Chapter 8: Fate
Chapter 8: Fate
"Aunt Uesugi, you're right! Could your granddaughter stay at my house? She's a good girl, and I'd feel at ease if she lived with Saki."
A relieved smile appeared on Hime no Kiyomichi's face. With this arrangement, her daughter should be able to study at home without worry during the holiday.
When Keiko Inoue's car reached 4-chome, it encountered a long red light. Under the cover of night, cars from all directions converged there, and while waiting, Kazukazu Yamazaki yawned.
"He Feng, you're sleepy."
"No. But it was a really tiring day, thank you Keiko-neechan."
"You're welcome. You got this job through your own hard work. Speaking of which, I'm a little curious. Don't you usually go home to take care of the family business during your holidays? Why did you stay in Tokyo this summer?"
Yamazaki Kazuka explained the whole story.
"I see. So, to test your survival skills, your aunt and uncle stopped giving you living expenses?"
"Yes, they still hope that after experiencing the hardships of life in Tokyo, I can return to Hokkaido."
"So, what are your thoughts on this, Kaze?"
"I need some time to think about this. My hometown doesn't even have a decent school, and older and younger students are mixed in the same class. There are all sorts of other inconveniences that Keiko, who lives in Tokyo, can't even imagine."
There's a saying in Japan: "Everywhere outside of Tokyo is the countryside." Yamazaki Kazufu, who has been to Kyoto, agrees that this is true.
Staying in Tokyo allows me to enjoy the conveniences of a big city, while returning to my hometown means living a simple and leisurely life.
If I go back, what would be the point of all my efforts over the years?
As expected, I still prefer to stay in Tokyo, build my own career here, and hopefully buy a house like the Himeno family's in the future.
"Although I can't imagine what it would be like for upper and lower grades to have classes together, I think it would be quite lively."
"We all get along really well, but it's so boring."
"He Feng, how much money do you have left?"
"Sister Huizi, I've already paid my rent."
"That's not what I meant. Kaze, if you don't have money, your daily living expenses and attendance fees can be quite high. I remember your salary is paid once a week, right?"
"Yes."
"In that case, why don't you come to my house for breakfast tomorrow? I'll take you to the Himeno's house while I'm at it."
"Wouldn't this be too much trouble for you?"
"It's no trouble at all. Qingxue and I often go to the gardening association together, and the distance from our house to Hime's house is quite long. I'll pick you up and drop you off at get off work, which will make things much more convenient for you."
"Thank you so much, Sister Huizi."
"It's alright, my brother was taken care of by you before."
In high school, Keiko Inoue's younger brother, Jiro Inoue, was classmates with Kazufu Yamazaki. Jiro Inoue was not good at speaking and was very introverted, always keeping things to himself.
Inoue Jiro was a poor student and extremely withdrawn. Besides his family, he had only one friend, Yamazaki Kazufu.
Jiro is a good person, but he is introverted. Not long after they met, he gave Yamazaki Kazukazu a newly released PS5, and the two played games together online in their spare time.
One day at noon, after learning that there were several Street Fighter enthusiasts in his class, Yamazaki Kazufu decided to introduce them to Inoue Jiro.
Yamazaki Kazuka arrived at Inoue Jiro's class but couldn't find him. After searching for a while, he found him in the restroom with a lunchbox in his hand.
Inoue Jiro became a target of bullying at school, and at one point he had to go to the toilet stall to eat lunch in peace.
Upon learning of this, Yamazaki Kazuka told the Inoue family about Inoue Jiro's ordeal, but the Inoue family did not take it seriously.
Inoue Jiro remained tight-lipped about his experiences at school, leading his parents to mistakenly believe that their son simply hadn't made any friends there. They then asked Yamazaki Kazuka to take extra care of him.
One day after school, Yamazaki Kazuka didn't see Inoue Jiro. After making some inquiries, he learned that Inoue Jiro had been bullied in the equipment room during gym class.
Upon learning the news, Yamazaki Kazuka first climbed onto the window of the equipment room and recorded a video with his mobile phone as evidence, then rushed into the equipment room to rescue Inoue Jiro.
The incident escalated due to serious violent clashes during the rescue operation, and the bully was eventually dismissed.
Considering that Jiro Inoue was no longer able to socialize normally at school, his parents arranged for him to study in England.
Yamazaki Kazufu thought it was not a good decision because Inoue Jiro's personality was not suitable for living in a foreign country.
But this was a family matter for the Inoue family, so Yamazaki Kazuka didn't say anything and accepted the Inoue family's gift of gratitude without any qualms. The rent was halved and the utilities were waived.
From that time on, Keiko Inoue took extra care of Kazuka Yamazaki, often bringing him food.
"Sister Keiko, how is Jiro doing in England?"
"Hasn't he contacted you?"
"He kept in touch with me when he first arrived in the UK, but after university, we lost contact."
"That guy! He's asking his family for money every month now, and the amounts are getting bigger and bigger."
"After all, the cost of living in the UK is high, and he's also at the age where he needs to find a job and start dating."
"If only he could be as sensible as you, Kaze."
Keiko Inoue gets a headache every time she talks about her younger brother. When the light turns green, she steps on the gas and drives home.
After arriving home, Yamazaki Kazukaze, who was taking a shower, heard a cell phone ringing outside the bathroom.
"Senior Anhe, is there something you need?"
"Hey Kaze, how's your research proposal coming along? Have you decided on a topic yet?"
An Heliang was a senior student I met in the university library. After I got to university, I developed a habit of sticking to one spot and not moving around.
During non-exam weeks, there are still seats available in the University of Tokyo library. Therefore, I can sit in the same spot in the library every day.
Anhe Liang, the senior student, was sitting opposite her. Soon, they both realized that they were studying the same major.
At that time, Anhe Liang wrote a research proposal for her postgraduate entrance examination. The topic was the education situation in remote areas. Yamazaki Kazukazu from a remote area provided her with first-hand information.
The two formed a friendship, and after entering the research institute of a well-known professor in the field of education, An and Ryo naturally introduced Yamazaki Kazuka to that professor.
In Japan, in addition to written and oral exams, you can also get a pre-approval offer from a professor.
In order to obtain the contract, Yamazaki Kazuka must first write a research proposal for the professor to review. Only after the professor approves the research proposal can he receive the contract.
"Senior Anhe, I've run into a bit of trouble. The research proposal will probably have to be postponed a little."
"What's wrong?"
Yamazaki Kazuka could only tell An and Ryo about what had happened to him.
"Isn't this a good idea? Your current students are your research subjects. I've already thought of a topic for you: Avoidant Academic Behavior."
"Your idea is brilliant, senior!"
"Write your research proposal in this direction and give it to me before October. I'll help you revise it and then send it to Professor Kato for review."
"yes!"
You sound quite energetic. I'll come see you in a few days.
"Senior Anhe, are you coming?"
"What? You're not welcome?"
"No, no, you're very welcome. Just let me know before you come, I have classes during the day."
"no problem."
