Chapter 230: Beneath The Falling Stars
Chapter 230: Beneath The Falling Stars
>>Val
I was completely engrossed in the meteor shower, marveling at the way the stars seemed to slide down from the heavens, as if they were reaching out to touch us. The light from the meteors flickered across Pen’s face, highlighting the soft curve of her cheeks and the gentle sparkle in her eyes. She looked beautiful, her features illuminated by the celestial display, and I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of contentment just being here with her.
But then, out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of something unusual. Pen was staring at me, her gaze fixed with a kind of intensity that caught me off guard. I turned to look at her, curious about what was on her mind, but as soon as our eyes met, she quickly looked away. Her cheeks flushed slightly, and she seemed to be suddenly absorbed in the falling stars.
The moment of hesitation left me puzzled. Why had she been looking at me like that? I couldn’t help but replay the scene in my mind. There was something in the way she had looked at me—something that felt more than just casual curiosity. It was as if she had been grappling with a thought or a feeling she wasn’t ready to share.
I tried to focus on the meteors again, but my thoughts kept drifting back to Pen. Was there something bothering her? Or was there something she wanted to say but didn’t know how? The way she had quickly averted her gaze made me wonder if she was hiding something from me.
Now I know I might be getting ahead of myself but I wonder if she feels the same way I do
I kept looking at her and she noticed.
She gave me a soft side eye but I didn’t avert my gaze. So she turned her head to look at me
"Why are you staring at me?" She asked
"You were staring at me first." I replied softly
We looked at each other
>>Pen
"You didn’t notice that there were a few girls who were looking at you."
"What?" He was astonished, "No, I mean. You’re the one who didn’t notice all the guys who were trying to get close to you!"
"Liar,"
"I’m not lying."
I stared at him, "Well no one approached me."
"Because I kept them away!" He said
"And why did you do that?"
!!!
It was dark but I definitely saw his flushed cheeks
"Ah, um" He was trying to avoid my gaze, "Well, I could ask you the same thing," He said softly, and then his gaze finally came onto me.
My face flushed up
We both looked at each other awkwardly
What do I say? That I was jealous and didn’t let anyone near him?
We kept looking at each other
Or do I lie?
My heart was drumming. But if I lie and he thinks I don’t have feelings for him, won’t be get married to someone else?
Everyone always says he’d make a great husband
He has to be me my husband!
"Val," I scooted closer to him
"Yes?" He kept his eyes on me
"I don’t like it when other girls try to get close to you."
He was surprised by my words, then he gulped
"Why?"
I gulped
It’s time.
I let out a soft breath, "Because I like you." I said, "I like you so much!"
The flush on Val’s cheeks got deeper
He was stunned
"Val?"
His gaze dropped. I noticed his ears were red too
"Me too," He whispered. It was only loud enough for me to hear it. He then raised his head, "I like you a lot too, Pen"
!!!
My heart jumped in Glee
That moment was a moment of pure Bliss
I couldn’t help it. I jumped ahead and hugged val
"Really?" I wrapped my arms around him
"Really," He hugged me back
With our bodies joined together, I could hear his racing heart
And I was sure he could hear mine.
I didn’t want to let him go.
"Val," But I had to talk to him so I pulled away
"Yes?" When I looked at his face again, I had a sudden urge to join my lips with his
"Promise me," I brought my pinky finger out, "You’ll marry me when we turn sixteen."
Sixteen was the age the country allowed for marriage
Val stared at my finger
Is he hesitating?
He slowly brought his pinky up and intertwined it with mine
"If I could," He looked a little said, "I would marry you right away."
!!!
My heart skipped a beat violently
God! Help me
Val paused, his pursed his lower lip shyly and his cheeks went red. But he nodded, his ears red as he extended he intertwined his pinky with mine
"Promise," He said, then looked straight at me, "You’ll promise to be my bride?"
"Promise," I smiled, my cheeks and ears flushed as well

Penny was possessive.
Anyone could see that. But she was possessive of me, and to be very honest, I liked that. For me who had no other family left, Pen wanted to be with me.
She wanted to become my family and she would go around saying, ’I’m gonna be the best wife in the world, just watch!’
We both had pretty much declared we were getting married as soon as we both were sixteen.
Pen and I talked to her parents about it. I was super nervous about it but both of them were happy for us and they agreed right away.
All that was left was to turn sixteen.
Or that’s what we all thought.

Don’t get confused guys. This is more like a bonus story. You’ll understand what this is about by the end. I already had this one written. So I just timered it here. My initial plan was to post it separately but then I thought people don’t really go and search for a separate short book, so I published it here.
