Chapter 158 - 20: Dragon Egg Thief; Blazing Lion
Chapter 158 - 20: Dragon Egg Thief; Blazing Lion
A giant door of white light quickly appeared in the palace, and Udi stepped into it without hesitation, carrying the dragon eggs lifted by the Mage’s Hand.
In the next moment, Udi appeared in the Black Castle, more than two thousand kilometers away.
After the successful traversal via the Any Gate, a portion of Udi’s magic power was consumed out of thin air. The further the distance of the Any Gate traversal, the more magic power is consumed, and now the single leap of over two thousand kilometers used up a considerable amount of magic power for Udi.
Only at this moment did Udi have time to examine these dragon eggs, and upon close inspection, his expression changed slightly.
On the five dragon eggs, there were very subtle traces of magical aura, which Udi was quite familiar with since he had learned a certain magic—Zero-Ring Illusion: Secret Rune.
Although it’s merely an illusion magic, even legendary powerhouses frequently use it due to its practicality.
As long as the caster’s magical mastery is high enough, this spell is very difficult for other casters to detect, and even if discovered, a caster with lower magical mastery will find it challenging to eliminate the aura completely.
The Secret Rune is a type of marking magic, possessing no power, where the caster uses superior magical mastery techniques to leave their aura on an object, enabling them to sense it even from afar.
Udi attempted to remove or destroy the Secret Rune, and managed to break it with ease, but the residual aura clung like a bone-devouring worm, almost fusing with the dragon egg. To completely eradicate these traces, the dragon egg itself would have to be destroyed.
After struggling for a while, Udi gave up.
His magical mastery obviously fell far short of the Lady of the Dark Forest.
"In that case, it’s time for a fight." Udi’s mood gradually calmed.
It happened that he hadn’t had a proper fight with a suitably powerful opponent for a long time. The last serious conflict was more than a year ago with the Rock Dragon, but then, what seemed like a fierce battle was actually a mere test from both sides, neither going all out.
Meanwhile, in a dense forest over ten thousand kilometers away, a twenty-meter-long adult Green Dragon was battling with a top-level lion-type demon.
The adult Green Dragon continuously spewed poisonous breath from its mouth while various spells attacked the fiery red lion-type demon, which was not to be outdone, its entire body ablaze with golden red fire of terrifying temperature, swiping its lion claws faster than lightning, shredding and dissolving all spells thrown at it.
The battle was extremely intense, though it was apparent that as it continued, the Fire Lion gradually started to fall behind.
"Kurt, you are no match for me. I’ll give you another chance—submit to me." The Green Dragon’s poisonous breath remained uninterrupted, and various spell attacks unleashed as if draining no magic power at all.
"Submit? Utter nonsense! Our Blazing Lion clan will never submit to an evil dragon!" Kurt, burning with golden red flames, scoffed coldly, continuing to block the spell bombardment akin to a storm, while seeking an opportunity to counterattack.
Running away was not an option; Marina not only could fly but also use teleportation skills.
Kurt felt the ever-increasing toxic buildup within him, growing more anxious, and with a lion’s roar, a terrifying ring of flames spread rapidly from his beastly body, turning everything it touched into ash.
This was the Blazing Lion clan’s most fearsome spell-like ability—the Burning Ash Fire Ring.
In almost an instant, several kilometers of dense forest were reduced to black ashes under the ring’s dreadful might.
Marina was forced into the sky to avoid this terrifying spell-like attack, a flash of apprehension in her eyes.
Kurt stood on the scorching ground, his eyes, gold-red like molten lava, glaring at the Green Dragon in the sky, a flash of agitated anger in them as he roared,
"Marina, get lost!"
"Get lost?" Marina laughed in anger. Although she was wary of the Blazing Lion’s abilities, it didn’t mean she was afraid.
"Kurt, if you’re seeking death, I will oblige." Marina snorted coldly, beginning to chant a complex incantation.
Tremendous magical and elemental powers gathered in the sky.
On the ashen, fiery ground, the massive lion, ablaze with golden red flames, tensed its muscles as it sensed itself being locked onto by a spell yet to be unleashed, unable to flee, resigning to withstand it!
Just as the storm powers gathered in the sky, and the weather turned from bright sunlight to a dusky gloom, the Green Dragon abruptly halted her casting, a look of shock and anger flashing in her enchanting green gemstone eyes.
In the bewilderment of the Blazing Lion Kurt, a giant door of white light appeared before the Green Dragon, and then it vanished through it.
"What does this mean? Is it some kind of plot?" Kurt was puzzled, but eager to seize the opportunity to escape from the Green Dragon’s clutches, he didn’t dwell on it. In a few leaps, he vanished from the scene.
The perspective shifts as the Green Dragon passes through the Any Gate, returning directly to its Dragon Nest Territory.
Marina gazed at the shattered barrier and the palace of spells fully annihilated in the Dragon Nest, letting out a scream,
"My treasure!"
A green shadow flickered as Marina rushed to the depths of the Dragon Nest Palace.
She immediately checked her treasure, panicking as she saw the scattered pieces everywhere, hastily counting to see if anything was missing.
