Chapter 439 - 441: Naomi Kenway Elected Chairman
Chapter 439 - 441: Naomi Kenway Elected Chairman
After a long meeting, Naomi Kenway was elected by the shareholders as the new chairwoman of the Kenway Group.
Applause erupted all around.
Saul Linton was so moved, he began to cry. He and Vincent Kenway had been the best of friends, and he had watched Vincent build the Kenway Group from scratch, turning it into a renowned local enterprise. Later, when Vincent’s health declined, the company was passed to Rose Kenway to manage. Rose’s business acumen was every bit as sharp as Vincent’s—in fact, you could say the student had surpassed the master.
Back then, the business world was dominated by men who often looked down on female entrepreneurs. Yet, in that very environment, Rose Kenway managed to more than double the Kenway Group’s assets. At their peak, the Kenway Family, though new money, stood on equal footing with the old, established families of Veridia. That was, until everything fell into the hands of Jackson Kensington.
That useless glutton, that idiot who knew nothing but how to keep a mistress, had single-handedly destroyed the decades of work the Kenway Family had put into their business.
Every time he thought about it, Saul Linton felt so angry he could hardly breathe.
But thankfully, the family’s company was now back in the hands of the Kenway Family. In Saul Linton’s mind, regardless of how well Naomi ran it, this was as it should be—rightful and just. It was better than having an outsider sit in the chairman’s seat, indulging himself. Besides, Saul Linton had faith in Naomi. He believed she would undoubtedly revive the Kenway Group and continue her ancestors’ legacy...
Saul Linton’s eyes brimmed with emotional tears.
Naomi Kenway stood up to give her acceptance speech. "Thank you all so much for your support. I am confident that by working together, we will restore this company to its former glory!"
As she bowed, many scenes flashed through Naomi Kenway’s mind.
There was her grandfather, lying in a hospital bed with an oxygen mask on, his hand trembling as he held hers. He had told her she would always be the granddaughter that made him the most proud.
And her mother, hugging her while they cut a birthday cake and made wishes, telling her that her little princess was another year older...
The applause grew more intense, but some faces in the crowd clearly showed their displeasure—likely the cronies of Jackson Kensington or those who had conspired with Caleb Bishop.
Caleb Bishop sat at a corner of the table, clapping with a stunned expression on his face.
It was as if he were seeing a different Naomi Kenway.
’This wasn’t the coddled girl from their youth who loved to act cute, nor was it the cold, defiant woman who now glared at him. Her expression was composed, her words measured and convincing. She was like a pearl, emitting a soft, shimmering glow. In this moment,’ he thought, ’her charisma was unparalleled.’
After the meeting ended, Naomi Kenway left the conference room, chatting with a few board members who had come to congratulate her.
Pushing the door open, Naomi quickly noticed a tall figure standing before her.
"Oh, it’s President Shaw. We’ll leave you two to catch up."
Ethan Shaw walked over with a smile, took Naomi Kenway’s hand, and led her toward the elevator.
"You were waiting outside this whole time?"
"I had my assistant leave a crack in the door for me. I saw the whole election process, and when you gave your speech... you were absolutely radiant..."
Naomi Kenway arched an eyebrow smugly. "Well, of course. Don’t you know who I am?"
"I feel like I’ve accomplished something huge, but I can’t completely relax yet. I know there’s still so much I have to do..."
"You have to take it one step at a time. I’ll be right here with you through it all."
Naomi Kenway nodded, squeezing his hand a little tighter. "Okay."
"I’ve already booked a restaurant. Shall we go celebrate?"
"Okay."
In the evening, the couple picked up Ian from Mia Preston’s house.
Mia Preston had her usual smile. She had an exceptional air about her, and the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes only added to her timeless charm.
"Picking up your son together today? It seems you two have made up," she said with a gentle smile.
Naomi Kenway smiled and nodded, hugging Ian Shaw as he threw himself into her arms. "Thank you, Ms. Preston. We appreciate you looking after Ian."
"It’s no trouble at all. It’s a wonderful thing to have an apprentice to carry on my work. Ian was excellent today, as always." Mia Preston sighed. "He learns so astonishingly fast. In all my decades, I’ve never seen a student with such talent. No, not just a student—I’ve never met a child as brilliant as him in my entire life. I feel like it won’t be long before there’s nothing left for me to teach him."
"You’re too kind, Ms. Preston," Ethan Shaw said.
Mia Preston said, "It’s a good thing Ian was born into the Shaw Family. Otherwise, with a talent like his, I fear some people might get the wrong ideas."
She bent down and patted Ian’s cheek. "Goodbye, Ian."
"Goodbye, Ms. Preston~"
The family went straight to the restaurant they had booked. Ian watched his loving parents feed each other from across the table, still in a bit of a daze.
But soon, a smile spread across his face.
’Ian’s mommy and daddy weren’t any different from other kids’ parents. They didn’t just love Ian; they were deeply in love with each other.’

After officially taking up her post, Naomi Kenway’s first order of business was to find several pretexts to drive all of Jackson Kensington’s cronies out of the company.
Jackson Kensington’s cronies were all incompetent. They had only been given positions because they were relatives from his hometown. They did nothing but throw their weight around, riding his coattails, yet they were all earning annual salaries of at least six figures.
Beyond that, the mountain of unsold cars sitting in the warehouse was a major problem. If she couldn’t solve it, the company’s cash flow wouldn’t be enough to sustain operations.
Ethan Shaw helped Naomi immensely. He introduced her to a Mr. Hughes, who said he could take the entire stock of cars and even placed a new custom order.
With the biggest problem solved, Naomi Kenway finally breathed a sigh of relief.
The Kenway Family’s business interests were widespread. Aside from manufacturing, their main industry was real estate. However, with the recent slump in the property market, that division had been consistently losing money.
When Jackson Kensington had taken over, he’d been unwilling to explore new sectors, content to just coast on past successes. The company’s situation had worsened daily, and it had accumulated significant debt.
Naomi knew that pivoting and expanding the Kenway Group’s business was inevitable. She targeted the booming internet sector, shifting many operations to internet-related industries. As for auto manufacturing, the government had been promoting green transportation in recent years, making new energy vehicles the emerging trend. As it happened, a foreign manufacturer expressed great interest in a partnership, offering to provide technical support.
As Naomi Kenway was leaving the company building, she saw Jackson Kensington’s relatives gathered outside, demanding an explanation.
"We were doing our jobs just fine! On what grounds are you kicking us out?"
"You’re Jackson’s daughter, right? This is outrageous! I haven’t even said a word, so what’s your big hurry?"
"We’re relatives, for crying out loud! We may have only met a few times, but I held you when you were just a baby!"
"Where’s Jackson? We want to see Jackson! We’re not leaving until he comes out! I don’t care that you’re the chairwoman—I only take orders from Brother Jackson!"
...
Surrounded by her bodyguards, Naomi Kenway let out a cold smile.
"What’s the matter? Did loafing around the company for a while make you all forget your place?"
