Chapter 258 - 54: Solutions and Displaying Talent

Dragon Pool.

"Regarding food at the present..."

Standing over three meters tall, Shiji stood before the towering Black Giant Dragon, slightly bowing his head as he reported on the current predicament of the Black Wing Nest.

After a while, Shiji summed up, saying,

"Master, the current food sources of the Black Wing Nest are roughly divided into three parts: First, regular crop farming; second, breeding and livestock; third, acquiring mid-low level creatures from the Otherworld using Monster Summoning Technique.

Among the three, the first two are abundant, mainly supplying ordinary monsters and most Dragon Descendant monsters, while the last one, although lesser in quantity, exceeds in quality, primarily serving the Black Castle Dragon Clan, maids, guards, and elite Dragon Descendant monsters.

Of course, aside from these three, there are other channels for obtaining food, such as the river beasts and Fish People corpses transported from the wasteland Laputa River and waterways, and also, the free adventurers of the Black Wing Nest hunt outside and sell any surplus cheaply to the Dragon Nest."

Currently, the Black Wing Nest is divided into core forces and peripheral forces.

The core forces consist of the Black Castle Dragon Clan, maids, guards, and the Black Wing Legion established centering around Shiji and other followers.

They represent the might and authority of the Black Wing Nest, totaling no more than ten thousand in number.

These followers are the most fervent supporters of the Black Wing Nest and the Black Dragon Lord; their food and rewards are provided by the Black Wing Nest.

The Black Nest peripheral forces are composed of two parts: one part is ordinary monsters scattered in the Dark Forest, weak and acting as cannon fodder and low producers.

The other part is monsters yearning for freedom and those with talent, yet not enough to be included in the core of the Black Wing Nest; they’ve developed all kinds of professions.

For instance, adventurer groups, hunting groups, opening taverns, material shops, joining Charming Street, working hard outside...

The monsters of peripheral forces (including humans, dragon-blooded humans) are self-sufficient, not requiring the Dragon Nest to worry or be responsible for them.

Of course, this is in normal circumstances; if a food crisis occurs in the Dragon Nest or during warfare, they still need to be concerned, or if cannon fodder monster armies need to be assembled, they must be held accountable for their food as well...

Through Shiji’s detailed narration, Udi gained a rough understanding of the current predicament of the Dragon Nest.

And Shiji also proposed methods to resolve the predicament.

"War, divert the food crisis to the outside; this way, some monsters can be consumed while plundering external food and wealth to achieve a sort of balance," Shiji suggested.

Besides this proposal, Shiji had a second suggestion, he pondered and said,

"Among spells, there are types like Plant Acceleration Skill, Plant Mutation Technique, Rapid Flesh Growth, etc. Currently, most Dragon Vein Mages of the Dragon Nest lack strong talent; even if they study hard for ten or twenty years, they’d at most reach the level of Mid-level Mage, while cultivating a Mid-Level Monster Warrior consumes far fewer resources and time than doing so for a Mid-level Mage....

I think, rather than this, it’s better to let these untalented Dragon Vein Mages abandon learning combat magic, and focus wholeheartedly on logistics and territorial development types of magic, to build a solid rear for the Dragon Nest.

Furthermore, if we wage war, our Dragon Nest should also try to capture mid-low level casters of opposing forces. Those who agree to submit can serve our Dragon Nest. Those who don’t agree will be enslaved, forced to serve in construction for us."

Having managed the Dragon Nest for twenty years, from the initial dozens of Kobold tribes to the current monster realm numbering eight or nine million, Shiji’s experience is certainly unique.

In fact, over the years, Shiji had already been experimenting with this second method within some Dragon Vein Mages, and the results were evidently good.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been possible to develop so swiftly in just a few years; although monsters are strong and possess great constitution, the vastness of the Dark Forest wouldn’t allow such rapid construction in just a few years.

To achieve such high efficiency, casters played at least half the role! Casters are the ’infrastructure machines’ of the Otherworld.

For Shiji’s proposal, Udi expressed his approval, feeling both methods were good.

"The caster reform in the second proposal will follow your plan, and you will fully be in charge. As for the first proposal, to wage war...." Udi thought for a moment, analyzing,

"North of the Dark Forest is the Forest Elf ally, further north there are various alien realms and human realms, gradually reaching the Central Region of the continent; presently, the Central Region is fighting fiercely with the Crimson Nest, and our Black Nest forces need to avoid confronting them.

East of the Dark Forest is the Yalbit Kingdom, Centaurs, Dark Nest, Sha Hua Fishman’s sphere of influence; it’s chaotic like a big brawl, and the situation there has reached a peculiar balance, making it difficult to intervene.

South of the Dark Forest is the Kas Duchy, some wild alien races, and mid-small free forces; further south is the South Sea Territory.... West of the Dark Forest directly connects to the sea, also part of the South Sea Territory..."

After a round of analysis, the situation became clear.

And for waging war, the best breakthrough points..... there are only two!

The vast, resource-rich South Sea nearby sea domain.

And the Kas Duchy along with its surrounding mid-small forces.
