Chapter 888: Just Cleaning Up the Trash, What Problem Could I Have
Although she still wore an expression of haughty laziness, it made Ivy Wilmar’s heart clench, wishing she could cover the mouth of the idiot next to her.
But Emilia Sullivan had already called out, and others had heard.
She had no choice but to toughen up, clutching her handbag tightly, and pulling her lips into a forced, dry smile, "What a coincidence, Nathalie, running into you here. I heard you did well on the college entrance exam, congratulations."
The word "congratulations" was incredibly difficult for her to say.
Nathalie Quinlan’s exam results couldn’t simply be described as "not bad." If it were a sincere wish, one would definitely emphasize the extraordinary achievement of being the national top scorer.
Instead, she casually glossed over it with a nonchalant mention of "not bad."
It was clear how torturous it was for her to congratulate Nathalie Quinlan on doing well on her exams.
Ivy Wilmar gave her congratulations through gritted teeth.
Emilia Sullivan didn’t even bother with pretenses, turning her head away with a cold face and a superior attitude, as if she was only moments away from rolling her eyes in disdain.
"How come you didn’t tell the family about your good exam results?" Her tone was accusatory from the get-go.
As if Nathalie Quinlan had to report her academic achievements to her, a ’parental figure’ in the Quinlan Family.
Nathalie not telling her twisted into Nathalie’s fault.
"..." The girl tilted her hat brim down, neither responding nor paying attention.
Her eyes just turned colder.
Those who knew her understood this was a sign of her irritation.
Amadeus Yancey subtly stood in front of her, shielding her, and said to Alfred Garland, "You go ahead and take Nathalie inside."
He then turned to the girl and said softly, "Go inside, be good."
Nathalie Quinlan looked up, casting one more glance at Emilia Sullivan and Ivy Wilmar, hands in her pockets, seeming to ponder whether she should go in or not.
Amadeus Yancey knew her temperament, and said in a low voice, "Grandpa Zachmann is waiting inside for you, do you want to start arguing with them here? Today is your celebration banquet for advancing to university, I know you don’t care, but Grandpa Zachmann and your second uncle took the trouble to invite a group of friends to celebrate for you. You wouldn’t want a couple of spoilsports to ruin the entire celebration and disappoint Mr. Zachmann, would you?"
This hit home for Nathalie Quinlan. She raised her eyes, black pupils beautiful and pure, her tone lazy but earnest, "I’ll go in. You sure you’ll be okay here?"
"Ts," Amadeus Yancey grasped her hand, squeezing the tips of her fingers, in a good mood, then released her and looked up with a faint, subtle smile on his lips, yet his eyes were extremely cold, "I’m just taking out the trash, what problem could I have? Go in, don’t worry."
"I’ll send you a message if there’s anything."
Having arrived at this point in the conversation, Nathalie Quinlan didn’t have much to say, mainly because, as Amadeus Yancey had said, she didn’t want to spoil the meticulously prepared celebration banquet that Mr. Zachmann had arranged for her because of Emilia Sullivan.
Therefore, she lowered her eyelids, lifted her phone slightly, "Remember what you said, to send me a message if there’s anything."
"I know."
"..."
With Amadeus Yancey’s status, she didn’t think Ivy Wilmar and Emilia Sullivan dared to do much. She just found them very annoying, like flies, constantly buzzing around, yet when it came to capability, they had little to none.
Annoying, to say the least.
Just then, Grandpa Zachmann’s phone call came through again, likely to ask where she was and when she would arrive.
Nathalie Quinlan was already not far from the banquet hall’s entrance, so she didn’t take the call, just hung it up. She gave him one last look and said, "I’ll leave this to you, then."
"Mmm, go inside."
"...Okay."
Nathalie Quinlan said she’d leave it to him, trusted him completely, and walked away decisively without any hesitation. Her figure was imposing from behind.
