There’s No Way My Maid Is a Villain

Chapter 30 : Retrospect

Chapter 30 : Retrospect

Retrospect

Even though Zhixi had already leapt away from her original spot as quickly as she could, it was still too late.

From the moment Yinhua launched her attack to now, only a few seconds had passed.

That divine spear lunged forward at a speed invisible to the naked eye. In an instant, mountains collapsed, rivers boiled, and no one could withstand such power.

Nearly seventy percent of all life on the Floating Spirit Continent was wiped out by this single blow.

Those closest—Aili, Shui Cangxuan, Zhixi—weren't even left with ashes.

That should have been the case...

Zhixi knelt on both knees, staring at her body, realizing she was surprisingly unscathed and still alive.

Next to her, Aili and Shui Cangxuan had only fainted; they didn't seem to be in any mortal danger.

Yinhua was still holding Gungnir in her hand, as if she hadn't even thrown it.

"What happened? I... I... Ah..."

Zhixi found she couldn't even form words.

Greedily sucking in air, she felt her undying self had never been so close to death—painless, sensationless, as if she'd simply vanished.

Cold sweat mixed with tears slid down her cheeks, drop by drop to the ground.

At last, regaining some composure, Zhixi tried to make sense of what happened.

That moment wasn't an illusion—the collapsed Aili and Shui Cangxuan were proof. So what had actually happened? Who had saved us?

"Good evening, miss Doll."

Yinhua approached, addressing Zhixi in her native language just as she was still pondering the situation.

Zhixi realized the person before her wasn't the timid, frightened Yinhua, but the real owner of this body: the Gardener of the Creator.

"Good evening, mother."

Zhixi tried to rise but her body wouldn't cooperate. As soon as she stood, she collapsed back to the ground.

"No, no, no. While I did create the method for making combat dolls, that doesn't mean I'm your mother. You can call me Luna, or Yongye Yuan if you prefer."

Luna reached out and helped Zhixi up.

"Then, gardener, may I ask what just happened?"

Zhixi thought carefully. Aside from the people in Moon Pale Court, no one else in all of Yggdonia could address the Gardener by her true name.

"What happened? Weren't you all just trying to test my power? So I gave you a little demonstration, but you're all pathetically weak—you didn't even take the attack head-on. You all vanished from just the residual force. See? She doesn't seem very satisfied."

Luna pointed at the Gungnir behind her, now transformed into four blades.

"And then, I was afraid {I} would get angry, so I rewound time back to one minute ago."

"So, how was that for a taste of death?"

"If you wish to glimpse the secrets of the abyss, you must be prepared for the backlash."

"Since you've already picked up a weapon, how can you do so without the resolve to be killed?"

"That's all."

After finishing, Luna clapped her hands once to signal her speech was over, lifted the hem of her skirt, and hopped in place like a maiden in her prime.

Zhixi trembled as she listened to Luna recount the facts—killing everyone, then reversing time and explaining it to those who should have died—it was like listening to a myth.

Yet Zhixi knew everything had really happened.

She recalled what her former master had once said: "The Gardener may not be the strongest, but she is without a doubt the most mysterious—and the most insane."

"It doesn't seem very kind to call someone insane, now does it?"

Luna, having finished, used spiritual particles to weave a new set of clothes—a black sweater on top, a long white skirt below, a pair of glasses, a measuring tape, and scissors in hand.

"I'm sorry, it's just something my former user once said to me,"

Zhixi apologized immediately, for before the Gardener, she had no way to resist.

'She really can read minds, can't she?'

"I can, you know!"

At some point, Luna appeared behind Zhixi, using her measuring tape as if taking Zhixi's measurements, then snipping open Zhixi's clothes with her scissors.

"What are you doing?"

Zhixi was completely baffled.

"Don't move."

Luna's tone was strict.

"Yes, Ma'am!"

Some time passed.

"Hehe, done!"

Luna giggled as she admired her handiwork.

Before her, Zhixi's silky red hair fluttered in the wind, her blue eyes clear as sky and sea, cherry blossom lips shimmering as if dewdrops could fall, her flawless oval face blushing with shyness, smooth skin glowing delicately, her slender figure clad in a midnight-black dance dress with a blood-red skirt, looking exactly like a fairy from myth.

Well...if you ignored the butterfly bow at the back.

"So, how on earth did you manage to turn a shirt, a jacket, and a pair of long pants into this?"

Zhixi finally couldn't hold it in and exploded. This was just bullying—no matter how powerful you are, this is downright humiliating!

"I'm not humiliating you. Most girls like to look pretty, don't they?"

"But I think it's terribly inconvenient... I'm not used to wearing something like this."

"Ah, right, still missing a touch."

Ignoring Zhixi's comments, Luna undid her clothes all over again, lifted up handfuls of Zhixi's hair, pressed her finger to the hollow of her collarbone, traced her neck, slipped a hand under the fabric, gently kneaded at her navel and armpits.

When she reached the dreadful scars on Zhixi's body, Luna frowned, obviously displeased.

"These really ruin the aesthetic."

She placed her hand atop the scars, and suddenly Zhixi felt as if she was encased in ice.

"I have no idea about healing—but I have my own methods."

Luna lifted her hand. Instantly, a miracle occurred: the scars faded away as if they'd never existed at all.

"No need to be so shocked—it's just a little trick of teasing time."

"Time is the best medicine,"

"And the most lethal poison, too."

"It can grant someone eternal youth,"

"But also make someone age to death in an instant."

"Well, my activity time is almost up. Please take care of {me}."

With that, Luna swayed and collapsed.

Zhixi looked at everything before her—her clothes, her healed body. It all felt like a dream. Slowly, she approached Yinhua's body.

"Gardener of the Creator...huh?"

Suddenly, Luna leapt up in a flash, quicker than lightning!

"AH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I forgot the last thing!"

"What is it?"

"Do you think you'd look better in white stockings, or black ones?"

"I'm quite the perfectionist, you know."

"Say something, will you..."

Hmmm...

So the Forgotten Girl and the Silhouette of Time is related to Yinhua?
