Chapter 289: Immortal Venerable, Fallen to Demonic Path 18
Feng Yu walked up to Su Yan, a faint smile on his face.
"Sect Hierarch."
Su Yan was biting an apple and did not yet speak.
Feng Yu had already draped over Su Yan’s shoulders his own long robe.
He tugged at one corner of the robe, adjusting its position.
Even covering the slight section of her arm that was exposed.
Afterward, neither of them spoke.
Feng Yu stood beside her, occasionally replacing the apple in Su Yan’s hand when it was finished, bringing her other fruits closer.
Until the sun set, and the remnants of the sunset lingered in the sky.
A Maid tremblingly walked up to Su Yan, kneeling before her.
"Sect Hierarch, all the parchment you requested has been gathered."
Upon hearing this, Su Yan’s eyes lit up.
"Go and make a fire, burn them all."
The Maid was taken aback, but dared not ask questions; she promptly responded,
"Yes, Sect Hierarch."
Su Yan thought for a moment and then said,
"Bring them here to burn, under my watchful eyes."
"Yes."
Quickly, the Maid complied, followed by a dozen more Maids, each carrying a basin full of parchment rolls.
They went to an open space not far from the pavilion.
Then, a large fire blazed, fueled by added oil, burning intensely.
Basin after basin of parchment rolls were thrown in.
An unpleasant, pungent smell wafted over.
She tilted her head; Feng Yu, standing behind her, promptly covered her nose and mouth with his hand.
A cold, delicate fragrance instantly masked the pungent odor.
She looked up at Xiao Yu.
At that moment, Xiao Yu lowered his eyes and leaned forward to ask,
"Does the Sect Hierarch wish for more fruit?"
Su Yan looked at him and silently nodded.
After a while, Su Yan was already eating her fourth apple.
But finally, the parchment rolls were nearly burnt out.
Following which, she said,
"Put out the fire, let’s see what’s left inside."
Then, a dozen subordinates carrying buckets of water came forward to extinguish the fire.
After a short tea time.
One of the subordinates, carrying a tray, walked forward and knelt on the ground,
"Sect Hierarch, all those parchment rolls have turned to ashes, only this one parchment seems... impervious to the fire."
Feng Yu walked over to the subordinate, picking up the tray with the parchment and brought it to Su Yan.
He gently called out,
"Sect Hierarch"
Su Yan reached out and took the parchment in her hands.
There was nothing on it.
She turned it over and over.
If everything went as expected, this should be Sword Demon’s tomb map that Xiao Hua spoke of.
After all, Xiao Hua had mentioned that the map would remain intact through fire and sword.
But how to reveal it?
She examined it for a while in her hands.
But couldn’t figure it out.
As she fell silent, the atmosphere around her cooled as well.
The subordinate kneeling on the ground trembled, his entire frame not so much kneeling as nearly collapsing.
His face pale, presumably fearing the anger of his Sect Hierarch, fearing his life was about to be over.
Feng Yu stepped forward, a light smile emerging,
"Sect Hierarch, it’s getting dark."
Su Yan, hearing his voice, raised her head from the map.
Then she heard Feng Yu continue,
"Is the Sect Hierarch hungry?"
"Hmm?"
"Xiao Yu had the evening meal prepared, all your favorites, including a dish of stir-fried Immortal Crane Meat to give you a taste."
Upon hearing the words ’Immortal Crane Meat’, Su Yan blinked,
"Immortal Crane Meat?"
"Correct."
The next second, Su Yan threw the parchment roll into Feng Yu’s hands.
Standing up, her expression serious,
"Let’s go, it’s time for dinner."
Feng Yu suppressed the smile at the corner of his lips and nodded,
"Yes, Sect Hierarch."
