Chapter 433 - 435: Jeanette Kensington, Let’s Break Up

"Th-this... what is all this...?" Jeanette Kensington’s body trembled as she feigned ignorance, staring at the room full of paintings.

She hung her head low, as if she could retreat into a shell and hide.

"You’ve already seen them, haven’t you? Every single painting in this room is of Naomi Kenway." He spoke through gritted teeth, as if loath to admit it. "I’ve never forgotten her..."

"Then what about me...?" Jeanette Kensington’s eyes were bloodshot. "If she’s the love of your life, then who am I? I’ve been by your side for so many years. Don’t you feel even a little bit sorry for me?"

"Who’s been accompanying whom? For all these years, I’ve had to endure your temper tantrums and irrational fits. You have an episode every so often, and you bite my arm like a madwoman. I could never get angry. I could only be good to you, good to you for the rest of our lives!"

Caleb Bishop rolled up his sleeve, revealing several deep, unfaded bite marks.

"I’ve always told you I don’t love you, but you never believed me. Do you believe me now?" he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Do you think someone who truly loves you would hide portraits of another person in a secret room?"

"If you don’t love me, why are you with me?! Was it just to use me?"

"Yes." Caleb Bishop’s voice was utterly cold. "Just to use you."

Jeanette Kensington screamed and clutched her neck, gasping as if she couldn’t breathe.

Caleb Bishop knew this was an old habit of hers, something that happened whenever she became overly emotional. He would usually rush over to comfort her, but this time, he just stood there, watching coldly.

’He knew Jeanette’s illness wasn’t actually that severe. But even when she was lucid, she still liked to bite him, as if trying to transfer her pain directly to him. She had always been a sick, twisted person.’

A minute later, Jeanette Kensington recovered. Her tears streamed down her face. "You made a fool out of me! Caleb Bishop, you’re not even human! I was completely devoted to you, I would have torn out my own heart for you, and this is how you treat me? Not only did you betray me, but you also ruined my family’s company. How could you do this after everything my father did to groom you?"

"Your dad only ever saw me as someone to exploit. I made him a fortune, and he never gave me a single cent of the profits. He just treated me like a workhorse to be bled dry! Besides..." He raised an eyebrow slightly. "Is this company really yours? The company’s name is Kenway, not Kensington. You know better than anyone how your family got it."

"Don’t act so high and mighty. You keep accusing me of betraying you, but what about yourself? Have you never betrayed me? When you were spending the night with other men, did it ever occur to you that you had a boyfriend?"

Jeanette Kensington’s expression froze, as if she’d been turned to stone. She shook her head repeatedly. "You... how could you know...? That’s impossible..."

She had always been so careful to hide it.

Caleb Bishop often gave her the cold shoulder and never made any promises. Trying to hold onto him was like trying to catch a shooting star. She was beautiful and talented, so she always had many admirers, some of whom were quite exceptional. She couldn’t help but start to bask in the feeling of being pursued. It was completely different from how things were with Caleb; these other men were all fiery and passionate.

But despite all that, she was still careful in her relationships with other men, because the only one she truly cared about was Caleb Bishop.

Jeanette Kensington suddenly burst out laughing. The laughter turned to tears, and she couldn’t stop herself from slapping Caleb Bishop across the face. "So you knew. You knew all along! You knew everything, but you never cared!"

Caleb Bishop touched his cheek and pushed her away. "That’s enough. You’re a complete lunatic."

He looked down at Jeanette Kensington, his voice devoid of any warmth. "We’ve made things clear. Don’t come bothering me again. This afternoon, I will officially announce that I’m breaking off our engagement."

He pointed to the door. "Stop being an eyesore. Please leave."

Naomi Kenway heard what had happened at the company. It was clearly a trap Caleb Bishop had deliberately set for Jackson Kensington. Jackson and Lorraine Warren were both so furious they had been hospitalized, and Jeanette Kensington wasn’t faring much better.

Watching them tear each other apart was satisfying, but it also pained her. The business empire her grandfather and mother had built with their own hands was now crumbling.

Naomi Kenway clenched her fists. ’I have to take back the Kenway Family and the company. I can’t just stand by and watch Jackson Kensington run the Kenway legacy into the ground until there’s nothing left.’

’That bastard, Jackson Kensington...’

A call came in from an unknown number. When Naomi Kenway answered, she was surprised to hear Jackson Kensington’s voice on the other end.

He was no longer as arrogant and haughty as before. For once, his voice was several notches lower. The moment he realized Naomi Kenway had picked up, he became agitated. "Nao... Naomi... daughter..."

Naomi Kenway cut him off coldly. "Don’t call me that. It’s disgusting. Who’s your daughter?" She sneered. "I don’t have to guess why you’re calling. Let me tell you, no chance. There’s no way I’m helping you!"

Jackson Kensington paused on the other end, uncharacteristically holding back his anger. "This isn’t just about helping me; it’s about the Kenway Family. It’s my fault I was tricked by that animal Caleb Bishop, that son of a bitch, but are you really going to stand by and watch the company go under? This is the company your grandfather and Rose built with their own hands. Can you really bear to see that happen?"

"I know you have money. Ethan Shaw must have given you plenty..." He paused, as if thinking himself quite considerate. "Of course, I know Jane Chandler can be difficult to deal with, and I wouldn’t want you to run into trouble with her. But you’ve been acting for so many years, you must have some savings, right? Maybe not hundreds of millions, but you must have tens of millions, right? Sell off some of your jewelry, and you should have no problem scraping together a hundred million. If that’s not enough, just pester Ethan Shaw and ask him for some. With that money, we can definitely pull through this crisis."

Naomi Kenway had to laugh at Jackson Kensington’s shamelessness.

"What are you laughing at?"

"I’m laughing at how shameless you are." Naomi Kenway’s voice turned icy. "It’s not impossible for me to help you. Kick Lorraine Warren and Jeanette Kensington out of the house. Then go to the cemetery and kowtow a hundred times to my grandfather and another hundred to my mother, kneeling with every single step. Do that, and I’ll help you."

"In your dreams!" Jackson Kensington’s voice was seething with rage. "One is your stepmother, and the other is your own sister! How can you be so heartless? You cold, unfeeling person! A child’s debt to their parents is greater than anything! Without me, you wouldn’t even exist! And now, when it’s your turn to show a little filial piety, you start making excuses!"

"You’re only just now realizing I’m cold and unfeeling? Don’t you have another daughter? She feels so sorry for you, so go ask her to solve your problems! If that doesn’t work, go find yourself a rich sugar mama. Aren’t you an expert at that sort of thing? Just go stand on a street corner and wait for the cash to roll in." Naomi Kenway let out a soft "Oh," and added:

"Then again, you’re old, ugly, and rotten to the core. I doubt any sugar mama would want you."
