Chapter 423 - 425: Don’t You Know? We Used to Be Boyfriend and Girlfriend
Ethan Shaw froze. He stared intently at Luke Lowell, his voice turning cold. "What did you say?"
Luke Lowell chuckled sheepishly. "I just said they look a little alike, that’s all. Besides, my cousin is so handsome and dashing. How could that guy possibly compare?"
Sensing Ethan Shaw’s expression growing darker, Luke Lowell belatedly realized something was wrong. "I was just kidding, cousin. Don’t be so serious. They don’t look alike, not at all."
He held up four fingers as he spoke. "I swear!"
A storm raged in Ethan Shaw’s heart. Now he understood why Caleb Bishop had seemed familiar the first time they met. ’Was it because he looked a little like me?’
The fog was parting, and it felt as if something was slowly being revealed.
Luke Lowell softly called out, "Cousin," sizing up Ethan Shaw’s expression. He suddenly didn’t dare make another peep. He had no idea why his cousin was reacting so strongly.
’Could it be that he already despises Caleb Bishop to this degree?’
Luke Lowell was cursing his luck. ’If I’d known this was going to happen, I would’ve risked getting killed by my own mother rather than stay here.’
’This is terrifying. Absolutely terrifying. My cousin is downright scary when he’s not smiling.’

Caleb Bishop had just finished two toasts when an attendant quietly approached and whispered in his ear, "Mr. Bishop, President Shaw would like to see you. Please come upstairs with me."
"Which President Shaw?"
"President Shaw from InfiniTech. Please come with me." It sounded like a request, but his tone brooked no argument.
Caleb Bishop turned to clink glasses with the person he was talking to. "Something’s come up, I have to step away. President Young, let’s catch up later."
Caleb Bishop followed the attendant to the second floor, asking in a seemingly casual tone, "Isn’t this party hosted by Mr. Lane? What, does President Shaw have a stake in the man’s villa or something?"
The attendant replied, neither servile nor overbearing, "He is President Shaw, after all. Who would dare not show him some deference? Wouldn’t you agree?"
Caleb Bishop smiled, a flicker of sarcasm flashing through his eyes. "I suppose you’re right."
The room was brightly lit, and Caleb Bishop blinked uncomfortably in the harsh glare. The decor was lavish; this was no simple meeting room.
Ethan Shaw rose from the sofa. He walked over and, using his height advantage, looked down on Caleb Bishop. He got straight to the point: "What is your relationship with my wife?"
He put special emphasis on the word "wife."
The smile on Caleb Bishop’s face froze for a second. He hadn’t expected Ethan Shaw to ask this question. ’Did I attract his attention by looking at Naomi Kenway too much?’
A complex mix of emotions brewed in his heart. Upon seeing the impatience and urgency in Ethan Shaw’s eyes, he suddenly changed his tack.
"Why ask me this question? Or, why not just ask Mrs. Shaw directly? Is it because she’s hiding something?"
Ethan Shaw’s eyes instantly turned cold. He smiled. "If you dare lie to me, I’ll make sure you suffer the consequences."
Caleb Bishop knew Ethan Shaw wasn’t joking. His own achievements were nowhere near Ethan’s level. He was facing a mountain that seemed impossible to climb.
Caleb Bishop’s smile vanished, and his expression grew serious. "Has she really never mentioned our relationship to you?" He paused thoughtfully before continuing.
"We used to date."
"We were each other’s first love."
"We were a couple who almost got engaged."
"Is that straightforward enough for you?" Caleb Bishop asked with a grin, completely ignoring Ethan Shaw’s face, which had grown as dark as a thundercloud.
"I’m truly surprised you didn’t know, President Shaw. I assumed you two were an inseparable couple who told each other everything. But it turns out... she hasn’t been entirely honest with you. Now, why would that be..." Caleb Bishop shook his head with a sigh. The next second, a fist sent him crashing to the floor.
Luke Lowell was waiting in the banquet hall downstairs. Before long, he saw Ethan Shaw descending the stairs, his face so dark he looked like he could kill someone. Onlookers caught sight of his intimidating aura and kept their distance, not daring to approach and curry favor.
Luke Lowell didn’t dare to approach him either, watching helplessly as Ethan Shaw strode out, followed by four bodyguards in black sunglasses.
As far as Luke Lowell could remember, this was the first time Ethan Shaw had ever left an event early.
Suddenly, a commotion broke out nearby. An attendant hurried upstairs with a doctor in a white coat, followed by the party’s host, Mr. Lucas Lane.

"Are you guys still filming that show? I gotta say, your director sure knows how to cast. You get rid of Renee Jennings just to bring in Jeanette Kensington. I watched the last episode you recorded, and that Jeanette Kensington is the same scheming bitch as always. She’s always loved playing dirty to steal your spotlight, just like Martin Murray. It’s disgusting!"
Chloe Murray sat on the sofa, fuming on Naomi Kenway’s behalf.
"I also didn’t expect the director to have such... unique taste, inviting Jeanette Kensington. When we were little, I was terrified of seeing her, because Jackson Kensington was always criticizing me, saying I wasn’t as good as she was. For a while, I had terrible self-esteem and felt like I couldn’t even hold my head up in front of her."
Naomi Kenway let out a cold laugh. "But things are better now. Jeanette Kensington is the one who can’t hold her head high. The more she tries to outdo me and be the center of attention, the more I’ll make sure she fails. I’m going to make her understand that she can spend her entire life trying, but she will never surpass me."
Chloe Murray nodded in agreement. "Damn right! Piss that vicious woman off until she drops dead! She got exposed as the daughter of a mistress, and she still has the audacity to post online that she shouldn’t be blamed for her parents’ mistakes. It’s laughable. Just a little while ago she was calling herself her parents’ ’little angel’ and ’princess,’ but the second there’s trouble, she acts like it has nothing to do with her. Forget her family background—hasn’t everything she’s done been disgusting enough on its own?"
Naomi Kenway picked up a plump, glistening grape and popped it into her mouth.
Chloe Murray said, "Anyway, let’s stop talking about that downer. When does your little brat get out of school? I haven’t seen him in a while. I saw him during the livestream, and he looked like he’d thinned out a little and gotten taller."
Naomi Kenway smiled. "You miss Ian?"
Chloe Murray pouted and cleared her throat. "No, I was just asking. That little brat is just a little smart and a little cute, that’s all. For someone so young, he’s always fighting me for your attention. It’s insufferable!"
Naomi Kenway could hear the insincerity in her voice. "Ian’s been going through a growth spurt, but all his vitals are healthy. You can rest easy, Kara."
"COUGH, COUGH. It’s not like I’m worried about him..." Chloe Murray mumbled, turning her head away awkwardly.
A sound at the door made both Naomi Kenway and Chloe Murray look over at the same time.
Naomi Kenway, slightly surprised, sat up a little straighter. "Ethan Shaw, weren’t you supposed to be at a banquet? Why are you back so early?"
Ethan Shaw didn’t reply with his usual enthusiasm. He glanced at Chloe Murray, then nodded at the butler standing behind him.
The butler stepped forward. "Miss Murray, I’m afraid I must ask you to leave for a moment. Sir has something to discuss with Madam."
Chloe Murray immediately grew wary.
