Chapter 968: It’s Not an Overstatement to Describe It as Respectful

She pulled out all the stops this time, resorting to cajoling and flattery to get herself that much-coveted ticket to the fashion show through her backstage connections.

Even then, she only managed to score a third-row seat.

The third row is not bad at all.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t be sitting and chatting with these Beijing high society types who think they’re above everyone else. But being called out still feels like a slap in the face.

Unable to keep her cool, her gaze turned icy, and without much consideration for the consequences, she said coldly: "That’s because you didn’t see her. That girl was dressed pretty ordinary, not bad-looking, that face could definitely turn heads in the entertainment circle. Looks no more than 18 or 19, probably got in by pulling some strings."

It was just short of directly insinuating that Nathalie Quinlan got in by cozying up to some man.

She herself had wormed her way in using the same tactics and now had the nerve to look down on others for supposedly doing the same, prompting several from the circle of elite ladies to frown and smirk at her dismissively, no one deigning to join in the conversation.

If it weren’t for the fact that the backstage powerhouse behind this show was Pinecone Group, and Sherly Iversen’s sugar daddy had ties with Pinecone Group, they probably wouldn’t have given Sherly Iversen the time of day, considering her just a ’mistress’; it’s beneath them!

Jethro Yapiter was not too far away, arranging for staff to begin preparations for the show, and he just happened to overhear the ladies’ conversation.

He usually couldn’t care less about such mindless gossip, and was about to leave after finishing his own work, but then he overheard Sherly Iversen raising her voice about how the girl in the front row was 18 or 19, exceptionally eye-catching and all that, which immediately brought a certain image to his mind. Instinctively, he looked towards the front row.

A girl’s slender back was visible, wearing a signature T-shirt and a Duckbill Cap, visible from behind only as she hunched over her Phone.

Jethro Yapiter was taken aback for a moment, somewhat bewildered and slow to react: "Ms. Quinlan?"

His sudden exclamation was heard by Sherly Iversen and her group, who turned around, recognized him as someone who often accompanied Silvania Ingram.

Sherly Iversen was startled, unsure if he had overheard her earlier comments, but on second thought, she felt she hadn’t said anything wrong; on some level, she considered herself defending the reputation of Pinecone Group and Seven. She let go of the anxiety she had felt, was about to raise her hand to cozy up to Jethro Yapiter.

But the man in the suit and leather shoes didn’t give her a second glance, instead, he walked right past her and the cluster of Beijing socialites, quickly heading towards the girl in the front row.

Heading straight for the girl she had just been subtly dissing in her conversation.

From a distance, they couldn’t make out what he said to the girl, but it was clear from Jethro Yapiter’s demeanor while speaking to her that it was nothing short of respectful.

His behavior could even be described as reverent!

"Is this the person wearing the ’fake’ you mentioned, the one who got in by hanging onto a man’s coattails?" One of the ladies who had just clashed with Sherly Iversen laughed upon seeing this, lifting her hand to play with the Jade bracelet on her Wrist, her eyes and brows expressing a subtle message to her: "Next time, don’t look down on people with your dog’s eyes. The Beijing Circle runs deep; not everyone is like you, desperate to show off every piece of Clothing they own on their back. Some people prefer to keep it low-key, comfortable in T-shirts and sneakers."

Sherly Iversen was publicly humiliated; her Face color turned quite unsightly.
