Chapter 754 - 754 754 Can't Get Out
754: Chapter 754: Can’t Get Out 754: Chapter 754: Can’t Get Out If any anomaly occurred tonight, something might sneak into this room.
It would definitely target Zhuo Hang, who slept closer to the outside of the bed.
But because he was undying, Su Hui felt relieved enough to fall asleep.
“You’ve thought this through.” Given this, Zhuo Hang went ahead and closed his eyes.
Just at this moment, Su Hui rolled over, with her arm landing on Zhuo Hang’s body, causing him to blurt out, “Your sleeping posture is terrible.”
“What did you just say?
I heard it all,” Su Hui abruptly said, startling Zhuo Hang.
“Weren’t you asleep?”
Here’s how Su Hui responded, “It’s simple.
I woke up in the middle of the night.
What’s the fuss?
Look at you, freaking out.”
“What?” Zhuo Hang was about to say something when he saw Su Hui gesture for him to be quiet, which instantly made his heart grow tight.
They heard it.
There was a disturbance outside, as if something was approaching.
Su Hui and Zhuo Hang immediately tensed.
However, after waiting for a long time and seeing nothing enter the room, Zhuo Hang and Su Hui decided to no longer wait.
They got up, pushed open the room’s door, and went outside to check, but they saw nothing.
Su Hui frowned before saying, “Let’s go out and take a look.”
“Alright!” Zhuo Hang nodded in agreement, and the two of them walked outside.
The streets were desolate with all the red lanterns dimmed.
It was dark all around.
The wind had picked up considerably and grew chilly, carrying an unsettling feeling.
Su Hui was alert and carefully observing their surroundings.
It was then that Zhuo Hang asked, “Have you noticed anything strange?”
Su Hui was about to answer when she heard bells jingling from the other end of the street.
The sound was getting louder as it moved closer.
“Are they coming?” Su Hui and Zhuo Hang went on high alert.
They began to retreat, hoping to follow their previous path back.
At least they intended to understand their escape route before facing any unknown risks.
But as they went around the streets of the old town, Su Hui and Zhuo Hang realized they couldn’t seem to find a way out.
It was as if they were trapped in a strange maze.
They walked and walked, only to see familiar sights as if they had returned to their starting point.
“Oh, my god, isn’t this the house we stayed in before?” Zhuo Hang pointed at a nearby building, and Su Hui confirmed it was indeed the same.
Su Hui was positive she’d kept moving forward; the street was curved, so it was unlikely she could have walked back to the starting point.
Yet, they had somehow returned to the original place.
Logically, this shouldn’t have happened.
The stranger the situation, the more it suggested that this was the place they were looking for.
The missing people must be related to this ancient town.
Naturally, Su Hui and Zhuo Hang did not give up easily.
They continued to move forward without turning back, but eventually found themselves back at the starting point, again.
“We seem to be trapped.” Barely had Zhuo Hang finished speaking when the jingling bells sounded again.
It instantly tensed Zhuo Hang and Su Hui.
They turned back to see many masked figures dancing towards them.
These figures wore strange costumes and masks, hopping and jumping in a peculiar dance, as if performing a ritual.
Zhuo Hang and Su Hui watched these figures growing closer, unsure of what to do.
The group edged closer, and they took steps back.
But then they realized there was another group behind them – they were surrounded from both ends of the street.
With nowhere to flee and two groups of people closing in from either direction, Zhuo Hang was anxious.
He clutched Su Hui’s hand.
Both groups of people began moving, dancing, and converging from all sides.
They formed a circle around Zhuo Hang and Su Hui.
The rhythm of the dance grew more vigorous as if they were in a state of ecstasy.
Suddenly, the crowd let out a massive yell, as if they had reached a peak of excitement.
They wanted to let it all out, and it was the signal to attack.
“Here they come!” As the crowd charged, Zhuo Hang threw a powerful punch and a kick, sending them all flying.
He then gave an additional kick to whomever it might hit.
Su Hui was equally formidable, swinging a stick to strike those who came too close, knocking them over, one by one.
“Let’s go!” Zhuo Hang grabbed Su Hui, and they both quickly fled.
However, out of fear, Su Hui glanced back.
She found that none of them were chasing after them.
In fact, they all seemed to have disappeared.
Su Hui felt disoriented.
She had a feeling that leaving this place wouldn’t be easy.
As expected, Zhuo Hang and Su Hui didn’t get far before they found themselves back where they started.
The exasperation was overwhelming.
Were they just wasting their energy?
The worst part was the annoying sound of jingling bells again.
After hearing it, Zhuo Hang and Su Hui could only shake their heads and let out a bitter laugh.
“Here they come again!”
A large number of people appeared from both ends of the street.
They hopped and jumped, wearing the same strange costumes, masks, and performing the familiar bizarre dance.
They even made weird shouting noises.
“Not again.” This time, Zhuo Hang didn’t wait.
He moved to attack, punching and kicking, knocking people down.
He went all out, tearing several of them apart with his bare hands, just to keep them from causing any more trouble.
However, the biggest problem remained unsolved.
Zhuo Hang and Su Hui were still unable to escape.
No matter how slow or fast they walked, or whatever direction they chose, they always returned to the same place.
“Are you kidding me?
What’s going on?” Zhuo Hang couldn’t help but grumble.
After a careful observation, Su Hui exclaimed in surprise, “Zhuo Hang, you tore them apart earlier.
There should be a pool of blood on the ground, but there’s nothing.
Why?”
Zhuo Hang also noticed this.
It was peculiar.
He had torn several people apart, there should have been blood everywhere, but now it appeared as if nothing had happened.
Upon this, Su Hui speculated, “Maybe we didn’t return to the original place, but arrived at a place that looks similar.”
Zhuo Hang shook his head, “No, we’re just going around in circles.
Someone manipulated this street, so we can’t leave no matter what.
We have to find a way to break free.” After saying this, Zhuo Hang looked back at the house they’d previously stayed in and said, “Let’s go in and drag the old man out for some answers.”
Good plan.
Immediately, Su Hui and Zhuo Hang re-entered the house.
They opened all the doors, and combed through the entire place, but they couldn’t find the old man anywhere.
“Who would’ve thought the old man could run so fast.” Zhuo Hang stroked his chin thoughtfully, wondering how they could escape.
Then it struck Su Hui; if the front door of the house led to the interminable street, what about the back door?
