Chapter 843: Unworthy Descendant, You Amadeus
Chapter 843: Unworthy Descendant, You Amadeus
Hearing the girl’s low and husky voice in the passenger seat conversing casually with her aunt, Amadeus Yancey couldn’t help but curl his thin lips, feeling good, he said, "Next time be more low-key, you don’t have to be so sincere, lest you scare her and give her a chance to pull strings for you."
Nathalie Quinlan raised her eyebrows, her eyes—which were pure black and white—glanced at him and she nodded politely, "Next time."
By the time she finished speaking it was already too late to tell her to tone it down.
Amadeus chuckled as the traffic light turned green.
Looking ahead at the road, Nathalie turned to him and said, "I need to visit Uncle Cagwin first."
She had been busy with the university entrance exam recently and hadn’t had time to go to the hospital.
Now that the exam was over, she definitely needed to visit the hospital.
"Okay," Amadeus maneuvered the car and looked toward the direction of City Hospital.
Meanwhile, Candice Yancey finally recovered from Nathalie’s ’sincere’ grade prediction and asked her, "Now that your exam is over, Nathalie, do you want to come visit Beijing?"
"..." Beijing?
Nathalie didn’t immediately answer.
Candice went on inviting earnestly over the phone, "Since you’re free after your exams, why not visit Beijing? You’ve never really enjoyed yourself during your past visits. This time I’ll take you to some scenic spots, Beijing has a few with pretty decent views. Do you prefer cultural landscapes or natural scenery?"
"Either is fine."
She didn’t particularly like or dislike anything.
Candice chuckled, "If you like nature, Houhai is fun. I can take you there; it’s just a day trip, fun and not tiring."
Nathalie pondered for a moment.
Then she heard a familiar elderly voice on the other end of the phone, both spirited and authoritative. After coughing once, he said, "There are some ancient buildings near our home that are quite nice too. If you like those, I can take you there. Some places aren’t open to the public, but I can take you without a ticket and show you around inside."
Beijing’s famous ancient buildings were limited, and with a bit of thought, Nathalie knew what he was talking about. At his words, she raised her eyes slightly and glanced to the side.
Amadeus hadn’t expected Grandpa Yancey to be on the other end, too, an old man shamelessly joining in the merriment. Before Nathalie could respond, he whisperingly said, "If you want to go, go. If not, just refuse directly. No need to be polite with them."
His voice was quiet, but Nathalie’s phone reception was good, and Grandpa Yancey heard everything clearly. He almost lost his breath in anger, nearly bursting out with harsh words towards his unworthy descendant!
Fortunately, he remembered he was still on the call. He managed to hold his breath, though his temples throbbed intensely.
Nathalie glanced at him, shifted her phone to a different pose, and politely and courteously said to both Candice Yancey and Grandpa Yancey, "Mrs. Yancey, Grandpa Yancey, I think I’ll wait until the university entrance exam results are out."
She didn’t plan to visit Beijing before her exam results were released.
But she would definitely visit Beijing; Tsinghua University was there, and she needed to live in Beijing for her university studies.
Candice immediately responded, "No problem, consider it after your exam results are out. Just let me know when you want to visit, and we’ll pick you up from the airport. I’ll make time to show you around."
"Okay," Nathalie’s eyes softened, and she agreed quite readily.
Candice spoke with her for a while longer. After hanging up, Nathalie put away her phone and rested one hand on the car window.
Amadeus had already parked the car at the entrance of the hospital. Before she got out, he lifted his gaze, with a dignified and elegant lean forward, "You promised me an answer before..."
The university entrance exam was over, was it time for her to give him an answer?
