyue standing there.

Only when she was out of sight did Ren Feng finally turn back around.

The car drove toward the airport, and an hour later, Ren Feng arrived there again.

After getting out, he checked the time on his ticket. There was still a while to go, so he took out his newly bought phone and dialed a number.

"This is a street in the red-light district in Germany. What kind of girl do you want? We've got mature ones, young ones—"

"Enough, it's me." Ren Feng cut off Black Dragon. "Help me restore this number, and give me Eleven's number too."

"Got it, boss, give me ten minutes." Black Dragon chuckled on the other end; just from his voice you could hear the sleaziness.

"Boss, you haven't contacted us for ages. Do you know our Wind God Hall just fought an earth-shattering battle? We've really made a name for Wind God Hall this time."

Ren Feng frowned slightly. "What happened?"

"Uh, nothing major, just a little brawl with the Mafia." Black Dragon snickered.

"Alright, hurry up and restore my numbers. I'll ask Catherine about it later."

He hung up. Not long after, Black Dragon sent a text—the job was done.

Ren Feng restarted his phone. When he checked, Catherine and the others' numbers had already been restored in his contacts. He directly dialed Catherine's number.

"Catherine, it's me." Ren Feng said in a deep voice. "What's the situation with Wind God Hall lately?"

"Nothing major for the moment, but we did have some friction with the Mafia. We expanded a bit fast and ended up in a fight."
