The Unwanted Mate

Chapter 96

Chapter 96

Things were slowly getting better.

The packhouse house wasn't gloomy anymore.

For the past few months, things were going smoothly. The alpha and the beta made sure every member of the pack was well and protected.

The shadow pack formed alliances with various other packs to learn and share things. They learned new fighting methods and a lot of people volunteered to be warriors after what happened in the past.

There was a spike in the number of female warriors. Their Luna's bravery had motivated them to join the warrior training.

Evelyn taught self defense to omegas. She said they need it the most because they were often taken advantage of.

The omegas were excited. It was the first time they had a chance to learn anything other than cooking and basic education.

Evelyn also made sure that there were opportunities for everyone, despite their gender, to pursue whatever they want. Be it art, science, or anything.

The pack was more prosperous now. They added new business to their old ones and now their products had a global market.

Calvin and Keiran ended their warrior training around five in the afternoon and decided to go back to the packhouse.

They usually did the training in the morning but recently they changed it to the afternoon because of Keiran's order.

The alpha was worried about his mate as Evelyn started feeling sick lately. It was worse in the morning so Keiran always made sure to stay by his mate's side then.

They consulted Amelia but she said she had to run some tests to know what it is.

"Hey, Rain texted me to meet up with him at his mom's garden," Calvin said as he stopped. "You go into the packhouse. I'll be there later," He waved before running off to the direction where his mate was.

Keiran raised an eyebrow before he shrugged his shoulders and continued to walk towards the packhouse. He couldn't wait to see Evelyn.

The alpha frowned as he saw the packhouse. There wasn't a single light in the big house. It was dark and unusually quiet.

Where was everyone?

Keiran increased his pace. He was half jogging and half walking as he moved towards the house.

He pushed open the doors and called out his mate's name but there was no reply. He looked around the hall.

It was dark except for one single candle on the table. Keiran walked towards the source of light.

The candle had a note beside it.

"Go to our room. I have something for you there :)

-Love, Evelyn "

He looked at the note in amusement before a smile slowly formed on his lips. If Evelyn planned this, that means she's better now. The thought of Evelyn recovering from her sickness made the alpha's mind calm.

He quickly went up the stairs and barged into their room.

"Evelyn!" He called happily but there was no reply. The room was quiet and dark except that it was decorated with flowers.

He looked at the bed. There was jasmine all over it and besides the bed, on the table, there was a candle and a note.

He hastily went there to see the note.

"Dear Keiran,

I can't express how much I love you. The amount of love and affection you gave me is already enough to last a lifetime. You saved me and took care of me. You gave me hope. You're everything I ever wanted and I know my future is always safe with you. I know you love me as I love you.

We both know our first meeting wasn't as nice as we both wanted it to be. But you changed for me. You flipped your world upside down to make me comfortable. You went out of your ways and beliefs to accept me. It was hard but you did it for me. You are awesome and I'm so lucky to have you. Now, I want you to come to the place where you first met me. I'm here waiting for you with a big surprise. I'm sure you'll like it :)

-Love, Evelyn"

Keiran chuckled. "Silly girl… I'm not the one who saved her. She saved me…" He mumbled before running out of the packhouse.

He sprinted towards the woods with a big grin on his face. The sun was setting and the sky was painted beautiful crimson.

In a few minutes, he was in front of the cabin where he first met his mate.

The cabin looked different. It was clean and painted. The front was decorated with candles and bright yellow LED lights.

Keiran stared at it in amusement before he slowly walked towards it. His heart was beating fast and he didn't know why. He felt happy and a little bit nervous.

The alpha opened the front door. Inside the cabin looked cozy and warm. There was a fireplace, couch, carpets, tables, and wines. The inside was lit up with a table lamp and candles. It looked nothing like what it was before.

Evelyn was sitting on the chair beside the fireplace. She stood up as soon as she saw her mate.

"Keiran! You're here!" Evelyn hugged her mate with a big smile.

"Of course, baby. You totally changed this place. It looks amazing," He smiled, kissing her forehead.

"Uhmm... I have something to give you,"

Evelyn stepped back, fiddling with her fingers nervously.

Keiran tucked in the golden locks that fell onto the omega's face as he made her look up at him. "What is it, love? Why are you nervous?"

"W-Wait, I'll give it to you," She said before turning around. Evelyn took a gift box that was neatly wrapped in red glittery paper.

She nervously bit her lips while handing it over to Keiran.

The alpha looked at her confused for a moment before he decided to open the box.

"You brought a gift for me? That's so adorable," Keiran smiled as he removed the gift paper. He looked at the small box and his mate before deciding to open it.

Evelyn nervously watched her mate's reaction.

Keiran's eyebrows furrowed a bit when he saw the content inside.

Evelyn gulped. Her hands turned cold and her heart started to beat faster.

"Baby clothes? Why does it have baby clothes?" Keiran looked at his mate who just stood there silent, fiddling with her fingers. "Did you buy it for someone else? Who's having a bab—wait… Oh my god! Are you—Are you pregnant?!" Keiran stared at his mate, his eyes wide and gleaming.

Evelyn nervously nodded and that was all it took for her mate to jump in the air with happiness. Keiran hugged the omega and kissed her all over her face as she showed him the pregnancy test result.

Keiran was over the moon. He kept asking repeatedly if this was real or not which made Evelyn giggle.

The alpha sat down with his mate on his lap after he calmed down. He took in her scent and Evelyn caught some tears streaming down his cheeks. Keiran described it as happy tears.

"I can't believe this, " He muttered.

Evelyn giggled. "You're going to a papa wolf, "

Keiran grinned, his hands caressing the omega's belly. "I didn't know there was a little pup in here. I thought you were sick. I was so worried," He let out a relieved sigh.

"It was the morning sickness, "

"Hmm… wait, who helped you renovate this cabin? " Keiran looked at his mate.

"Some warriors helped me with painting and repairing. The omegas did the interior design. They're very talented at this, "

Keiran smiled. "That's good to know. You made this place special. I'm happy you turned it into something beautiful,"

"We should go to the packhouse. Everyone is waiting for us,"

"Mom is going to lose her shit when she's gonna know you're pregnant," The alpha chuckled.

"I can already see her smothering me," Evelyn laughed.

She looked at the sky as they walked out of the cabin.

It was a full moon.

Evelyn took a moment to thank the moon goddess. She remembers how hopeless she was but now things have changed.

She was happy.

She was in a safe place with a perfect family.
