Chapter 638: Amadeus in the Hospital_1

Nathalie Quinlan stared at the message for a good few seconds before she moved her line of sight away, crossed her arms, and exited the chat box.

Without any more hesitation, she made a phone call to Alfred Garland.

The phone rang for seven or eight seconds before it was answered.

With a vacant look in her eyes, Nathalie Quinlan walked towards the outside of the terminal, holding a bottle of mineral water in her hand, and began speaking in a hoarse voice, "Hello, where are you guys? I’m back in McKinney."

There was silence on the other end of the phone for a moment. Quinlan moved the phone away from her ear to make sure it hadn’t been disconnected during the call, then brought it back to her ear just in time to hear a hoarse and pained male voice, "Ms. Quinlan, I’m at City Hospital; Amadeus... he..."

Nathalie didn’t wait to hear the rest of what he had to say, her gaze dropping sharply. She hailed a taxi with a raised hand, quickly got in, and said to the driver in the front, "Master, to City Hospital, please hurry."

While gripping the phone tightly, she furrowed her brows and told Alfred Garland, "I’ll be right there."

"Mhm..."

Listening to his weak reply, Quinlan pressed down on her brow, feeling a nerve at the back of her head tensing tightly, and added, "Half an hour."

Normally, it took one hour to drive from the airport to City Hospital.

If driven fast, it’s possible to reach in half an hour to 40 minutes. She used to frequently visit Uncle Cagwin at the hospital and was very clear about the time it took from the airport to the hospital.

Forty minutes later, the taxi stopped in front of City Hospital.

Nathalie Quinlan paid the fare using a QR code and then made another call to Alfred Garland to clarify which area Amadeus Yancey was in. With hands in her pockets, she walked inside.

City Hospital was never short of patients, but today there were significantly fewer. Quinlan made her way towards the emergency area and as soon as she entered the hallway, she saw Alfred Garland sitting on a chair with his head in his hands.

Alfred Garland, who had been sitting with his head buried in his hands, heard the commotion and looked up to see a pair of bloodshot eyes devoid of sparkle. When he caught sight of the girl being blocked by the bodyguards, his senses seemed to sharpen a little. He stood up and walked over, a look of guilt on his face, and asked her.

"Has it been half an hour already?"

Nathalie checked the time on her phone, "It’s been nearly an hour, remember I just called you five minutes ago asking where you were."

"..." Alfred rubbed his forehead and apologized to her, "I should have been outside to meet you, I’m sorry."

The two bodyguards who had stopped Nathalie exchanged glances, slightly confused, and respectfully asked him, "You know this lady?"

He almost blurted out ’Nathalie Quinlan is Amadeus’s fiancée’, but at the last moment changed it to Audrick’s sister.
