The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 940: She got third place and is treating people to dinner?

Chapter 940: She got third place and is treating people to dinner?

It was Govert Griffin who broke the silence, astutely saying, "Mr. Vinson, I see people in the group saying that Ms. Zachmann is inviting us to Rivendell for dinner later on, will you go?"

Propping up his head, Sadam Vinson glanced at him lazily, too unbothered to reply: "What do you think?"

Everyone in the circle understands what Caryn Zachmann is scheming.

He looked over at the man who was still carefully scalding beef slices for the girl, smacked his lips, and wanted to take out his phone to show those idiots in the group what Amadeus’s treasured darling, hidden deep in his heart, looked like.

And there he was, stupidly licking up to Caryn Zachmann.

But...

Sadam Vinson looked back at him in surprise: "She’s treating us to dinner just for coming in third place?"

Seeing his reaction, Govert knew he didn’t understand, put his phone down, gave a slight smile, and said, "Medical competitions are very specialized, usually only those studying the field pay attention, and online news doesn’t specifically report who came first... Didn’t a local win first place this year?"

He didn’t elaborate, but Sadam Vinson, having mixed in top circles since childhood, wasn’t a fool; he was not particularly attentive to these twists and turns but understood Govert’s point instantly. He felt as if he had swallowed a fly, repulsed by Caryn Zachmann’s crafty maneuver.

He didn’t say much, only glanced over at Nathalie Quinlan.

The beef Amadeus Yancey was scalding had just cooked through, and he placed it in the girl’s bowl; seeing her still casually leaning on her chair playing with her phone, seemingly replying to messages.

He asked her, "What is it, who’s looking for you?"

Nathalie had just replied to a message and looked up, her dark eyes meeting his before she quickly looked away, grunting, and replied lazily, "Nobody."

"My tutor."

She paused for a second, put her phone away, and drawled, "He’s asking if I want to join the Medical Association."

Originally a big group of people were gathered for Hot Pot, though calling it Hot Pot, Nadya Tucker and several others were more there to watch them eat, sitting uncomfortably themselves, anxious out of their minds, fearful that saying the wrong thing or making a wrong move would squander their chance to break into Sadam Vinson and others’ tight-knit circle, like that idiot at Rivendell who botched his flattery and hit the horse’s leg instead, consequently being ostracized from the circle ever since.

For people like Sadam Vinson and Amadeus Yancey, pushing someone out didn’t need words; often a mere glance was enough for others to fall over each other to mess with you, not for any reason other than to ingratiate themselves with the top echelons of the Pyramid.

So even today’s Hot Pot lunch, as down-to-earth as it gets, everyone still remained on edge, nervous and cautious.

Now hearing the girl casually mention the Medical Association, even though Nadya and the others already knew about today’s medical competition from Govert, they couldn’t help but turn towards Nathalie with astonished expressions.

Entering the domestic Medical Association was no easy task!

Backed by her connections within the Circle and having Adelle Wafford as her Tutor, Caryn Zachmann managed to join the Medical Association in her junior year.

How old is Nathalie this year?

She hasn’t even started freshman year, and she’s joining the Medical Association already?

Everyone was too stunned to dare to pry any further with questions.

As for Nathalie, she didn’t pay any attention to their reactions, her gaze contained as she picked up her chopsticks again and continued to Amadeus, "Also, he sent a message asking if I have time, he wants to invite me out for a meal and introduce me to some other people."
