Chapter 444 - 446: Lorraine Warren and Jeanette Kensington’s Quarrel
Chapter 444 - 446: Lorraine Warren and Jeanette Kensington’s Quarrel
Late at night, a burlap sack, blood...
The combination of these things was undoubtedly terrifying.
The evil deeds committed by Jackson Kensington and Lorraine Warren might be far more than just forging the will.
Naomi Kenway felt a chill run through her body, and her heart felt like it was being pricked by needles.
The waves crashed against the reefs on the shore, one after another. She couldn’t help but imagine the scene from all those years ago.
She remembered how much her mother had once loved Jackson Kensington. If this really was a murder, how devastated her mother must have been the moment she realized the truth, how suffocating it must have felt to be trapped in a burlap sack, how painful the car explosion must have been, and how utterly desperate she must have felt as she plunged into the sea...
Naomi Kenway felt a stinging in her nose and couldn’t stop the tears from falling.
A large, gentle hand next to her wiped away her tears.
Ethan Shaw gently pulled Naomi Kenway into his arms, stroking her hair. His voice was filled with heartache. "Nina..."
Naomi’s voice trembled, but it was firm. "I will get to the bottom of this. I will make Jackson Kensington and Lorraine Warren pay!"
"I’ll be with you."

After being kicked out by Jackson Kensington, Lorraine Warren and Jeanette Kensington moved out of the Kenway family villa. They had one property between them, so they lived there for the time being.
They were supposed to have more properties, but after Jackson Kensington’s business failed, many were seized to cover loans. On top of that, Jackson, showing no regard for their past, had schemed to take back all the properties he had previously gifted them.
The property they were currently living in was one Jeanette Kensington had bought herself. She had originally bought it just to be closer to the studio, never expecting it would end up being used like this.
Seeing that her card’s balance was suddenly down by a million, Jeanette Kensington furiously questioned Lorraine Warren, "Did you use the money on my card again?!"
Lorraine Warren sat on the sofa, not daring to look at her. Instead, she muttered under her breath, "This place is so small. It’s a hundred times smaller than where we used to live. I can’t even stretch my arms out properly."
"Don’t change the subject! Did you use my money?"
Lorraine looked at her resentfully. "Why are you so angry? My dear daughter, I only spent a little of your money." She wiped away a tear and cried, "Things are already so bad for me, and you won’t even let me spend a little money?"
"Didn’t I tell you that our lifestyle isn’t what it used to be and that we have to be frugal? You spent a million in one month! If you keep spending like this, I’ll be broke in a few months!"
"Tell me, you spent eight hundred thousand this morning. Where did that money go?"
Lorraine’s eyes darted around. "I... I bought some jewelry."
"Where’s the jewelry?"
"I... I gave it away."
"You gave it away? Who did you give it to?"
"Alright, Jeanette, stop interrogating me like this. I worked so hard to raise you. Don’t I even have the right to spend a million?"
Jeanette Kensington stared at her in disbelief. "Tell me the truth. Did you give the money to Lee Warren?"
When Lorraine Warren didn’t answer, Jeanette knew her suspicion was correct.
"Are you insane?! Mom, have you lost your mind?! Don’t you forget who we have to thank for our situation! If it weren’t for that lunatic, our family would still be living a happy, perfect life! We’d be in a huge villa, driving luxury cars, not struggling like this!!"
Lorraine Warren hesitated. "Lee... Lee Warren is different now. He promised me that after he pays off his gambling debts, he’ll find a job and turn his life around. He said he’ll work hard to support us and treat me and you well. And he said... he said the only reason he did those things was that he couldn’t stand Jackson Kensington stealing his wife and daughter. He did it because he loves us too much."
Jeanette thought her mother had truly gone mad. "And you believe that crap? We need him to support us? What’s he going to support us with? After dragging us down to this level, how does he have the nerve to say something like that?!"
"He’s your father, after all..."
"I don’t have a father like him! I feel sick just thinking about him. Are you saying you’re getting back together with Lee Warren? Then what about my dad? Are we really just over like this?"
"What can I do?!" Lorraine Warren seemed extremely agitated, pounding the sofa in frustration and pain. "What else can I do?! I humbled myself and went to him, but he completely ignored me! He had security throw me out! That heartless man! I was never in his heart. And to think I spent so many years by his side!!"
Lorraine took out a handkerchief to wipe her tears. "I’ve gone to him so many times, and he’s ignored me every single time. I’m really ready to give up. I can’t just hang myself on one tree. I’ve thought it over, and Lee Warren isn’t so bad. I was the one who wronged him back then, so now we’re even. He’s still your biological father. Our family doesn’t need to be rich and famous; we just need to live a good life. I’m not going to think about Jackson Kensington anymore."
Jeanette Kensington let out a bitter laugh.
She had always known that Lorraine Warren was quick to trust and rely on men. She was clever in her daily affairs, but when it came to romance, she was an absolute fool, unable to judge character and easily deceived by men.
When they were first kicked out, Lorraine had been so angry she refused to eat or drink for three days and three nights. Then, she went out once and was inexplicably fine again. Jeanette guessed that Lee Warren must have taken advantage of her vulnerability then, using sweet talk to trap Lorraine once more.
"Jeanette, I still hope you can support me."
Jeanette couldn’t hold back any longer. Her already fragile emotions erupted. "How do you want me to support you? If you’re going to find someone, at least find someone decent! Besides that silver tongue of his, what part of Lee Warren is attractive to you? Wasn’t one lesson enough? We’ve already fallen this far—can’t you survive without a man to depend on?"
Lorraine looked at her in disbelief. "How can you say that to your mother? You’re still young, you wouldn’t understand. Having someone by your side to share your deepest thoughts with is better than having all the money in the world."
Jeanette’s body swayed, and the next second, she collapsed.
This terrified Lorraine Warren. She caught Jeanette and cried out, "Jeanette, Jeanette, wake up!" Then, as if remembering something, she said, "Right, I’ll call Lee Warren..."
Lee Warren arrived at the hospital quickly. He had shaved his beard and was wearing clean clothes, looking fresh and neat. Perhaps because of the poor life he had led in recent years, he wasn’t bloated and out of shape like Jackson Kensington. Though not tall, his build was sturdy, and he looked even more handsome than he had in his youth.
When Lorraine Warren saw him, it was as if she had found her backbone. "Lee Warren..."
Lee Warren comforted her, "I rushed over the moment I got your call. Don’t worry, Lorraine. Our daughter will be fine."
"Okay."
When Jeanette finally regained consciousness, she saw the two of them embracing. Her vision went black, and she fainted again.
