The Villain Reborn as Game's Final Boss

Chapter 239: Madness [6]

Chapter 239: Madness [6]

"Move back!"

"Cover!"

"Die, you bastards!"

Though D.X. had been able to easily succeed with their attacks all over the world, there was one branch of the Syma Alchemists’ where the retaliation was the strongest.

The branch was in the territory of House Dracoth, one of the four ruling royal families of the vampires.

A descendant of the royal blood had visited the branch out of boredom, and that had led to him being trapped and his life endangered due to the attack on the branch.

As he wasn’t a direct descendant, the level of attention placed on him by House Dracoth was relatively lower. Still... having even a drop of the blood of the Dracoths in him had made the royal family send some of their elite soldiers to retrieve the descendant.

Similar to House Frost, the authorities as well as the troops serving the Dracoths had advised the royal family against sending too many of their troops to help the victims.

From the reports that the authorities had received, similar attacks were being carried out throughout the world.

Fearing a broader conspiracy behind the attack, the authorities serving House Dracoth couldn’t let their royalty come under danger.

That was why after hearing the news of a distant descendant being trapped in the attack on one of the branches of Syma... House Dracoth had sent only a few of their elite troops to retrieve the kid.

Those troops had a soldier at Diamond 1 leading them, while the rest of the soldiers were at Platinum and Gold Core.

Such strength was enough to deal with all the intruders at the branch, and even across all other branches, as no one thought that there could be anyone among the attackers capable of fighting a Diamond Core head-on.

Though there were some reports of Platinum experts present among the attackers, the Dracoths didn’t really think that the criminals would have a Diamond Core among them.

And even if by any chance they had one... Axion would ensure the death of the said attacker.

But—

Clank!

"Fall back!"

"Regroup! Be quick!"

"To the right!"

Little did they expect that the attackers would be able to corner them to such an extent.

"Tsk! You are courting death, you pest!"

Axion shouted at the individual before him, before charging straight again.

At first Axion had expected an easy operation, but the strength of the attackers had left him frustrated.

The descendant that they were tasked to retrieve had fallen unconscious, and they weren’t even able to take him away from the scene.

The leader of the intruders had the same rank as Axion—

No... that wasn’t quite right.

Axion was at Diamond 1, while the attacker was a cultivator at Diamond 2... an entire tier above Axion.

But that wasn’t the worst part.

Axion was at the peak of Diamond 1, ready to increase his tier, so managing a cultivator who was just at Diamond 2 should have been easy—

Or at least that was what Axion had thought.

But sensing his enemy’s rank, Axion could feel it.

This wasn’t a normal Diamond 2, but someone who was at the peak of that tier, and even ahead of Axion in being able to increase his tier.

That made things a lot more difficult, as Axion’s advantage had been snuffed out.

Still... Axion had thought that using his superior skills, he could somehow manage to turn the situation in his favour, but—

The enemy had once again shattered his assumptions.

No. 5 was as skilled as Axion in using his strength.

No.

With more blows being traded between the two, Axion felt that No. 5 was even more skilled than him.

The only saving factor was the Platinum Cores who had accompanied him.

With three Platinum 5 experts helping him, Axion was somehow able to manage the consecutive attacks from No. 5, though he still could not get an advantage in the battle, which was becoming intense with every passing moment.

No. 5 too felt helpless on his side.

When the report of a Dracoth royal being present at the branch was relayed to the higher-ups, Julien had immediately informed No. 5 to provide backup.

As the forces of D.X. were stretched thin across the world... there were only a few Platinum experts under No. 5’s command, though all of them had been able to stall the elites from House Dracoth.

Still... the three Platinum 5 experts among the Dracoth troops had decided to support their leader, and now it was a four-against-one battle for No. 5.

Though everyone present at the scene had to limit their strength to only using the basic combat arts, as using spells could prove disastrous considering the closed space they were fighting in.

No one wanted to be buried under the guild’s building.

No. 5 didn’t want to lose his soldiers, nor did Axion.

That was why the battle still looked like a normal one, considering how battles at the higher levels were generally fought.

Ducking down, No. 5 charged towards the nearest Platinum expert, before swinging his sword in a low motion, aiming for the enemy’s legs.

Being an entire rank below No. 5, the Platinum expert was slow to react, yet he managed to dodge the attack at the last moment, only because Axion put pressure on No. 5 from the side.

Clank!

Sparks were sent out as the Diamond Cores clashed their swords in a frenzy, making the people around them avoid the area of the fight entirely.

Though the Platinum experts had no choice but to put their lives in obvious danger, as a reduction in their numbers could easily make No. 5 end the battle by killing Axion.

No. 5 hoped that Julien could have sent more reinforcements, but knowing the reality of their situation, he began thinking of all the possible ways to ensure the survival of the soldiers under his command while at the same time making sure that the motive behind the operation in this branch succeeded without any hiccups in it.
