Chapter 41 : The Demon Lord and the Divine Sovereign
The Demon Lord and the Divine Sovereign
"By the way, master, is your body alright?"
Aili put away the map on the table and asked.
Ever since she killed someone last night, Yinhua's mental state had been unstable, and she had been vomiting and having diarrhea constantly.
"Did something happen to me? I feel pretty good."
After speaking, Yinhua even spun around once.
"But weren't you still..."
Zhixi hesitated, unable to finish her sentence.
"Last night? Didn't I go to bed early last night?"
"Uh..."
Everyone was at a loss for words.
'So was it Yinhua who was killing then, or was it Her Highness?' Odin wondered.
"By the way, Yinhua, you said this bow was given to you by Her Highness. Are you able to communicate with her at any time now?"
"No."
Yinhua shook her head. "She's always the one who initiates contact. I still haven't found a way to reach her myself."
"I see."
Odin sighed, then turned to Aili and said, "There shouldn't be anything valuable here, right? Then let's hurry up and go. When the dogs bite you, it'll be too late. Don't count on me to help you."
"Mm, you go ahead. I'll handle things here and catch up."
Aili tossed the map in her hand to Zhixi.
"Then we'll go on ahead."
While Yinhua looked back with reluctance, Zhixi waved her hand to bid farewell to Aili.
"It's not like we won't see each other again. Don't act like it's a farewell for life or death."
"Mm."
Yinhua nodded obediently and then followed the other two out the door.

In the capital's shopping street just a few hundred meters from Yinhua's home, Yuexing Beichen followed the guidance of Demon Blade here.
"How much further?"
Yuexing Beichen asked.
"Within 500 meters from here."
Demon Blade answered confidently.
All of a sudden—"Boom!"—Flames erupted from a building. Both Demon Blade and Beichen turned their gazes toward it.
"That's that guy's demonic power, without a doubt."
Demon Blade laughed as she spoke.
"That murderer..."
Yuexing Beichen bit his lips, never able to forget what happened that day.
"I told you, this time it's our turn to repay that arrow's grudge!"
With those words, demon Blade vanished in place.
"Yeah."
Yuexing Beichen followed after her.
Residents, bewildered by the explosion, scattered in all directions, except for two figures who moved against the flow.
After reaching Yinhua's residence, demon Blade's eyes first caught sight of Aili, standing amidst the flames.
Without a word, she charged at Aili with her sword drawn.
Aili had not expected to be attacked by someone else at a time like this. She hurriedly drew her dagger and managed to block the attack.
The clash of blade against blade sent a shockwave, causing the flames around them to sway even more intensely.
At the center of the fire stood a battle maniac and a murderer.
Their extraordinary strength shattered the stone tiles under their feet.
Demon Blade's weapon was a longsword, etched with incomprehensible runes.
Aili's weapon, by contrast, was a short dagger. Like an assassin dueling a warrior head-on, Aili knew the odds were against her.
"Who are you?!"
Aili demanded.
"Ah, come to think of it, I guess this really is our first meeting."
Demon Blade replied.
"What's the point of asking? If someone's attacking you, aren't they your enemy—what other identity could they possibly have?"
With that, demon Blade pressed the attack. Her speed was astonishing, and her strength was undiminished. Each sword swing fanned the blaze further.
Aili meant to escape before the fire enclosed her, but Demon Blade's relentless onslaught allowed her no window—she had no angle for retreat, barely enough to defend, and was nearly exhausting herself.
Demonkind physiques differed greatly from humans; the force nearly made Aili's arms go numb.
"If that's all you've got, you might be lying here forever."
The current situation overwhelmingly favored Demon Blade.
"Why did I have to run into such a lunatic?"
Aili muttered.
She'd already completed her task here; all that was left was to retreat and head for the Spirit Forest.
Demon Blade's appearance had nearly destroyed all her planning.
*Clang!* Although Aili blocked one of Demon Blade's blows, she lost her footing and staggered backward.
"Damn it."
Naturally, demon Blade wouldn't let this opportunity slip by. She rushed to Aili, weapon raised, and slashed at her—the strike could have ended the battle.
It should have ended that way.
*Crack!* From above came the sound of space itself shattering. In the next moment, Aili appeared behind Demon Blade, and a thin line of blood appeared on Demon Blade's face.
"Speed acceleration? No, that was spatial movement, wasn't it? Not bad at all. With this kind of ability, you could kill without leaving a trace."
Demon Blade displayed a cruel smile and again rushed forward, as Aili swung her dagger.
"You're not leaving with spatial movement—does that mean you want to kill me?"
