752: Chapter 752: Forge ahead 752: Chapter 752: Forge ahead “No way, we’ve really encountered it, Shi Hao your silly fortune-telling system actually works.” After saying that, Su Hui took a deep breath and then glanced at Zhuo Hang, suggesting we should go and take a look.

But Zhuo Hang opposed, “We’d better wait until everyone is here before we go.

Just the two of us might not be able to handle all unexpected situations.”

Liu Hui’s voice came from the phone, “Yes, Su Hui, don’t act impulsively, wait until we get there.”

“Wait for you?” Su Hui frowned, then watched the lights flicker in the woods, at times brightening and again dimming.

Su Hui put her hands in her pockets and stared at the flickering lights in the woods, feeling the chill in the wind.

She weighed her options and then said, “If we wait for the others to come and all the lights are out, then what?

Won’t it be a waste of time, or maybe there’s no chance later.”

Zhuo Hang understood Su Hui’s concern of the lights going out when Liu Hui, Yan Bing, Hu Hu, and Shi Hao arrived, thinking it was a setup by Zhuo Hang and Su Hui, and that’s why they may never show up again whenever Su Hui and Zhuo Hang are around.

“You make a good point, but it’s just your guess.” As soon as Zhuo Hang finished speaking, the lights in the forest went out.

He waited for a while, but the lights did not come back on.

It seemed like when the lights failed to draw Su Hui and Zhuo Hang over, they simply gave up.

Su Hui’s face darkened: “What do we do, should we take a peek, without actually approaching it?”

Zhuo Hang nodded in agreement and added, “Just a few steps forward, don’t run around, and obey my command.”

“Okay!” Su Hui agreed instantly, but Zhuo Hang was still worried.

The two moved towards the direction where the light had vanished, following the highway.

As they walked, the darkness in the woods was once again illuminated by the light.

Seeming to pause for a moment, Su Hui quickened her pace.

As she moved forward she noticed a small path seemingly leading to where the light was.

Zhuo Hang instantly went on guard and carefully said, “Su Hui, wait patiently for the others, and we’ll move together.”

At first, Su Hui obeyed Zhuo Hang’s order, but after waiting a while and with no one else arriving, she estimated it would take more time.

Frustratingly at that moment, the light went out again.

Both Su Hui and Zhuo Hang’s hearts sank, fearing that the light went out because it discovered something amiss, and thus it may not shine again tonight.

Su Hui took a daring step onto the small path.

Concerned for Su Hui’s safety, Zhuo Hang followed her.

“Hey, where are you guys now?” Zhuo Hang called the others on his phone, only to discover that their cars had all broken down, and they were on their way over on foot.

“You cannot be serious, all the cars broke down.” A chill ran down Zhuo Hang’s spine, foreboding something is not right.

Su Hui remained focused on the dark little path and then said, “We can’t just stand here and wait, since we’ve come, we have to check it out.”

Zhuo Hang knew very well in his heart that waiting for the others to arrive on foot could take an undetermined amount of time.

However, the eeriness of this place was giving even the immortal Zhuo Hang the chills.

Su Hui bravely took a few more steps forward, walking into the small path.

The lights lit up again as though it was welcoming Su Hui.

Taking a deep breath, Zhuo Hang decided to step into this place too.

As Su Hui had said, perhaps if they missed this opportunity, there might not be a next one.

Su Hui and Zhuo Hang kept an eye on that light, walking carefully, their hearts jumping up and down.

Despite having seen many grand scenes, facing the unknown, they were still a bit scared, fearing that they might encounter something that they could not handle.

Gradually, Su Hui and Zhuo Hang arrived at the entrance of the ancient town.

Seeing red lanterns hung in each household on both sides of the street, but not a single person on the street.

Even some mist was visible.

Su Hui and Zhuo Hang both knew that if they approached, it would mean that they are going to face unpredictable dangers.

However, they were here to investigate, so they couldn’t turn back.

They had to check it out.

“Let’s go.” Having said that, Su Hui took a step forward, walking into the ancient town.

Zhuo Hang naturally couldn’t lag behind, he hurried to catch up to Su Hui and walked alongside her.

The street was deserted with only the faint whistle of the wind.

After walking for a long time, they still didn’t see a single person, only the red lanterns hanging on the buildings on both sides of the street swaying in the cold wind.

The moving human shadows in the lantern light made Zhuo Hang and Su Hui somewhat uneasy.

Zhuo Hang moved closer to Su Hui, trying again to hold Su Hui’s hand.

Just as he was about to touch it, Su Hui turned around to check the back and found nothing unusual and continued walking.

Zhuo Hang missed his chance again, feeling a pang of regret.

Su Hui looked at the buildings on both sides of the street and said, “These buildings are very ancient.

I’ve visited many old towns, but none of them have buildings like this.

It looks like they’ve been passed down from over five hundred years ago.”

Zhuo Hang nodded, “Indeed, I have been alive for so long, buildings this old are quite rare now.

Moreover, there aren’t any old towns around this area.

It’s really puzzling how this place just appeared out of nowhere.”

“Exactly!

This place is so weird, all the lights are on, but there’s not a soul in sight.

It wouldn’t be planning a sudden attack, would it?” Su Hui and Zhuo Hang treaded carefully, even Su Hui, brave as she was, knocked on the door, but no one answered.

So Su Hui had a proposal: “Shall I try kicking the door?”

Zhuo Hang counter-questioned, “Forget it, what if the house belongs to protected historical architecture and you are asked to pay for the damages, can you afford it?”

Su Hui gave it a thought and realized she couldn’t afford it, therefore, she withdrew her previous suggestion.

The two advanced a bit further, and heard music and dancing noises.

Their hearts tightened, sensing something was about to happen.

But the two did not back down; instead, they quickened their pace.

At this moment, Zhuo Hang remembered something.

He dialed Liu Hui’s number only to find bad reception and no one answered.

Feeling uneasy, Zhuo Hang tried calling Yan Bing, Hu Hu, and Shi Hao, but none of his calls got through.

Su Hui also tried making a call but found that her phone wasn’t working either.

She immediately stopped along with Zhuo Hang, discussing what they should do next.

Zhuo Hang proposed, “Before we can make contact with the others, it’s best we not act recklessly, to avoid falling into someone’s trap.”

“I agree, maybe it’s best not to move forward for now, just wait and see.” Su Hui too started feeling fearful and for some reason, she wished Gu Fan was here with her at this moment.

At this moment, a voice sounded from behind them, “You two are guests from outside town, aren’t you?”
