Chapter 185 - 27: Dragonling’s Growth; Reversed Knight; Rock Dragon’s Allegiance (10k-word - ) (Part 6)
"Still nearby." Udi sniffed the air slightly; the familiar scent of the Rock Dragon was still strong.
Following the scent, Udi walked openly through the forest, appearing from a distance like a black-scaled giant beast roaming the land.
With a terrifying weight of tens of thousands of tons, each step Udi took left a deep pit.
Tiny creatures sensed this commotion and fled in terror.
Several kilometers away, the Rock Dragon, asleep by the river, slowly opened its moss-covered eyelids and looked in the direction of the Black Giant Dragon.
"It’s this guy again," the Rock Dragon sighed, slowly getting up from the ground, shaking and stretching its thirty-meter-long, rugged gray-brown rock dragon body.
It felt like it had just closed its eyes after the last fight, and now that it opened them again, it was time to fight again.
Soon, in the Rock Dragon’s cloudy giant eyes, a black giant dragon of a terrifying size came through the distant forest. The giant trees in its path that it brushed against were half destroyed, and those directly in its route were casually snapped by its claws, crashing heavily down with dust flying everywhere.
Their eyes met.
The Rock Dragon was somewhat bewildered, thinking it remembered incorrectly. It clearly remembered that the last time the Black Dragon came, its size was slightly smaller than its own; how was it now a whole circle larger?
If not for the identical aura, the Rock Dragon would have suspected that the Black Dragon in front of it was the father of the previous Black Dragon.
"What a freak," the Rock Dragon shook its head, too lazy to think deeply. For a sub-dragon like it, nearing the end of its life, almost nothing could pique its interest. It said to the Black Giant Dragon opposite,
"Little one, why are you here again? Do you want to fight again?"
Boom!
Udi casually pushed aside the giant tree blocking its way, looked at the Rock Dragon, and grinned, answering irrelevantly,
"Old fella, how about becoming this king’s subordinate?"
The Rock Dragon drooped its thick rock eyelids, not getting angry because Udi called it ’old fella’. To be honest, if last time Udi had mentioned wanting to fight in advance rather than crashing down from the sky, it wouldn’t have been angered.
"I’m almost dying of old age; what do you want me to do? All this old fella wants now is to sleep." The Rock Dragon spoke lazily.
"You should still have at least a hundred years of life left, right? That’s not short. Do you want to just sleep until you die?" Udi asked curiously.
"If possible, that’s not out of the question," the Rock Dragon answered honestly.
"What a waste," Udi said.
"Indeed," the Rock Dragon agreed deeply.
Udi fell silent.
In this situation, Udi felt that even if he beat the Rock Dragon to death, the other would most likely not care.
Creatures at the end of their lifespan usually either go to extremes, using various means to prolong life, or remain at peace, living one day at a time.
Evidently, the Rock Dragon belonged to the latter. This old fella had lived for a thousand years already.
"Are we going to fight or not? If not, I’m going back to sleep," the Rock Dragon reminded.
Looking at the lazy old Rock Dragon before him, Udi suddenly lost the desire to fight... yet he still wished to subdue it.
So, he made a final attempt.
"Do you want to break through to Legendary?"
"Don’t ask elders that kind of pointless question," the Rock Dragon muttered, seeing the young black dragon’s eyes growing increasingly dangerous, it added, "Of course I do, who wouldn’t? But the chances for me to break through to Legendary are almost zero... if you’re thinking of saying you can help me do it, I’d advise you to drop the idea, it’s useless..."
Udi ignored it and said directly, "I’ll give you a chance to break through to Legendary. You sign a contract with me, work for me... for a thousand years."
If the Rock Dragon could break through to Legendary, its lifespan could increase by at least two thousand years, so dedicating a thousand years was quite worthwhile.
The Rock Dragon eyed Udi, thinking of asking if it was a scam, but seeing the seriousness in the other’s expression, and remembering its extraordinarily increased size, it pondered for a long while, then said,
"Can I ask whether your breakthrough method is normal? Are there any side effects? I really don’t want to become a Witch Demon Dragon or an Undead Dragon."
"There are side effects, that is, you’ll eat more," Udi replied.
"Just eat more?" The Rock Dragon was surprised. What kind of side effect is that?
"If what you’re saying is true, then I agree." After considering for a while, the Rock Dragon nodded.
Living longer is surely a good thing.
That means it can sleep longer.
This particular race of rock dragons has a unique sleep experience, allowing them to enjoy more wonderful sensations in sleep than other races.
During sleep, the rock dragon’s body naturally absorbs the essence of the earth, and in this process, its consciousness remains relatively clear, able to experience the miraculous pleasure.
In many material planes of the Star Realm, some rock dragons can sleep for hundreds of years at a stretch, dying in sleep, with their bodies becoming the essence of the earth veins, merging into the earth, and many years later, they are likely to give birth to elemental mineral veins at that spot.
Thus, Udi and the Rock Dragon known as ’Pakgyotis’ signed a contract.
The witness was — the Platinum Dragon God, Bahamut. As a cost, Udi consumed a fairly good quality elemental crystal. This was the price to have Bahamut as a witness, as well as an offering. Divine power is not something easily borrowed.
As for choosing Bahamut? Because this Dragon God is the God of Good Dragons, and has reliable credibility. Naturally, the price for witnessing a contract is also fair.
Moreover, as one of the most powerful Dragon Gods, even Evil Dragons respect Him for His wisdom and power... except for the Five-Colored Dragon Queen.
As the contract was established, somewhere deep within a mysterious galactic nebula of the Star Realm, a faint and indifferent gaze was cast. This was Bahamut, in concept as a Dragon God, not His physical form sending the gaze.
Soon, the power of the Dragon God faded, which also meant the contract was established between both parties.
If anyone wished to break this contract, the only way would be to become so powerful that Bahamut would be forced to step back.
The Rock Dragon ’Pakgyotis’ looked at Udi.
The latter directly manipulated the dragon blood within his body to surge forth.
"Absorb this blood."
Pakgyotis hesitated for a moment, thought of the contract, and finally gulped the blood in one go, then continued to look at Udi.
"That’s it. From now on, just keep eating and eating," Udi answered in response to the Rock Dragon’s gaze.
Pakgyotis: "....."
