Chapter 84 : Little Thief

“Lorenzo is over here!”

That shout was like lighting a torch in the middle of the night, drawing every gaze toward him.

“Fuck, Lorenzo, hand over the ancient dragon heart’s blood already!”

After a round of rapid fire, Sam quickly reloaded under the cover of his subordinates while roaring at Lorenzo.

Things had already reached this point.

Nothing else mattered anymore.

First, he had to get the ancient dragon heart’s blood.

“Lorenzo!”

On the other side, Schulz smashed a Redfire Gang elite to death with his cane, his face twisted savagely, clearly looking like a man who had already killed himself into a frenzy, and he led his thugs charging forward as well.

No matter who had sparked the initial hatred, once the melee began, the influence of the ancient dragon heart’s blood still left Lorenzo faintly in danger of being besieged from all sides.

Even some restless wild dogs rushed in at this point, and what infuriated him even more was that ever since just now, that drifting shadow had been circling through the crowd around him.

In barely a minute, he had already been struck several times from behind.

Mixed in among those attacks was even a despicable move like a groin kick.

If his magitech armor had not been strong enough, he definitely would have lost something important!

“Damn it!”

Lorenzo was almost bursting with rage.

He shoved the metal container into the hands of the trusted subordinate beside him and said, “Hold this for me first. I am going to drag that despicable bastard out and kill him!”

“Got it!”

His trusted subordinate grinned, baring a set of bright white teeth.

Lorenzo vaguely felt that something was off, but in the middle of the chaos, he did not think much of it and charged into the crowd with his blade.

With Lorenzo’s powerful combat strength joining in, the situation immediately stabilized. Although he still failed to find that despicable bastard, he did carve open a path for his own men.

Nearby, his trusted subordinate kicked away a rat trying to launch a sneak attack, then moved to Lorenzo’s side, panting as he asked,

“Boss, what do we do next?”

“What do we do? Of course we make sure the ancient dragon—”

As he spoke, Lorenzo suddenly stopped.

He stared blankly at his subordinate’s hands and said in a daze,

“Where is the ancient dragon heart’s blood?”

“The ancient dragon heart’s blood?”

His subordinate looked equally blank. “Isn’t it in your hands, boss?”

“Bullshit! I just gave it to you!”

Lorenzo seized his subordinate by the collar and shook him hard.

Looking at that innocent expression, he suddenly seemed to realize something, and his face changed dramatically.

“Damn it, I fell for it!”

He immediately turned his head.

Through the gaps in the crowd, he could vaguely see a lean figure slipping out of the mass like an eel, tearing off the hood from his head in one swift motion before running for it with all his might.

Fast as hell!

“Stop right there!”

Lorenzo’s brain buzzed. He no longer cared about anything else.

Turning on the spot, he rushed back and chased after that frantically fleeing figure.

“Lorenzo, where do you think you are running?!”

At that moment, Schulz led a group of thugs in pursuit as well.

Their bodies were smeared with blood, and they looked as though they had long since lost all reason, lunging savagely at Lorenzo without the slightest regard for the gap in strength between them.

“Damn it, get out of my way!”

A blazing blue light erupted from the magitech armor on Lorenzo’s body.

His speed and strength instantly increased severalfold as he swung a heavy punch and sent the thugs blocking his path flying.

But just as he was about to step forward again, a sudden surge of danger exploded in his heart.

The sound of crossbows being drawn rang out as Sam and a group of his men once again aimed their military repeating crossbows at him.

“Lorenzo, hand over the ancient dragon heart’s blood!”

“Damn it, the ancient dragon heart’s blood is not in my hands! It was stolen!” Lorenzo roared.

“You think I would believe such a clumsy lie?” Sam sneered.

“What kind of thief could possibly steal something from your hands?”

“I would also like to know where that bastard crawled out from, but he really did run off with the ancient dragon heart’s blood!”

“You can save that pathetic lie for the devils in hell!”

Sam did not believe him in the slightest.

The repeating crossbow in his hands was already aimed at Lorenzo.

He refused to believe that the magitech armor was strong enough to withstand volley after volley from his crossbow!

“Damn it!”

Lorenzo was so furious he almost coughed up blood.

He could only mutter under his breath,

“I must ask you to make your move.”

The next moment, the airflow throughout the entire alley began to turn chaotic.

It was as though some invisible force was gradually gathering, and then, beneath a low chant drowned out by all the noise, it suddenly exploded.

With a thunderous boom, everyone instinctively looked up.

A massive fireball rose into the sky like a miniature sun, instantly lighting up the entire street.

“Fuck.”

Staring dumbly up at the fireball, Sam could not help cursing again.

“Lorenzo, you bastard, you actually brought a mage? And you actually dared let that mage use magic so openly? Aren’t you afraid of bringing the guard squad down on us?”

“Do not worry. I paid a little money. They will turn a blind eye.”

Just thinking about the enormous price he would have to pay later to smooth this over made Lorenzo’s heart ache, but he had no time to care about that now.

He pointed furiously in one direction and roared,

“Look at what that man is carrying!”

In the darkness lit by that little sun, the fleeing figure had nowhere to hide, and the metal container in his hand, gleaming with a sharp metallic sheen, was naturally impossible to miss.

Everyone followed the direction of Lorenzo’s finger and could not help slapping their thighs in realization.

The ancient dragon heart’s blood really had been stolen away!

No, this was not the time to dwell on that.

The ancient dragon heart’s blood was getting away. They had to chase it!

The thugs, elites, and rats, who had just been stunned by the enormous fireball, immediately went mad again.

The crowd descended into fresh chaos.

Before the people at the front had even managed to start running, those in the back had already surged forward.

The alley itself was narrow to begin with, so people immediately started shoving each other.

This pack of dangerous men all carried weapons.

Even mere pushing caused plenty of injuries, and those who had already fought themselves into a blood frenzy had no patience for reason. Right there on the spot, they erupted into another vicious melee.

Blood sprayed everywhere, and many fell dead on the spot.

“Fuck, why are you fighting now of all times? Go after him already!”

Lorenzo dragged his own elites out of the melee and once again gave chase to that figure.

Meanwhile, thanks to his superior position and the fact that he had not been dragged into the melee, Sam raised his repeating crossbow, aimed at the figure, and fired in rapid succession!

In the fading light, Sam saw the figure blur for an instant.

Not only did he evade the bolts, he also seemed to have cast Explosion Magic out of his ass, because he shot forward with a WHOOSH and covered an absurd distance in a flash.

“Holy shit, he is fast!”

Amid the chaos, someone cried out in shock.

“Can you track him?”

Lorenzo stared at the figure growing farther and farther away as he murmured again.

An aura began to drift through the air, while blood gathered into faint crimson threads that floated into the deep night.

Lorenzo’s face darkened. He shoved his blade back into its sheath and gritted out,

“Chase!”

The brief burst of light faded, and the night grew darker still.

Chaos and madness continued unabated.

Dawn was still far away.