Demon Blade's attacks grew fiercer, cracks spreading across Aili's short dagger as it let out a mournful wail.
"Or is your range only that big?!"
Demon Blade suddenly increased her power and—*crack!*—finally, Aili's weapon could take no more and snapped in half.
Aili leapt backward twice, putting distance between them.
"Normal blades can't hurt her. The lines are too obvious by firelight, so..."
Aili tore open the space around her, drawing out a pitch-black demonic spear. It was not the lance of a knight, but a thin, long spear—that seemed breakable but was shrouded in an ominous darkness.
"Oh? Didn't expect a human so close to darkness?"
Demon Blade remarked with interest.
The weapon was etched with Aili's past. If she hadn't met Yinhua, she would still be in hell. But now, she had been redeemed. Whether light or darkness, good or evil—she was no longer confused, nor did she need to be. Her only purpose now was to protect her little master.
"Hyaaaaah!"
Aili suddenly burst forward at Demon Blade, using spatial movement to appear right in front of her. Demon Blade blocked Aili's attack, but this time the force was greater than ever before. Aili leaned close to Demon Blade's face and declared, "The one who should be lying here forever is you!"
*Bang!* Demon Blade's body was sent flying, crashing through several tall buildings before coming to a halt. For once, Aili exceeded her in strength.
*Crash!* Several more buildings collapsed, crushing several residents who had failed to escape in time.
"No one can kill me except Master—not even I can!"
That energy made Demon Blade unconsciously shrink back.
"Your master—is it Wanhua's Yinhua? So that's why you fought so hard to get her back?"
Demon Blade stood up, patting the dust from her clothes. The wounds on her body made it obvious that Aili's last strike had inflicted heavy injuries, though not fatal ones.
"You are—!"
"So, you finally remember. I'm one of the few survivors of the group you intercepted and killed, should I put it that way?"
Demon Blade looked at the ruined surroundings and smiled helplessly.
Wu Yi (7)⑻ BaO started to stack medicine
This time, things seemed a little over the top. She'd come to tear down property in enemy territory.
"Fengren!"
Yuexing Beichen appeared at Demon Blade's side.
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just broke my left hand."
"Wait."
Beichen took out a bag of crystalline powder from his spatial ring and sprinkled it on Demon Blade's left hand. In moments, the broken bone healed.
"This stuff is amazing. Lend me a couple more bags?"
Demon Blade shook her left hand.
"This isn't for you to play with."
Yuexing Beichen rolled his eyes.
"That's the way it is, little girl—now it seems to be 2 against 1."
Demon Blade turned to Aili.
Yuexing Beichen likewise fixed his gaze on Aili. He recognized her at once as the maid who spoke to him at the banquet. Thinking of that ambush in the woods, his anger boiled over.
"Fengren, kill her."
"Yes."
"Tch."
Aili grit her teeth.
Demon Blade raised her sword over her head, runes flashing with a blood-red light. This was likely the greatest power Demon Blade had shown so far.
"Devour the Light."
Demon Blade surged forward, appearing before Aili and slashing down with her massive sword.
Aili raised her spear above her head to block the attack. The force felt like a meteor crashing down—a massive blow—her arms trembled uncontrollably.
"Reverse break."
Suddenly, as Demon Blade pressed down on her, she let go with both hands, leaving her weapon to fall from above. Puzzled by the move, Aili hesitated, and in that instant, something incredible happened: below her, another Demon Blade appeared—identical—caught the falling weapon and slashed at Aili from the left, while the Demon Blade above simultaneously drew a dagger and stabbed at her abdomen.
*Thunk!* The sound of a blade entering flesh. Aili chose to block the greatsword's slash to her left, leaving her abdomen open to the dagger.
Her black-and-white maid uniform was soon stained red with blood. Aili stared in disbelief at the two Demon Blades before her.
"Cough, cough."
She wanted to say something, but only blood came out. Enduring the pain, she pulled the dagger from her abdomen and tossed it aside.
"Ending life."
Demon Blade did not give her time to catch her breath; she again attacked Aili.
Just then, a white spear dropped from the sky, landing between Demon Blade and Aili, halting her attack.
A figure appeared near the spear and pulled it free.
It was Shen Baixue, known as the Supreme Divine Sovereign. Her silver hair and golden eyes made her appear like a Valkyrie blessed by heaven and earth, radiating an overwhelming, awe-inspiring pressure.
Lingxian followed closely behind. Seeing the destruction around them, she glared angrily at the two before her.
"The prince of Yuexing, and his Spirit Companion. The two of you wantonly causing havoc and slaughtering innocents in my imperial capital—am I to take this as Yuexing's declaration of war against us?"
